Very compact lightweight UPS at a really great price for 255 watts of battery protection!
I actually purchased two of these. One to be mounted on a wall to protect my 16-port network switch and POE power injector, the 2nd to protect a computer & monitor. Very simple brick design with both a battery protection side and a surge only side. The surge-only side is always on regardless of the power button state. The on/off power button is back-lit by an LED for indicating power on and also for alarm states. Holding the power button for 2 seconds turns the unit on and the same for turning it off. If power goes out while the unit is on the alarm will beep every 30 seconds and the LED will blink. If only a few minutes of battery remain the alarm will beep twice a second. The beeping can be silenced by tapping the power button twice rapidly. I tested the unit with 200watts of draw and it lasted 2mins 44secs. I'm guessing 100watts would put it at 5mins of battery time. My computer draws 40wattts and monitor 20watts, so that would put it at about 8mins. I did not test the actual charge time from a depleted battery, but the manual and sticker claim 8hrs needed for full charge. When the unit is charging it draws 10.7watts. Once the unit is fully charged it draws 2.1watts to keep the battery maintained at full charge. If you're confused about the spec of 400va and 255w, just ignore the 400 number and use the 255 to determine how much you can plug into the battery side. Plug larger products into the surge only side such as laser printers. This unit does not have a USB port so you can not program it nor monitor it via the downloadable software which you can do with the larger models. Also note the casing has no wall mounting holes nor tabs on it. If you need to wall mount it and don't mind voiding your warranty four screws are easily removed and two holes can be drilled safely away from any internal components. In 3 to 6 years when the battery needs replacement you can easily remove those same four screws and easily disconnect the lead to the battery for swapping. The battery is secured simply by the two casing halves and has no screws, tape, nor glue holding it in place. Hope all this info helps with your purchase decision. Since I am just now placing these in service I will give them a 5 star rating and if something goes south in the next year or two I will come back and edit this review.

Dependable until the built-in battery lasts.
This line of Cyber Power UPS works for about 5 years. After that the internal battery is unable to ride it through power surges. So long as you know that, it is a relatively inexpensive protection for all your computer stuff.

Battery dies within 30 days - Very common for this product
I never gave a 1 before, bt this product quite simply has a long history of failure. I researched it on ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini. The battery fails within a month & then it is rendered useless. Do not buy this product. Spend the money to buy a proper UPS: If your Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (400VA/255W) isn’t holding power when the electricity goes out, it means the unit isn’t supplying backup power as it should. There are several possible reasons — some simple to fix, and others that indicate a hardware limitation or failure. Here are the most common causes and what you can check: ✅ 1. Battery Is Dead or Bad The most frequent cause of a UPS not holding power is a worn-out or failed internal battery. Why this happens UPS batteries are sealed lead-acid (SLA) and wear out over time (usually 3–5 years). If the UPS was stored discharged for a long time, the battery may be permanently damaged. Even new units can have a defective battery. What to check Press the power/test button — does it beep or indicate battery status? Some models flash an error code if the battery is bad. If available, check the battery replacement indicator. Solution: Replace the UPS battery (if the model allows it). For this Amazon Basics unit, replacement batteries are typically inexpensive and the case can open to swap the battery. ✅ 2. UPS Was Never Fully Charged If the UPS wasn’t charged long enough before use: It may not have stored enough energy. New units usually need several hours of charge before first use. Solution: Plug it in and let it charge overnight (8–12 hours), then test again. ✅ 3. Load Too High for the UPS Capacity A 400VA/255W UPS is relatively low power — it can handle: A small desktop computer A router/modem A few peripherals … but not high-power devices like: Large monitors Gaming PCs Laser printers Space heaters If the connected load exceeds 255W, the UPS may instantly go into overload protection and drop power. Solution: Reduce the load: Unplug everything except a single device. Test if it still fails. ✅ 4. UPS Is Old or Stored Without Power If the UPS wasn’t used for a long time: The internal battery sulfates and can’t hold charge. Some UPS units lock out battery use after long idle periods. Solution: Recharge it fully and test battery with reduced load — if still no backup time, the battery likely needs replacement. ✅ 5. The Unit Is Defective Sometimes UPS units have internal failures: Faulty battery charger circuit Bad connection between battery and electronics Internal fuse blown Signs of this: No lights or beeps on battery test UPS immediately shuts off when unplugged Strange behavior like rapid blinking Solution: If under warranty, contact Amazon for a return/replacement. ❌ 6. Surge Only Outlets vs. Battery Backup Outlets Some UPS units have two types of outlets: Battery Backup + Surge Protection Surge Protection Only If you plugged devices into the surge-only outlets, they won’t receive backup power when the power fails. Check: On the unit label, make sure your devices are plugged into the battery backup outlets, not the surge-only ones. Quick Troubleshooting Checklist ✔ Make sure device is plugged into the battery-backup outlets ✔ Let it charge for 8–12 hours ✔ Disconnect excess load — try just one device ✔ Press power/test button for status indication ✔ If still not working → likely battery replacement needed When to Replace the Battery Typical UPS batteries (sealed lead-acid) need replacement every 3–5 years. For this Amazon Basics model, replacing the battery is usually possible — the battery inside is a standard size and can be swapped. If you want, tell me: 🔹 What devices are plugged into the UPS 🔹 How old the UPS is 🔹 What the UPS lights/indicators show when the power fails …and I can help you diagnose the problem more precisely.

