Is it the same as lr27a 12v battery for a garage door fob? thanks

If you search on ir27a you will find the result of Lr27A with a size of Length 27.5m & Diameter of 7.6mm. This is also the same dimension La 27A. if the battery you are replacing has these dimesions and is 12V then La 27a etc will be Ok

What is the diameter of the battery as I need it to fit inside a 10mm tube for a project I'm making?

Hi haven't measured mine but googled this if it helps.... A27 battery is cylindrical, 28.2 mm long and 8.0 mm in diameter, with a typical weight of 4.4 grams, and a typical capacity around 20 mAh. It has nominal voltage of 12 V. It is thus similar to the A23 battery, with almost the same length and the same nominal voltage, but thinner, made of eight LR732 button cells.

That would completely depend on the lights themselves. They would give you a list of batteries that will work for them as well as if they would be alright to use outside
