About The Artist ---------------- Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28 September 1929. She is one of the most reputable and celebrated playback singers in Bollywood history and she is still singing. She recorded her first song for a Bollywood film was in 1942, when she was 13 years old, for the movie Kiti Hasaal. The song was dropped from the movie during the final rounds of editing. Later that year she sang Natali Chaitraachi Navalaai for the film Pahili Mangalaa-gaur. Lata Mangeshkar received numerous, including Padma Bhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna and even a One Time Award for Lifetime Achievement Award. She held the record for most s in history in The Guinness Book of World Records, from 1974 to 1991. This category was removed in 1991, and reappeared in 2011, giving the title to her sister Asha Bhosle.
