Over the previous six years, Zayn had been writing his fourth studio album at his home studio in rural PA. A leftfield triumph
Well, I wasn't expecting this. I had not paid much attention to Zayn's solo career so far, and gave his new record a cursory stream out of curiosity. Would I get past three or four tracks? 15 of them later, my scepticism has melted away. It's a mature, consistent and deeply listenable piece of work which, if there is any justice, will bring him to a whole new grown-up audience. This is at least the equal of any Harry Styles album.
