Everyone has a boss. And anyone who has aspired to move up the corporate ladder knows that their relationship with those they report to is crucial. In Managing Up Rosanne Badowski offers a straightforward, entertaining, no-holds-barred account of what it takes to make your relationship with your boss work to your advantage, no matter where you stand in the corporate hierarchy. Told through rich, colorful anecdotes about her years spent working with one of the smartest, most demanding and dynamic business leaders of the twentieth century, legendary GE CEO Jack Welch, Badowski reveals the secrets to career success she has gleaned over the years. At heart, it’s about working with the person above you to create a productive and effective partnership.Everyone is a manager, in one way or another, Badowski points out. She discusses first-hand what it’s like to have to be a mind reader, to anticipate the future, to plan for the unexpected, and to perform the impossible. With refreshing candor and a hint of attitude, Badowski’s advice is unlike any other. She advises us that “Impatience is a virtue,” to “Have no shame,” and to “Beware the too-quiet office.” Having worked in one of the most challenging, high-profile corporate environments anywhere, no one knows more about prioritizing, about making decisions on behalf of your boss, about sifting through a daily barrage of data and information, about multitasking at warp speed, and exhibiting grace under fire. Ultimately, Badowski says, excelling at what you do is about a shared passion for the job. Managing Up is an invaluable guide for managing your career and juggling responsibilities with finesse and confidence. It should become a management bible for anyone hoping to get ahead in their profession. Review: Five Stars - Written Review: This book is very ordinary - This is an ordinary chronical of EA.. Easy to read, helpful summaries at the end of each chapter. Recommended for PAs/EAs
Although written from the USA and from a commercial perspective, the lessons this book teaches cross those boundaries and can be used by most PAs/EAs to develop better ways of working with their Executive/line manager. Highly recommended read, a real page turner for those that want to develop. The summaries at the end of each chapter were useful in recapping what was said - so I am able to refer back to the summaries in future without having to re-read again, especially as the stories told will stick in my head for quite some time to come.

This book is such a fun read! I have worked as an executive assistant for 6 years - this book is not only funny and interesting but also a MUST read for any admin/support/assistant! She has great tips and strategies that are useful and relevant. Can't wait to read it again. I actually bought my boss a copy for his birthday. Just an all around great book!

Managing up show what is takes to succeed as an executive assistant!
I enjoyed the captivating stories (writen with a hint of humour) of behind the scene G.E. head office as witness by Rosanne Badowski. She succeeded in relating concrete teachings on being more effective at managing up with stories that make you ask for more. Visit Jack Welch G.E. CEO leading the multinational for another angle. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve professionally in the realm of relationship with superiors and with subordinates or to know more of General Electric philisophy.

Managing Up
I would like to thank Amazon.com first and foremost for the excellent and reliable service they provide to their customers. I was always afraid to purchase online re security reasons, but they have completely changed my opinion! I have read through half of Managing Up and can so far say that Roseanne cannot sum up the situation of being a fantastic EA any better! I can't wait to finish her book and put her wise learnings into action in my own position as EA to a very busy and 'impatient' CEO! Thank you Roseanne... you make me love my job even more knowing I can now acquire the skills to work efficiently and effectively!
