Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper, 02, Clear

I absolutely love the Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper, and it has become an essential part of my daily coffee routine. Here’s why I think it’s fantastic: Pros: Excellent Brew Quality: The V60 design, with its spiral ribs and large single hole, allows for a clean, well-extracted cup of coffee. The result is a bright, flavorful brew with just the right amount of complexity. Durable and Lightweight: The plastic construction is surprisingly durable and lightweight. It’s perfect for everyday use, and I don’t have to worry about it breaking easily. Size 03 is Versatile: The Size 03 is ideal for brewing larger batches of coffee, making it great for when I have guests or just want a bigger cup for myself. Easy to Clean: Just rinse when done. Affordable: Compared to other brewing methods, the Hario V60 is very affordable, especially considering the quality of coffee it produces. It’s a great value for the price. Cons: Learning Curve: If you’re new to pour-over coffee, there’s a bit of a learning curve to mastering the perfect brew. It takes some practice to get the grind size, water temperature, and pouring technique just right. Requires Filters: You’ll need to use Hario V60 filters, which are an additional cost. However, the filters are widely available and relatively inexpensive. Overall Impression: The Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper is a fantastic investment for any coffee lover. It consistently delivers a delicious, high-quality cup of coffee, and its simplicity and durability make it a joy to use every day. This is a perfect travel drip coffee maker. It’s light weight, durable and make a great cup of Joe. I usually use 203 F to 212 F water to make my coffee and no issues at all. A must have travel companion if you are picky about your coffee like me. 👍

Initially I purchased the ceramic version, but I dropped it while cleaning and it broke into pieces. Seeing as how I could easily do that multiple times in the lifetime of the product, I decided to get this plastic version instead. Typically I am not a fan of putting boiling water on plastic. I convinced myself this was okay, because: 1. I don't actually put boiling water on it (and neither should you, unless you want burnt coffee). The water does not stay in contact with the plastic for a long period of time. 2. This is BPA free, high quality polypropylene plastic, which is considered to be one of the more chemically stable and lower-leaching plastics for food contact. This works wonderfully and the coffee tastes great. Enjoy!

For the past 25 years I've used a Melitta pour over coffee dripper just like this Hario V60. But I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about with these newer pour over drippers. Both coffee drippers are size 02, however they obviously cannot use the same paper filters because the Melitta uses standard 02 filters that any 02 sized coffee drip machine also uses(which I also use), whereas the Hario uses a special cone shaped filter similar to the Chemex. So after using both for a month now they pretty much taste the same... However the Hario probably edges out the Melitta because of the straight through design and higher quality filter. The Melitta may give a stronger cup of coffee however because I think the hot water steeps longer in the grinds due to the fact that the hole in Melitta is much much smaller, about a few milimeters wide. Whereas the hole in the Hario V60 is massive, almost the size of a quarter. What is interesting though is that the coffee drips through the Melitta at almost the same rate as the Hario... Until the 3rd or 4th cup. If you are making more than two cups of coffee with the Hario be prepared to sit for a very long time... The grounds get settled at the bottom of the cone filter and no matter how much water you pour in it the drip is SLOW, about 4X slower than the first two cups of coffee. I typically make three cups of coffee all at once, two to drink now and one cup for later. That third cup of coffee is so slow to make with the Hario it is maddening. It could also be maybe that the Hario filters are thicker? This is also probably why the flavor of the coffee is different between the two. I tested both using the exact same amount of freshly grinded dark roast coffee and exact same method of pour with blooming. I like my coffee flavor strong, so the Melitta makes a little stronger tasting coffee. The Hario is made in Japan, so if you read some of the reviews from Japan at the bottom and click on translate, the people in Japan think that the Hario is what you would find at the dollar store in Japan! Just saying. Anyways I got the Hario for 9 bucks shipped so no big deal, but I definitely would not pay more than $9 for it especially because you have to buy the special cone filters online or at a specialty coffee shop since normal super markets don't carry them. They're just filters anyways. I am rating this 5 stars anyways due to the portability of it, the ease of use, and the durability since I bought the plastic version. You can take this when you travel and not worry about it breaking. If you can find a Hario for less than $10, then go for it!

Super simple, easy to use, and easy to clean. And there are all kinds of ways to brew with this thing for different results. Great little thing to have.

Estupenda. Tenía de vidrio y se me rompió con un pequeñísimo toque, no llegaba ni a golpe. Así que he comprado este de plástico duro y va genial. Como no soy una purista del café ni tengo un sentido del gusto supersónico, pues este ya me va bien y no se romperá con mirarlo.
