Replace the skin right away for better sound!
With the stock skin its just a thud sound but take that thing off and put on a real Remo Pinstripe and this thing comes alive, its exactly as I had hoped. The stock skin has a large double damping ring like a kick drum but if you want to use it for tom purposes you want this thing to ring a bit. You can also tell by the way it gets dented right away that the stock skin is low quality. The stock mounting system is also not the best, theres just too much weight for a normal L arm clamp. I'm going to upgrade it to a 7/8ths post like the pearl toms mount or maybe try replacing it with the stronger Gibraltar clamp. Otherwise I'm extremely happy with this and its exactly as I had hoped in terms of sound.
