Question 1

What is the actual number of noise reduction rating of these earmuffs? the "highest" is not an answer. i'm really unsatisfied with it's description.

1) "Instrument" test results is 34 decibels
2) -3 EPA Required "instrument Test results" is 31 decibels 
3) "REAL EAR" results Noise reduction rating is 26 decibels.

Will this cancel out the sound of my children screaming?

These ear muffs, along with a pair of Leight Max-1 foam earplugs, significantly reduce the noise I hear when I shoot my .357 Magnum, as well as the noise when the guys in the lanes on either side of me are shooting their .40 cal pistols.  But I can still clearly hear the shooting range officer's commands to the firing line while we are shooting.Unfortunately, I doubt that these, or any other noise reducing ear muffs will help with your situation.  When your screaming children see you wearing ear muffs, they will probably just scream twice as loud and a lot longer.  Have you tried medicinal doses of vodka every hour until you can't hear or notice their screaming?  (Just a thought, not a recommendation.)I think prayer is the best solution to your problem.  Go to your church and pray very intensely whenever your children are at home.  Or you might try taking your children to a beautiful church or cathedral far from your home to learn how to pray.  If you are quick enough, and lucky, you may be able to run back to your car and drive away before your children notice you are gone.  That should get you a few hours of peace and quiet!

These look great for professional and industrial users but are they also good for everyday use around the house for women, kids, studying & concerts?

Will these push so hard on the side of my head that it would be uncomfortable? (I bought and returned a Howard Leight pair because it hurt to wear)
