I have acid reflux and learned to take this, as well as zinc l carnitine, for stomach lining protection/healing. I stopped taking it after the last bottle, just assumed I didn't need it anymore. Recently, I started getting "the burn" after eating anything, and had to start a famotidine regimen again. Then remembered mastic gum, and immediately the problem was solved. Burn in gone. This stuff is just wonderful and no side effects. You should not take zinc l carnitine for a long period of time, so I am able to stop it now. I take one mastic gum first thing every morning. If I am worried about what I am going to eat, I take one before. It works on an empty stomach.

I was very skeptical about this product. I wasn't sure it something out there could actually help my severe stomach problems but I decided to try it. I have to tell you that this product is excellent. I used to suffer from severe stomach pains that were caused by almost all foods, and acid build up. Sometimes it was so bad I couldn't sleep and I would feel so tired and miserable.. my quality of life was terrible. I have taken this product for two months now and the results are wonderful. I no longer experience the pains I had after eating. I have been able to sleep well, and I no longer have to sleep sitting up, instead I can just sleep like normal. When I wake up in the mornings I don't feel any acidity anymore. I used to taste acid all the time in my mouth. My problem was so severe it felt like there was nothing that could help. I plan on taking this product for six months. Then I'll stop and hope that I will stay doing amazingly! This is the way I take it: In the mornings, as soon as I wake up, I take two capsules with water. Then I make sure to do something before I eat; anything so that I can give my stomach time to absorb it a little before I put food in it. Then after that I eat something small. I feel like this has worked very well. Before trying Mastic Gum I was on an alkaline diet. I have stayed eating a strict alkaline diet. For those suffering from acid issues, I would recommend Mastic Gum and trying an alkaline diet. I really wish that people who suffer from stomach issues (like I was) to try this product. It might truly change your life.

An okay supplement that I take daily for digestive health.

It has really helped my acid reflux. But I'm not sure how safe it is to take long term and haven't been brave enough to try dropping my acid reducer and use it by itself yet as it takes me days of pain to get back to normal if that doesn't work. But I was having break-thru acid using prevacid alone and this took care of that.

I honestly think this may have helped me. I'm not one for anecdotal evidence from a few people but thought I'd share my experience. Do not take this as evidence that this stuff actually works. For all I know, it could just be the placebo effect. I'd had a burning sensation on the left side of my stomach for a few months. It would come and go, and would only last for few seconds at a time. I would feel it every day at least once...most of the time 3-4 times. I've had heartburn and some indigestion over the years, but this was new, focused, and obviously different. Did some research and thought this could be h. pylori potentially causing an ulcer. Found that this stuff may help so decided to try it before going to the doctor since I couldn't find any adverse side effects. The burning was a nuisance but not unbearable, so why not? Took 1 capsule in the mornings on an empty stomach about 30 mins before breakfast. After 3 weeks, I did not have the burning sensation any more. It's been about a month since it stopped now. I stopped taking the mastic gum about 10 days after the burning stopped...I just started forgetting to take it. It hasn't come back since. This could just be the placebo effect. Maybe it's just a coincidence and I was healing anyway. I don't know. But I can't give it anything other than 5 stars since I'm feeling good now.

I purchased this thinking it was mastic gum in gum form, after comparing it with several others that were. Definitely user error… I’m sure I could’ve found that information I within the description. Wanted to drop a review for others who were searching for the gum form. This supplement isn’t returnable even if unopened :(

I purchased this product because it was inexpensive and I decided to take a chance. When I opened the bottle, I immediately noticed a distinct lack of Mastic smell - it's this unmistakable pine-like smell. For those of you unfamiliar with Mastic Gum, it is derived from the resins and volatile oils (something akin to Pine Tree sap) of the Mastic tree and volatile oils have a STRONG smell. I guess another way to describe this experience would be as if you had purchased a bottle of Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and it smelled like water. Rubbing alcohol has a strong recognizable smell of alcohol, as Mastic Gum should have the strong distinct smell of pine. This product smells like nothing. This clearly brings into question it's effectiveness. Then I opened a capsule and the powder inside tasted nothing like Mastic. Mastic gum has a very pleasant, but strong, pine-like taste. In fact, this product tasted like nothing. Not taking another chance, I just threw the bottle away. I'm sticking with my trusted brands Solaray and Jarrow.
