Wonderful product, easy to use, extremely helpful!
I have 3 cats. A 15 year old, a 3 year old and most recently an over excited crazy 5 month old. Never have I experienced with my 2 previous cats what this 5 month old cat is doing to my house. In the short time the 5 month cat has been with us we have tried everything to calm her down. She runs around at the fastest speed flying through the air, hanging on my curtains, climbing to the top of them. She has ripped up my leather furniture. We're finding her on every surface in the house and in everything. As I said, I have 2 previous cats, I have never experienced this with. She is still not calming down after 5 months. My kids and myself were not getting any sleep at night because this new cat would terrorize the house at night. Any little thing she would find on the floor became a game and would wake us up. After a month with no sleep, total frustration I couldn't take it anymore. My.Husband found this gate and I immediately ordered it. The gate has saved my sanity and we can now sleep. It was the easiest and quickest thing to put up, 10 minutes is all it took. No screwing into the walls with anything. It is so stable and sturdy, stays in it's place and does what it has to do. The outside is a solid frame. All the way around with a door that opens in the inside of it.There is an opening for an open handle. You gently lift up on the gate, and the gate opens like a regular door you walk through. On the right hand side on the top and bottom there is a small clicking you'll hear that locks the gate when you close. The cats are closed out. I've had previous gates in the past that ruined my walls. The cats could climb over them or through them. This gate is open on the top with almost a foot. But with the design of the gate with the long open rails the cat cannot climb it. This gate is fantastic! I have the gate at my kitchen entry near my backdoor going down to my basement. At night I put all three cats down stairs and it is wonderful. The family is not terrorized with noise all night now. Iwas worried about the gate being an eye sore if I had parties. But as stated earlier it is so easy to put up that I can take it down in ten minutes , put it away out of sight. Then put it back up after my parties. This gate is amazing. I don't think you'll find anything as good as it. I Highly recommend this gate to anyone. It could be used for cats, dogs, bunnies, even young children if you wanted to keep them out of a room. By this gate, you will not be disappointed!

Perfect Solution for my Cat!
Perfect Solution for my Cat!I recently purchased this tall pet gate, and I couldn't be more pleased! As the proud owner of a cat who’s always trying to jump over our old gate, this has been a game-changer. The height is perfect — it's tall enough to keep him contained, but it also blends well with our home’s decor.Pros:1. Height & Durability: At 71 inches tall, it provides the extra barrier I needed. It's sturdy enough to withstand my cat’s attempts to jump or push it over.2. Easy Installation: The gate was simple to set up. It comes with clear instructions and all the hardware needed, so no extra trips to the store were required.3. Secure Locking Mechanism: I love the lock feature. It’s easy for adults to open, but my cat can’t figure it out, which is a huge plus! No more accidental escapes.4. Versatile Design: It works perfectly in multiple spaces. We’ve used it to block doorways, stairs, and even wider areas without any issues. It fits seamlessly with our home decor, too.5. Adjustable Sizing: The gate is adjustable, so I was able to customize it to fit the different openings in my home without needing multiple gates.Cons:* A Bit Heavy: While it’s sturdy, it’s also on the heavier side, so I wouldn’t recommend it for people who want to move it around frequently.* Size Considerations: Make sure you measure your space before purchasing. It might not fit in smaller or uniquely shaped doorways.Overall: This gate is an excellent choice for pet owners who need a reliable, tall, and durable barrier. It has made a huge difference in keeping my cat safe and contained, without compromising on style or ease of use. Highly recommend!

Perfect!!!
Works great! We have two cats that don't get along and this gate works perfectly to keep them separate. Opening and closing is easy and a year later the gate is holding up just fine.

Dangerously insecure side segments
I don’t know if what I received was defective or missing pieces, but there is no way to secure the side extension segments to the main gate segment. They have prongs that sort of slide into corresponding holes, but the segments do not lock together to secure them. Without pressure, the sides would fall off- meaning any force exerted on the gate could cause the whole thing to crash down. I’m going to give this a last attempt to make sure I’m not missing anything, but the instructions don’t mention anything about the side segments, so I have to wonder if I got a mash up of returned pieces. Putting it together and hoping for the best with the parts as they are after at least an hour of trying to figure them out, would be a death trap) thus was intended to create a space on one side of my house to introduce a foster cat to 1-2 other cats at a time. This is not an inexpensive gate. Amazon should not be selling this.

