Excellent for reading in the bed
I read through a lot of reviews on this and other similar items. I chose this for two reasons. 1. Reviewers talked about it being 'firm'. That is something I needed. 2. Price. I was a little anxious about buying it without trying it but decided after reading reviews to give it a shot. I bought 2. I have back problems but like to sit in the bed at night and unwind on the computer or reading a book. I've done the whole "pillow prop" thing without a lot of success. My back problems have steadily gotten worse. But I just couldn't give up my nighttime reading. Most people talked about how it feels to sleep on it but I wont' be doing that. So far I'm loving it. I turn it vertically in my bed and it makes a great back support. Perfectly firm without a pillow needed. Just be very clear - this is a firm wedge. It is NOT like a memory foam. I won't "soften" after a few minutes. But if that's an issue, a pillow or possibly even a piece of 1" memory foam on top of it would make it perfect if that's an issue. But I didn't want one of those cushy pillows. That's what kills my back. The width is great - plenty of room for broader shouldered people. If you're hesitant about getting this - just do it. It is a good price and seems substantial. I don't think you'll regret it.

Good for my GERD
I use this so I can sleep propped up and not have reflux all night! What I don’t like: It takes a bit to break it in-it is very firm at first. I am a side sleeper so it can be a bit awkward. I am a bit taller than the average height so I use additional standard pillows with this to be comfortable. What I like: I like this pillow because It really props me up so I don’t have reflux all night AND I am not nauseated in the morning! This outweighs anything I would consider a con. Once I got used to using it, I loved it and I have ordered again and will order again and again.

Extra firm
First I would like stress that I have herniated disk all throughout my back, so having this type of option for sitting up is a huge benefit. I am disabled so I have a limited income so when I seen this pillow at this price I jumped on it. Pro's holds angle and shape perfectly. is a good height for reading or sitting on a laptop. very firm, not sure that's a pro though. exactly as described , no surprises. great for being able to sit up for longer periods. cons extremely firm, to the point i needed to put a pillow on top to be comfortable using. case seems flimsy, although it''s holding up so far, wished it wasn't white. It causes extra pain when trying to lay on it without a pillow. impossible to fall asleep on. Now keep in mind i have a bad back and I have been using pillows and everything else to try and sit up for extended periods, this solves that issue to a point. You are not going to fall back on this and feel all soft and fuzzy about it. It's very firm and does not have any give to it at all. I probably wouldn't buy again even though it has added some added time in a different position for me. I realize some of this is contradicting, if you have a bad back I am guessing you will understand what i'm trying to say here. I almost never give a negative review and with this product i'm on the fence. My wife hated it the first time she tried sitting back on it, which i agreed with until I added some extra padding. So it does it's job, just not comfortably.

Difficult to know until you try it yourself
This is one of those things like a mattress - everyone is a little bit different and so what works well for one person is just awful for another. This is not a pillow; it's a foam wedge. And it's not just firm; it's almost hard. It has less give than that extra firm mattress in the showroom. It has to be in order to support your weight well enough to retain its height. I bought this for recovery from acute reflux. Absolutely no way I could lay on it (my wife tried it and seemed OK, but then again, she prefers to sleep on plywood). I put a 2" latex topper on it, which probably would work for many maybe even most people. I added a several down pillows to shape it better to my back and head, and that made it tolerable. Another important consideration is it's 24" width and length. Some people, particular a larger or heavy-set person, may have their arms dropping alongside. I'm pretty lean; this wasn't an issue for me. But I'm also 6' tall, and that creates a very common issue with these 24" length wedges: It doesn't extend far enough down my torso. This forces me to bend at the top of my waist, which puts some upward pressure on the diaphragm that of course is not good for reflux; this could be particularly true for someone with extra weight around the waist. It probably is also iffy for side sleepers. I managed to work with the pillows in such a way I could make that work, as long as I didn't turn back and forth. It's best with reflux to sleep on one's left side, so if you can just stay in that position this isn't quite as much an issue. But it's not easy, and definitely doesn't work well if you toss and turn. The 7" height is about right for reflux, especially if you add a topper and/or pillows as I did. My gastro guy recommends a minimum of 8" (IIRC so does Dr. Oz). Again, people are different in this respect. But 7" is probably adequate for most. But just be aware that, again depending on your size and shape, you may find yourself sliding off the bottom repeatedly. The only way around this that I can see is to use the longer more graduated wedges, the 32" and 42" products which are much more expensive. I finally gave up on this wedge, tried yet another more expensive alternative, and ended up with just elevating the bed on risers. The sliding issue is more of a challenge this way, but at least my body is straight so surface wise it's like sleeping on the bed regularly and therefore I'm getting a much better night's rest. The short of it is, you won't know until you experiment with it yourself. This particular wedge doesn't have the issues that many of the other products seem to and the price isn't outrageous, so it may be worth the gamble.

Excellent high quality foam support wedge
WOW. The old version of this product was just okay. It used a lower density foam that broke down after a year or so. I wrote a review criticizing the foam, and it seems like maybe the manufacturer read my review and took it to heart. So, last week I rebought the product, not realizing it was from the same manufacturer. It has been completely improved. It is now made of high quality, high density foam. I fully expect this pillow to last well and hold it's shape. It is extremely firm and supportive. Great product! I also really appreciate that this wedge is NOT made of memory foam. Memory foam is not the right material for a wedge pillow, because it is not designed to hold its shape. Also, most memory foams smell weird and give off gas than irritates my nose and throat. But not the foam in this pillow. It is good old high density polyurethane foam, which does the job for years and years and never smells.

