Product Description Ellen Degeneres: Here And Now (Viva/DVD)Ellen DeGeneres has carved out a special place for herself in the pantheon of stand-up comedy superstars, thanks to her honest observations and off-the-wall wit. Now, she's back on stage and HBO subscribers have a front-row seat as she performs a full-length stand-up show taped live at New York City's Beacon Theater. The show promises to be filled with her novel observations about life's everyday realities, and will feature her whimsical take on any number of issues facing men, women and society today.]]> desertcart.com With a loose, free-associative flow, Ellen DeGeneres glides through her 2003 HBO special, Here and Now. In just the first 10 minutes she touches on procrastination, new paint colors, television commercials, and mental disorders--topics that fit into the show's subtitle, Modern Life and Other Inconveniences. By the end, she's also spun out sneaky jokes about cell phones, memory loss, elevators, vocal inflections, pickle jars, and social embarrassment. Her genius is that she never seems like a genius; on the contrary, DeGeneres seems like your next door neighbor pointing out the obvious, yet somehow an hour whizzes by in complete enjoyment. It's peerless observational humor--nothing groundbreaking or piercingly satirical, but simply fun. --Bret Fetzer Review: 5-star Family entertainment - . Beautifully crafted and delivered comedy that holds up well 10 years later. It works well for ages 8 to 95. The humor is not too simplistic or predictable and is not lazy profanity-laced humor. She somehow keeps it smart and edgy enough for sophisticated adults while keeping it accessible to youngsters and the elderly. Just great family entertainment at a nice price. Review: Great for some laughs - I laughed so hard the first time I watched "Ellen DeGeneres - Here and Now," I actually had tears rolling down my face (a rarity for me). Even though I've watched it several times now, it still makes me laugh. I can relate to so many things: procrastinating (with unfinished jobs all over the house); forgetting what I was going to say; waving at the wrong person; tripping then pretending to jog; singing the wrong words to songs; etc. On top of that, Ellen's humor is quite "clean" compared to most routines heard these days. I highly recommend this DVD for anyone looking for some good, clean laughs.

She is one funny lady
I will keep this short. There are no extras. It is not widescreen because it was an HBO special and made for old school CRT televisions. But it is funny as all hell. I laugh at this all the time and it is clean enough humor to put on around kids in my opinion. I don't think she cusses once the whole show and there aren't any jokes that are inappropriate for younger audiences in my opinion. Unless talking about toilet paper rolls is somehow wrong. It's really funny.

Wonderful, funny.
I LOVE this special of Ellen at the Beacon Theatre in NY. I originally had it on my DVR and watched it whenever I needed a laugh but lost it when I moved. Thus I made sure to purchase this DVD. Buy it, you don't be disappointed.

I watch this over and over
Everytime I need a laugh. This is a classic. And it doesn't seem to matter how many times I've heard the jokes, they are still funny. Something about the way Ellen tells them. Family-friendly comedy. Makes you laugh about all the silly everyday stuff. Highly, highly recommend!!!

Short and cute
Not as funny as some of her other routines but cute. I enjoyed it and got the DVD at a good price. Glad I didn't pay more for it.

I laughed so hard, I CRIED.
If you like Ellen, you will LOVE this stand-up routine. I am not the sort of person who likes to watch movies more than once or twice, but I have watched this DVD so many times that I feel like I know it by heart. It's not gay-themed, so if you're looking for that, this is not the DVD for you (minus one small bit at the beginning of the routine which is, of course, HILARIOUS). Ellen discusses everyday things and then presents them in a way that will have you in stitches. If you're considering buying this - consider no longer. JUST BUY THIS - NOW! You won't regret it.
