What is the difference between a humidifier vs. a dehumidifier?

Humidifiers increase the relative humidity of the air by evaporating water, while dehumidifiers decrease the relative humidity of the air by condensing water vapor. Humidifiers are best for dry spaces, while dehumidifiers are best for damp spaces.

Will a dehumidifier kill mold?

A dehumidifier alone will not kill mold, but it can help prevent mold growth. Mold requires moisture to grow, so by removing excess moisture from the air, a dehumidifier can make it more difficult for mold to grow and thrive.

Does my space need to be airtight?

No, in fact it should not be air tight. Damp Defender is designed to work in a confined but not sealed space; small gaps allow proper air circulation.

Will Damp Defender Burn Surrounding Surfaces?

Not at all! Damp Defender is designed to increase enclosed spaces by only 2 to 4 degrees. We recommend keeping it a reasonable distance from your belongings so it can efficiently circulate air.

What should humidity be in a house with air conditioning?

The ideal humidity for a house that runs AC should be between 30-50%. This range provides a comfortable and healthy indoor environment and helps prevent issues such as mold growth, musty odors, and health problems
