want to buy these to use in my pc to ship it. will the product stop expanding or pop if the space is smaller than the smallest option?

They will expand to their full limit. If you put them in a smaller case they can cause damage to parts. When i used it the foam bent the support bracket for the GPU. I bent it back so no worries but this is something you have to consider.

I ordered this a couple of years ago. As I recall there are 2 in the package, or at least there use to be. I would double check as everything is "shrinking" and doubling in price.

After you pop the bag, how long do you have to place the item before the foam hardens?

I've never used them, but I've watched the guys in the shop and they only use seconds to quickly put it in the shipping box and lay the item shipping on top, so the foam forms to the item.

Can the instapak quick rt reaction be slowed down a bit if the packs are chilled before use?

No. If you try and cool it down you might not get full vol.
