Good price for quality calculator.
Bought for husband for work. He says it's easy to use, convenient, good price. Does exactly what he needs it to do. Perfect for students, too.

Product Review
I recommend the Sharp calculator because of the features it produces and its affordability. The reason for needing a calculator is because I had to find one for an algebra class, fast. As I am looking throughout Amazon, I see this product that has everything I needed for a great price. The algebra class I took required a scientific calculator that could show fractions, which would be easier using versus your basic calculator that does not have function features. Also, this product can be used for many other mathematical classes like chemistry, trigonometry, architecture, and engineering etc. The evidence shows in the product’s picture on the Amazon site with a quadratic formula shown. For a year now, this product is still very functional with no problems after is being so long. The packaging was mostly well kept, with only one small dent in one of the corners of the box. The bent packaging did not affect the product physically. The only issue I had was when opening the box and noticing there were no instructions. When I tried to solve a fraction, I was stuck and had to do math problems the old-fashioned way. There is not a problem with the old-fashioned way (only shows the add, subtract, divide, and multiplication buttons), but I specifically had gotten it with WriteView so I would not have to. Eventually after looking up on google how to access this feature I was doing just fine. The type of calculator from the Sharp company is not much into the decorative type as there is not an aesthetic. The Sharp calculator is worried about the different functions it has more than the color. I can tell by how many colors are provided. The only colors available will be the one marketed with black and blue on the product, no pattern. This lightweight and portable calculator allows me to bring it with me to class as well as use at home. Being able to have something not so bulky and easily to carry with me is necessary for all I do. As a college student, or businesswoman, a need to carry multiple things at one time is always an issue. The compactness does not take from this calculator. It gets the job done. I’ve used other scientific calculators and this works with perfection, at least once you have looked up every function. The price definitely worth the product. As stated before, it is affordable, but easily comparable with higher priced calculators doing the same thing. I have now reviewed the Sharp Calculator and assisted in your purchase. I am here to let you know that this is a good scientific calculator that is very much affordably with WriteView, but you will need to do research on how to access the different modes that you are trying to find. As for its use purpose, it did its job during class and so much more. Looking back at it now I give this product a 5-star rating.

This range (W516 also) is a (8-32 bit) embedded/firmware engineer's friend
I've owned dozens, possibly hundreds of different calculators over a few decades, including HP, Casio, Sharp, TI, Sinclair, and all of them are capable of doing the job for simple scientific calculations. But one area most calculators really suck at is manipulating hexadecimal numbers and doing math and logic on them. Where the capability is offered, it often requires too many keystrokes or is lacking in some major way, and I'm finding myself launching a PC calculator app in programmer mode because it's so awkward. This is where this model and others in the line (WR-516) really excels. Hex math is intuitive and fast, and switching between bases mid-calculation works great. It's quite useful sitting on the desk while debugging, computing memory addresses of structures in memory and so forth, and basic logic ops like AND, OR, XOR. There are some limits. 40 bits for Hex, so it's fine for 32 bits and down but not for 64 bit calculations. I find it to be less irritating than launching a calculator app in programmer mode. Your mileage may vary but this model is comparatively superior to most for fast, intuitive base calculations and conversions on-the-fly, and it's dirt cheap. On top of all that it's a pretty decent, if not necessarily my favorite, general scientific calculator too. There are more powerful models for sure, but for me it's time to switch to using a computer for a lot of the extra functions (are you really going to do numerical integration or matrix math on a calculator in 2021?)

Compact, lightweight, inexpensive and fully featured
For someone who has been accustomed to the TI84 panel layout, I often make mistakes hitting the - key instead of the = one just below it. The 10^x for scientific notation is not as intuitive or as easy to use as the EE key in the TI 84, for me at least.

Great product for diploma/degree level students!
Purchased since 2021. Still running and works fantastic

Does everything but graphing, and never have to plug it!
We have the large, color scientific calculator that high schools recommend. It's been sitting unloved, unpowered and is never ready when a test requires it. Classwork is on an online calculator anyway. By contrast, this Sharp calculator is always ready, much lighter and easier to use, and has a set of features that are significantly ahead of the bulky one. One-touch display switch to show fractions/radical/percentage or decimals is smart and sooo handy! It supports algebraic expressions, solves equations, does tables and simple data analytics within the tables, statistics -- everything a real-life STEM class would need. The face is a warm dark grey, back is turquoise blue (i throught is was just a trim) and it comes with a protective cover, also dark grey. This is a true gem of a calculator!

Mixed bag for base-N conversions, lackluster build quality
I've been using a Casio fx-991EX for a while, but I wanted to try this Sharp for one reason: base-N conversions. Other reviews said it was good in this regard, but I found this to be a mixed bag. After considering the lackluster build quality, I'll be sticking with my Casio. The Casio's base-N conversions feel forced - you have to switch modes, which erases any decimal result you have from a previous calculation, meaning you have to first store the result, switch modes, recall the value, then finally do the base-N conversion. This is no less than 7 button presses on the Casio, whereas the Sharp can do this in 2 button presses. Similarly, on the Casio, you might as well forget about any mixed-base arithmetic, whereas the Sharp does this well. Big win for the Sharp. The Sharp also offers some binary operators that simply don't exist on the Casio - NOT, AND, OR, XOR, and XNOR (sadly, it doesn't have bit shift operators). Another big win for the Sharp. However, I found that the Sharp only supports displaying 10 bits in binary - any more will throw an error. The Casio supports 32 bits. Admittedly, I'd estimate that at least half of the base-2 conversions that I ever do would be 8 bits or less, and the Sharp would handle that just fine. But 16 bits is also very common, and the Sharp can't do it in binary. Considering this was one of my primary reasons for trying this calculator, I'm disappointed. Hexadecimal bit width is adequate, supporting 33 bits and then some (9,999,999,999 in base-10). The build quality of the Sharp leaves something to be desired. It feels cheap - the cover jiggles and rattles, the plastic flexes, the directional arrows feel spongy and wobbly, and most other buttons will rotate just enough for the labels to look slightly unaligned. Part of the appeal of using a handheld calculator over a calculator app is the look and feel, and the Sharp fails to deliver here. The Casio models that I have (fx-991EX, fx-115ES PLUS, and fx-300ES PLUS) all feel much better in the hand. Lastly, the display is okay, but it has a much lower resolution than the Casio fx-991EX, though it's on par with the other Casio models that I have. I wanted to like this Sharp, but between the very small base-2 bit width and the lackluster build quality, it just found a new home in a random parts drawer. Considering the Casio models that I mentioned above the same price or less than the Sharp, I can't recommend this product.