Not bad for the money but no replacement battery available on Amazon
This review is being written four and a half years after my original purchase. I'm not sure how you would write a review prior to the death of the ups. This unit has no display and I was not looking for one. It fit my usage needs perfectly as I simply wanted to power the cable box behind my television which is installed in recessed Cabinetry where all power connectors inside the Cabinetry and very hard to reach. I live where power is interrupted one to two times per month and as you know cable boxes take a significant period of time to reboot. I have a generator but I have it set for 45 seconds to kick in. This UPS served us perfectly for four and a half years. It kept the television on and the cable box on for that 45 seconds. It did start to beep as soon as we lost power. It's nice to know that it was working. Others have stated that it could not Auto reset once the power came back on. That is not my experience. Once the generator kicked in or the street kicked back on the UPS reset itself perfectly. All that being said the battery is now dead. It is now my search for a replacement battery that is leading me to only get this unit 4 stars. Typically, on all my other UPS's, I would simply open it up take the model number off the battery and search Amazon for the replacement. I've done that with this one but no such battery replacement exists on Amazon. To be clear, the battery inside my "Amazon Basics UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector, 400VA/255W, 6 Outlets, Uninterruptible Power Supply, Small Compact Size, Black" is a Leoch cps3.6-12(12v2.9ah). Finding this battery has become extremely difficult period even my local Electrical Supply Warehouse does not have a battery of this size with capacities and terminal connections being the same or similar. Because of this I will need to purchase I need ups at this time. Somewhat disappointing but after four and a half years I guess it's not that bad. As you can see in the images I did try to buy a replacement battery that others had stated it would fit. I bought this prior to digging it out of the Cabinetry it was in. As you can see it definitely did not fit. I've provided images of the actual battery in the unit, the battery removed with make and model showing, and measurements of the terminals. I forgot the state that the form factor on this is perfect. I do have a few of these including one of them mounted underneath a desk. For the same reason as stated above I would not want the computer to lose power immediately as that really messes up the computer. That one is still working just fine. But, I'm going to keep it close eye on it because I suspect it's about ready to go.

Ideal for home office use
Excellent backup. Light weight. Works well for surge protection.

Compact UPS for router and network equipment backup
I got this UPS mainly to connect my router, so if the power goes out, I can still have a short window of internet connectivity. It is nice and compact, but still has enough outlets for my setup. I also plan to connect my NAS power supply to help prevent sudden power loss and reduce the chance of potential issues with that equipment. Power outages are not very frequent where I am, so this is mostly a failsafe and peace-of-mind upgrade. Between the surge protection and the battery backup, it gives me a little extra protection for my network gear. It should help absorb short power blips, keep things online for a few extra minutes, or give me time to gracefully shut down connected devices if needed. The cord is long enough to place the unit near the devices without much trouble, and the compact size makes it easy to fit into a network or office setup. Overall, this is a practical UPS for protecting a router, modem, NAS, or other small electronics.

BACK-UP FOR MODEM AND ROUTER
Because of the change in climate, we expect to have more power outages as well as some random outages as a surprise from the power company. The fiber installer suggested to get a UPS to run the internet and the landline for a power outage (yes, we have a landline). There are choices to get a UPS dedicated to one device. I went checking and saw this Amazon 6 outlet Standby UPS to provide power to more than one device. Thinking outside of the "box", I got this to power not only the modem but also the router (left side plugs). The right plugs that are not UPS is powering a camera. The wattage use for the UPS connected side is @24w at 2.5A max. Since this will provide power during an outage, the landline will have connection as well as having internet available for the portable devices. I'm not intending to run anything else to the wattage use will be pretty small. We've had several power outages during earthquakes, storms and heat waves so the landline is handy when everything is down. Now that this is also powering the router, we'll still have wireless capability. This can also power up a phone charger for those extended outages. I don't know how long this will last using 24W but the capacity is much higher so hopefully it will last a few hours or more. CONS: unlike a video showing this UPS, there are no mounting holes. I originally wanted to mount this on the wall, but as it worked out the UPS can stand up on top of the meter with just enough space to have it up right. Also unlike the video, there is no simple slide out battery compartment to replace the battery. The back is one piece secured by screws. I did not take this apart to see if a battery can be changed since batteries do wear out. But I hope this can be accomplished rather than replacing the entire. unit. This unit charged for over a day and after unplugging it, the UPS did its job by supplying uninterrupted power to my devices. Our fiber company said that their lines all have battery back-up so we would be able to receive service during an outage. With the modem and routers working, our communications to the outside world will not be interrupted. Until the next earthquake, storm or heat wave occurs, I'm happy we're now fully prepared with the added ability to continue communications. Enjoy!

Power!
This is a decent price and does a good job of protecting and powering small or basic items, such as modems or routers. You wouldn’t want to buy it to use for television sets or something larger. Does exactly what it says it will.

Small but perfect
Keeps the power going during brown outs. Used for fiber modem, small central air pump and central air exchanger uv light.

Works very well and the price is definitely competitive.
These are well made and competitively priced. However, one of the units malfunctioned about 6 months after unboxing. The result was a high-pitched beep that could only be silenced by shutting the unit down. Now, this was only one unit out of several purchased. Other than that, they have worked very well and have protected delicate equipment from frequent power outages.

Very useful piece of tech
Bought this because we tend to have short power losses. Just enough that the router had to reset. Very annoying when working at home. That problem is gone since we bought this. Last time the power when out, the internet kept on for a good 40mins which is quite good given the size and price of this
