Perfect Solution for Capping an Unused Toilet Drain - Sealed Tight and Installed in Seconds
I purchased this Oatey 4-inch test plug to cap the drain after removing a toilet from an unused half bath that we're converting into a linen closet. After removing the toilet, I discovered the existing toilet flange was offset rather than centered. My initial concern was that the plug might not fit properly or create a reliable seal. Fortunately, those concerns disappeared as soon as I installed it. The plug fit perfectly into the flange, and with just a few turns of the wing nut, the rubber expanded securely against the pipe walls and created a tight, solid seal. Installation took only a couple of seconds and required no special tools. The construction appears robust, with a sturdy plastic body, galvanized hardware, and a thick rubber sealing surface. Once tightened, it remained firmly in place without any movement. Most importantly, it completely sealed the drain and eliminated any concern about sewer gases entering the room. For anyone repurposing a bathroom, remodeling, or temporarily removing a toilet, this is a simple and effective solution. Overall, this is one of those products that does exactly what it's designed to do. It's well made, easy to install, provides an excellent seal, and gives peace of mind that the drain is properly capped. Highly recommended.

Plugs my ground level sewer clean out perfectly
I had a clean out pipe in the backyard broken off just above the ground. The area is shaded and the soil has rocks in it. I would have had to dig a hole about a foot deep and 18” across. Not to mention the cost of the pvc pipe and fittings. I saved at least $45-50. It took me about 30 seconds to install and tighten by hand. A perfect seal and fit. It seems durable and is easy to see since it is bright red. Very easy and secure installation.

Best RV dump plug
A buddy of mine put in an RV dump that goes into his septic tank. I got this plug and installed it instead of the PVC screw on plug and it's awesome! Those screw on ones are fine when you first buy them, but when they get dirt in the threads, or the plug gets damaged or it's super cold out, etc, etc, they are a pain to remove and re-install. Well, for me they are because I have Parkinson's and my hands don't do what I want them to. This little unit works so easy, and you can use it on threaded or smooth pipe openings and it seals tight no matter what. Even with the tight fit, it is still easy to remove. It's built rock solid too

Water always finds the path of least resistance
One particular morning in late spring, my wife and I were planning on going to the hardware store to pick up some paint and supplies as she wanted to paint a room a different color in our house. She was tidying up in the kitchen and putting the dirty dishes into the dishwasher when she let me know that water was backing up into the sink and not draining. I figured something had just gotten lodged from the rinsing so I grabbed a plunger and went to town. After aggressively plumbing the kitchen sink, the water finally let loose and started draining normally. "What a relief" I said to myself and my wife. I asked if she was ready to go and she said yes. I had to grab something from the basement before we headed out to get what we needed. Whilst down there, I was met with a different scent from what I am used to. The smell was that of fresh washed dishes. Low and behold, there was just that, hot water with fresh dish soap suds, cover part of my basement. Cue me and my wife grabbing and moving everything out of the way to prevent the water damaging anything important. This is when I noticed the main drain cleanout in my basement was squirting water out of the edge of the lid and pipe like a cherub water fountain you find in your mother's landscaped garden. Needless to say, the trip to the hardware store was a different one for me as I had to put on my plumbing hat and rent a drain snake to dislodge whatever was preventing the water to go to where it needed to be and not my basement. To make a long story short, I removed some roots from the drain (not enough in my opinion to cause such a backup) and whatever else was the major issue and the water was able to drain normally. The last course of action was to find a solution to prevent the main drain from backing up into my basement again, which I found that test plugs are a good solution. So I found this one and it fits nice once you tighten it in place of the old cap. I can't speak to if it will prevent water from squirting back through again but I believe it is sealed a thousand times better than the old dingy cap that was there. Edit: Well I can't make this up, but I wrote this review and went to bed. Woke up next morning to my wife telling me that the kitchen sink was backing up. The very first first thing I did was to run to the basement to make sure there was no water shooting out of the cleanout. To my surprise, it was completely dry. Never thought I'd experience some happiness when there was a backup in the pipes but I was glad that this plug sealed the water and kept it where it should be. The rest of morning into the afternoon was spent replacing the kitchen sink basket and snaking drains but at least I didn't have to mop the basement floor thanks to this plug.

Perfect fit
Bought this to seal off a toilet flange that we are no longer needing. This toilet flange was too hard to remove and at some point we may want to reinstall the toilet. The 4 inch sized one works perfect. A nice tight seal.

Great for my basketball base seal!
Used it to create a seal in my portable basketball net. The design was flawed to fit sand, so I cut the back and used this to create a watertight seal. Works great!
