Well, I didn't expect it to be this good...
Right so I went for the XT, and from my experience, don't bother with the X, or the X3D, unless you're doing a specific build. I upgraded from an i7 7700, to this, the Ryzen 7 5800XT, and I am very impressed. I did a new motherboard build (MSI MAG MAX) which complemented this nicely, but the key thing was the CPU comes with a new cpu cooler, the AMD Wraith, which works insanely well together. Fyi, the instructions with the CPU are pretty rubbish, but I knew what I was doing anyway. Also, a heartbreaking amount of force is required to secure the cooler to the CPU/ board, but the pre-applied thermal paste has worked just as well as the MX-4 does. Overall, very impressed, very fast. This CPU can run any game I throw at it, very capable! very good value for the price, and amd ain't too bad! (intel from day 1). Would recommend - 10/10. Fyi, go for something else if you have anything more powerful than a 4080.

Great
Absolutely loving it, can’t believe the jump in performance from my old Ryzen 4 4500 to this! The productivity and speed with my work programs and the CRM system I use is amazing, wish I had made the change sooner! Runs silky smooth for work and gaming, didn’t use the cooler that is supplied with it as it’s big and bulky and frankly ugly, I paired it with a bit of an overkill NZXT Kraken Elite 360 and it’s a beautiful combo! Keeps the cpu temps super low even during gaming.

Very impressive CPU
I bought this to upgrade my old Ryzen 3 and have to say the difference is night and day luckily my motherboard excepts multiple Ryzen CPU Generations up to Ryzen 9, thought I would go with the Ryzen 7 5800XT as it was within my budget and offered the best gaming, desktop and workstation specs, my pc is mostly used for retro gaming and editing videos and so far it's handled everything I've thrown at it, it's speeded up my video editing no end, the stock cooler that it comes with the wraith prism is a little under powered to cool this beast my temps were very high using this cooler even on idle so decided to opt for a 240 thermalright AIO Water Cooler and now it brings the cpu temps down to ridiculously low levels compared to the Wraith. Overall very impressed with this CPU it will last me a good couple years before I upgrade again.

Excellent Upgrade for AM4 – Big Gaming Performance Boost
I bought the Ryzen 7 5800XT as an upgrade because I didn’t want to move to a newer socket right now, especially with the current cost of RAM. I was previously running a Ryzen 7 2700, and the difference in performance is immediately noticeable, particularly in games. Load times are faster, frame rates are higher, and overall gameplay feels much smoother and more responsive. The processor handles modern titles with ease, and multitasking performance is also a big step up thanks to the improved architecture and higher boost clocks. Installation was straightforward on my existing AM4 motherboard, and the included Wraith Prism cooler does a solid job keeping temperatures under control. This CPU is a fantastic option if you want to breathe new life into an AM4 system without the expense of a full platform upgrade. Highly recommended for anyone looking to extend the life of their AM4 build with a serious performance uplift.

Fastest and hottest am4
Hands down the fastest am4 CPU, be warned though - it can get toasty. For my use case the wraith prism cooler couldn't hack it, continuously kept jumping to 70% speed or so, which makes it very very noisy. So yea - great cpu but make sure you have plenty of airflow or aio cooling

Good update
Bougt to update an earlier series 2 Ryzen - 2600 As usual, replacing the CPU was easy, and the new fan less so! All works well, and the speed update is noticeable

Modest performance bump at best
No complaints other than no significant improvement in performance. I upgraded my son's PC from a Ryzen 3600 to this (prior to his birthday as the returns window expired before his bday). He ran it for three weeks without even realising I'd upgraded him. I would suggest holding off a CPU bump if you have anything equal to or above a 6 core Ryzen CPU and wait for AM5 9000 series to drop in price or AM6 to be released. Never used the in box cooler as he already has an AIO.

Good for budget
Great budget processor, mid fan tho

Best AM4 CPU available
this is the best AM4 CPU that's available on the market, upgraded from a R5 2600 and my FPS improvement is insane, I can actually play shooter/fps games at 240hz on 2K resolution now where I was getting like 100 before, definitely not bottlenecked anymore, good investment

Solid, fast all-around processor for budget-building
Still a beast; yes, if you have the cash (and you'll need it at time of writing...RAM, big oof) you'll probably find faster chips and chipsets waiting for you, but if you're content with budget-building there's plenty to like about what's been, for me, a perfect all-around choice. The X3D variant was a lot more expensive when I bought this and I don't think it was worth the extra spend for gaming, since I had multiple use-cases in mind. The higher thread-count Ryzens might make more sense than this one if you can get a good deal and want to do things that benefit from lots of threads. In my own case, I was looking to contain cost and still get excellent performance. Mission accomplished. I skipped the cooler that came with it, full disclosure. I tried it later on another chip and...it's a bit awkward to wire up for the lights, but if you like to kit your system out with pretty LEDs it's probably a good value-add for cheap, and it does the job. I went with a big heat sink and low-noise horizontal fan cooler instead, and I only find that in-game temps get a little spicy with the default configuration on my motherboard (automatic overclock). I might fiddle with this later but I have not had stability issues from day one, so there's no rush to tinker. My use cases include transcoding media, gaming, virtualization, compiling some software from source, and other Linux stuff. I don't feel like I'm missing out but YMMV. All that said: the newer chipsets will net you PCIe gains. Such are the costs of saving money with yesteryear tech.