Solved our "critter containment" problem! Some installation tips...
We have multiple cats of different size and age, including one small calico who has defeated every other cat gate we've found. Two of our feline friends don't (yet) get along, and though we're working with a behaviorist to resolve this, in the meantime we need to reliably separate them for their mutual safety. We bought two of these; here is my review plus some installation tips after installing the two gates and reinstalling one to fine-tune its placement.CONSTRUCTION: Durable steel with what appears to be a powder-coated matte finish. Powder coating is much more durable than paint -- in a previous job, I designed electrical panels for factories, and I *always* specified powder coated enclosures because of this. It costs more but is worth every dime. The modular parts are joined with long steel pins that fit snugly into the sockets, so the completed assembly feels stable and does not flop around once it's compressed into place.FITTINGS: The hinge mechanism is rock-solid, and the compression adjustment knobs are good quality and typical for better-grade gates of this type. The latch mechanism has a spring-loaded square pin on the door that engages with a plastic socket on the fixed part of the gate. Imagine an ordinary doorknob's closing mechanism with the sideways "ramp" so you can close it without turning the knob, but much smaller and made of plastic. The plastic is of a dense and wear-resistant type (nylon, I think). See "Issues" below for more on this topic. It was nice that the manufacturer includes both shorter and longer compression bolts to help adapt to different situations.ERGONOMICS: The handle is integral to the gate with no protrusions on either side -- this will help if you intend to leave the gate open and flat against a wall. These open both directions, which I didn't think was important to me until I tried it -- and now I can't imagine living without it. If you're carrying things, being able to open the gate toward or away from you is really helpful. The door is heavy enough that a person with medical issues such as arthritis might be challenged by it. The opening for your hand is horizontal. Although I have no related medical issues, personally I find it easier to grasp the bars than to turn my hand palm-up to use the handle. Do whatever works for you, of course.ISSUES: The only issue I've found is that the spring-loaded latch pin at the bottom of one of our two gates kept getting stuck in its retracted position (i.e., unlatched). There may have been some molding "flash" on the plastic, and the spring inside wasn't strong enough to overcome the friction. I've fixed this -- I think -- by grasping the pin with pliers and working it back and forth vigorously to loosen up the friction. This wasn't worth deducting a star, but I'd like to see two changes from the manufacturer: First, include a slightly stronger spring in these latch pins. Second, let the latches be more easily extracted from the steel frame in case the spring needs to be replaced.INSTALLATION TIPS:* As someone else already said, RTFM (Read the Fine Manual!) before you start, to save yourself a lot of rework.* It's not obvious (to me) from the instructions, but the modular extenders have a "top" and "bottom" that are of different frame sizes. Don't do what I did, and assume they're symmetric.* The instructions don't include a detail illustration of the order of things going onto the compression screws. The order is:+ Outer hex nut (not needed if encryption rod is not used, and optional even if the rod *is* used).+ Encryption rod (if needed)+ Inner hex nut (if encryption rod is used)+ Adjustment nut (knob) which then presses against the gate frame.* You only need the adjustment knobs on one side of the gate, so if your opening leaves you at a "borderline" between two assembly configurations, consider leaving out the adjustment on either the left or right side to push the gate closer to the wall and leave more room on the other side. You're better off doing this to work in one of the modules if that lets you omit one or both encryption rods, because the resulting assembly will be stronger and look more "polished".* As someone else mentioned, install the anti-tripping threshold piece early and let it hold the gate upright for you. (Be careful -- it's a little tippy in this temporary mode, but it works.)* There are plastic U-shaped channels that slip over the junctions between the frame modules. INSTALL THOSE BEFORE YOU PUT THE GATE INTO THE OPENING. It's easy before placing the gate, and a royal pain in the backside to try to do it afterward.SUMMARY: This product is expensive but durable and well-designed. As Robert Heinlein famously observed, TANSTAAFL: There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch!

Lifesaver with a potentially fatal flaw.
Mine arrived with no damage and was fairly easy to set up (read the directions and do not go cutting all the zipties early!) It has been a lifesaver to separate some rescue cats from an intolerant permanent feline, while letting them see goings-on in the house and allowing good air-flow. A note here, when installed with the threshold this does not allow my existing door to shut completely, so check clearances if that's important. These would also work well to remediate some crimes of the "open-plan" craze, by replacing that door that keeps the dog out of the kitchen, the kid off the basement stares, and both from bolting for freedom when you carry groceries into your "open-plan" mudroom.BUT if you get one, check right away (before install!) that bothe the little spring-bolts that hold the door closed at top and bottom are working smoothly and consistently. They are prone to get stuck /in/ and thus not latch. I found this out when the bottom one on mine stuck, a cat got through(!) and blood was shed. The company could not be reached to send a part and the best solution Amazon could offer was to return (i.e. scrap) the whole thing (very large, heavy-ish, awkward thing) and reorder.I was lucky that by dint of icepicks, screwdrivers, anti-seize and persistence I got mine to work and have been happy wth it since. Another reviewer got one that apparently couldn't be fixed. So, caveat emptor and check it on arrival.

A little expensive but sturdy
I bought this gate to act as a door for our den so we could bring in an outdoor cat during these very cold winter nights and keep her separated from our indoor cats but still allow interaction. So far it's working very well, it's very sturdy and secure. Installation was a little bit of a pain; I kept dropping the extensions/covers on the big toe of my right foot (3 times).Anyways, it's in place, our cats can't get through it, and we're slowly getting this outdoor cat used to indoor living. It was a little expensive, but I like how sturdy it feels. Other gates that were cheaper didn't look as sturdy as this one. For example the French door style gates all look like if you applied pressure to the center of the gate it would gap enough for a small animal to squeeze through. I don't think any of our cats will be able to squeeze through this.

Well made and look good too!
Took me about 10 minutes to set up the first one and then 5 minutes to set up the second. Easy to use, just life the door and they swing both ways. Would love to see them release a piece for the top as one of our walls is near a counter, but it was easy to rig up some cardboard to keep the cats from jumping over. Expensive, but well made.

The actual door breaks off after minimal use.
Gate breaks after a few months and there's apparently nothing they can do to fix it.I've foolishly ordered several from this brand even though they keep breaking. My final purchase broke 6 months after purchase. When I reached out to them they told me to try support through Amazon but there is no support here. Only troubleshooting on unrelated problems.Save yourself a headache and look elsewhere.
