Perfect - I already have a similar one but this one's even better as it allows an SSD to "sleep" so avoiding long-term damage. It installs perfectly - just plug and play. Also has a usb-c so you can use that as well as the normal usb connection. Brilliant value!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really useful little adapter and easy to use. I connected a 2.5-inch drive to my computer without any problems, and the USB-C and USB 3.0 options make it convenient for different devices. It was recognised straight away and has worked reliably so far. Good quality and a useful item to have if you work with spare HDDs or SSDs.

This review is for the non-powered 2.5 SSD to USB adapter. I needed to transfer a lot of data from an old (but large cap) 3.5 onto a new 2.5 SSD that was going into a media PC. Far too much to use a USB stick, so bought this with the intention of sticking it in the existing PC and copying all the files over while I built the new PC (and had lunch) And that's exactly what happened. The USB/SSD drive appears in Windows explorer and Drive Management as just another HD, and can be used as such. There's only one niggle - and I think this may be a W11 thing, which I'm still getting used to - the drive appears twice in Explorer. Not as two different drives, just the same one - but twice. Doesn't seem to have any effect, it just looks a bit odd. This isn't meant as a permanent installation, so it's understandable that it has a short cable and is effectively a naked device. It does have a very cool integrated adapter to allow use of either USB-A or USB-C ports, which is a good touch.

Originally purchased to extract data from a range of SATA storage drives. This model won’t power any 3.5” hard disk drives, you’ll need to get a separate version with additional power capabilities. For use with 2.5” hard disks and SSDs, I can’t fault the performance. It’s easy to use and connects well to both the SATA and USB ports. The USBc adapter is a nice touch as well.

Have used various models and brands of these in the past but they never seem to work as intended or as quick. This is ideal, bought 2 so I have one at home and one in the car. Plug and play, quick file transfers when I'm backing clients computers up or transferring data from old to new. Couldn't ask for more and great price, size and well built. USB and USB-C connection is a nice addition.

Works really well, pretty fast connection to boot time. Read speeds seem pretty good.

I recently had to use an old AV powered SATA to USB with a block with different size drive connection points on each side to recover data from my primary laptop. Fortunately it wasn’t a HDD problem but I still wanted a full backup just in case). I had to use tge old one with power and USB 2.0 otherwise it wouldn’t see the HDD. So it was very clumsy and slow compared to this. This arrived just as I was finishing with the older one. I still had to try this immediately just to see if and how it worked. I connected this one easily to the HDD (pin end into HDD and the other USB 3.0 into my spare laptop. No power cable needed at all as USB3 power sufficient. Instantly recognised and data retrieved much quicker. HDD. Thank goodness for this advance in technology that allows for just ONE part needing no power cable and no confusion as to which end connects to what. Quality product and at such a cheap price! Old one has gone back into its box at the back of my cupboard now. Really pleased with this one.

The device works fine on my windows machine but unbeknown to me the chip inside it ,manufactured by jmicron, does not play well with the Pi4 or apparently linux in general. Since that is what I needed it for, this item has not done the job I need, but does work enough that I can see a use for it for the sake of the £5 I paid for it.