Amazing As A Back And Posture Support For A 440lb Man
I bought 2 of this product for myself, one for the bed, and one for sitting in my chair. My bed situation is unique, so I won't be covering or discussing that aspect of the pillow in my review, other than to say it's very firm, and works for my needs. As for a back support, I place this into my seat when sitting on either my sofa or my club chair (think of a club chair as like a sofa for one) First off, MAKE SURE THAT YOU PLACE THIS WITH THE "BOTTOM ANGLE" TO THE BACK OF THE SURFACE YOUR SITTING IN! When you first get this product, a information tag will be on the cover. The side that tag is on is the "bottom. " Flipping the pillow around will cause massive discomfort, as the angle will be wrong for good posture. In a correct position, this foam holds very sturdily as I rest my full weight against it. There's enough give to very comfortably cushion my lower back, but not enough to easily allow me to sink into the chair. I suffer from a consistent lower back pain, and I felt the pain ease immediately when I sat with this. The blue cover is a tad grainy, very reminiscent of hospital gown material, as other reviewers have stated. The zipper is average quality, but I would still not take my chances on putting this in a dryer on anything other than a low heat, and I plan on air drying my covers. When I buy this again, I may experiment with more thickness, but that is only because of how deep my club chair is, and I'd like to sit a bit more forward. The 7 inch is fine for the purposes of pain relief and comfort, and if used correctly, will not disappoint.

Don't recommend. Paper pillowcase; bad packaging; higher overall price.
Summary: Given the poor packaging, paper-like “pillowcase,” barely-sufficient height measurement, and higher-than-expected overall price, I definitely wanted to return this. But it’s not returnable. So I would recommend saving your money. Pros: -Nice dense foam. -There are no strange smells on arrival as can sometimes be the case with foam bedding items. -Less expensive than other 12” wedge pillows. Cons: -The “pillowcase” is super thin and feels like the paper sheets they use to cover exam chairs at doctors’ offices. The “pillowcase” already had a few loose threads on the outside when it arrived, and when I unzipped the case to wash it, the inside seams were covered in loose threads. (See photos.) I’ll be surprised if the pillowcase lasts even 1 wash. -Given that I will now need to buy a new pillowcase for this because the one that comes with it is so bad, the cost isn’t actually better than other 12” wedge pillows that come with better quality cases. (Most 12” wedge pillowcases cost about $20 - including the ones made by this same brand, which frankly, I expected them to include since they advertised that it came with a removable washable pillowcase.) -It’s not a full 12”, much less a plush 12". It's more like 11 7/8”. (See photos.) -The packaging (of the item, not the Amazon box) was sub-par. It came in a thin, loose plastic bag that had holes/ rips in it to let allergens into the bag. I was expecting a thick, vacuum-sealed package (which is how I’ve received other foam pillows and mattresses in the past), and this was the opposite. Considering that I got this to use while recovering from facial surgery (and planned to use it after that to help with allergy drainage), I feel like I need to clean the foam itself before laying my head on it.

I bought four foam wedges to compare.
This was my favorite backrest! I bought four foam wedges to compare. I'm testing them as backrests inside a windowseat enclosure. DMI Foam Bed Wedge Pillow, Acid Reflux PIllow, Leg Elevation Pillow, Blue, 12 x 24 x 24 inches DMI Foam Bed Wedge Pillow, Acid Reflux PIllow, Leg Elevation Pillow, White, 7 x 24 x 24 inches Memory Foam Wedge Pillow from 1790 with Removable Microfiber Cover (25x25x12) Alveo Wedge Memory Foam Back/Neck Pain Relief Pillow with a Polyester Pillow Case Sized 24 x 24 x 12 inches DMI White 7x24x24: A- Quite firm foam, and my favorite. I like to sit up rather straight, and not slump or recline too much when I read. This would be perfect for occasional support, but could induce bedsores if used by an invalid for a long time. It will need a separate cover or it'll look grubby from use. DMI Blue 12x24x24: C+ Same firm foam as the white, but more reclined due to its dimensions. It didn't give enough to be a comfortable backrest, and the increased angle meant more neck craning to see the book. Might be good for other applications. This would be perfect for occasional support, but could induce bedsores if used by an invalid for a long time. It will need a separate cover or it'll look grubby from use. Memory Foam 1790 25x25x12: C Your standard memory foam wedge. Gives more than the firm foam of the above two, but not enough to be comfortable as a backrest. The extra inch in height and width might be more expensive, but you don't notice it in practice. It will need a separate cover or it'll look grubby from use. Alveo Wedge Memory 24x24x12: A- This had the most comfortable cushiony texture. It's still too thick for me, but that was almost overshadowed by its comfort. The plushly textured cover is a delight to the fingertips, but will pick up stains instantly. It'll need a separate cover, too. All in all, we'll be using the two "A-" rated wedges to lean on, and the other two as lap pillows and bookrests. They will be good foundation for on a cool, breezy afternoon.

Bought it for my mother who has a problem laying straight on bed due to breathing issues. She sleeps well on this elevated pillow. I wish they could've provided an extra cover with it.

Best thing I have purchased for acid reflux - keeps the head elevated without causing a stiff neck. Also great when turned around and used to elevate the feet, after a long day standing - an easy way to have a quick rest with the feet elevated without stressing the back of the knee!

Keilkissen
