EWT tools have been designed to lie flat on the tool rest, horizontal to the floor and pushed directly into your work. Effortlessly large as of wood are turned away with no intimidating cutting angles to learn and saves time by being able to cut left, cut right and straight in without changing the angle of the tools. Our tools are designed to provide support directly under the cutting edge and transmits the cutting pressure down so that the lathe can take the abuse, something you would normally experience when turning with conventional High Speed Steel tools…our tools require very little physical strength or effort. This simple method of turning allows you to learn and master turning wood in no time. The maximum/recommended reach of this tool is 4 inches. Handles that are 16 inch, made from American le have a great feel when turning, which equates to less igue. Our toolbars are machined from solid CNC stainless steel and are 8.5 inches long by 1/2 inch square. The total tool length is 24.5 inches. This Full Size Rougher accepts 4 different carbide cutters: Ci1-R2 (2 inch radius), Ci1-R4 (4 inch radius) or Ci1-SQ (no radius) and Ci1-R2NR – Negative Rake. The carbide cutters have four sharp sides, once one edge becomes dull simply loosen the screw with the provided Allen wrench, lift and turn the cutter to a new edge, tighten the screw back down and your back to turning again. The cutters have been specially developed with optimum grinding, geometry and the most optimum carbide grade in order to achieve excellent results in turning. The Rougher comes with a Ci1-R4 (4” radius on all flats) square carbide cutter and an Allen wrench.
