Excellent Keyless Gate Lock That's Built to Last
We've had this gate lock installed for several years now, and it's still working just as well as the day we installed it. It's held up through constant daily use and all kinds of weather without any issues, which speaks to the overall quality and durability of the system. The keyless design is incredibly convenient, especially when you're frequently going in and out of the yard. It operates smoothly from both sides of the gate, and the latch continues to engage securely every time. The construction feels solid, and we haven't experienced any rusting, sticking, or loosening over the years. Overall, this has been one of those products you install once and rarely have to think about again. If you're looking for a secure, well-built gate lock that will stand up to long-term outdoor use, this has proven to be a dependable investment in our experience.

No more strangers in my backyard.
We wanted a key code gate, but we didn't want one that required an app. This is perfect. The string, that you would normally pull, to open the gate, is hidden, and that string is only available once you enter the correct code to open the little key code box. When the box is opened, the box actually pulls the string for you. Because of the "hood", on the inside of the gate, people cannot reach over the gate to attempt to lift the latch up. So, this gate has solved our problems. There are no more strangers in our backyard. And, we now have privacy in our backyard. Update to this review, after having it for a few months. We love this keypad lock. The only downside to it is that, at night, the numbers are very hard to see. So, you need to pull out your iPhone to use it as a light source, and even then, the numbers are very hard to see, and it takes a few tries to get the numbers right. It's actually so difficult, that we've just decided to never use that gate at night. On another note, for people who are deciding whether or not to buy this, and are confused on the description of how the lock works.... if you've ever seen an unlocked garden gate, and you pull the cord to unlatch the gate, that is basically how this works. With this cool keypad lock, you cannot "pull" the string, unless you know the code, to get to the string. With this lock, you don't actually pull the cord, but the door of the lock pulls the cord, when the little door opens up(the door pulls the cord for you, because the cord is attached to the little door). We love this lock because we did not want to rely on an app, and internet, in order to open a keypad. We wanted to go old fashioned, and this keypad is perfect.

Improves Quality-of-Life. Quality of Parts Is Questionable.
I needed a lock where I can open it from the inside without a key but locked from the outside. The egress needed to be keyless in case of fire and I needed to escape from the house through the backdoor. The Yard Lock provided the solution. First Install The installation didn't go well. I didn't realize that the main part of the Yard Lock with the catching latch had to be on the non-door part of the gate. The bolt goes on the door. I had it flipped around and could not open the door! I didn't think at all until I had everything installed and realized I could no longer open the door. I wish the Yard Lock would state this clearly for dummies like me. Parts and Quality The screws that come with the Yard Lock are about 1.25 inches. They are too short to be useful and to keep the gate secured. Just like the 1-inch screws that fasten the strike plate to the door frame for your deadbolt are too short and can be defeated with a few kicks, these screws will likely come out of the wood with a few good kicks, too. The other thing is they are Philips head, and I hate Philips head with a passion. They strip easy with the high torque of my DeWalt dril. In fact, I stripped the heads as I was trying to fasten the catching latch and the plastic hood to the 4x4. The provided screws were not sized right for the plastic hood. I had fight it to get it to rough up the rim of the plastic hole. This means the only way to get them in is to destroy the plastic hood a bit. In the end I used some exterior wood screws (Philips head) that I have for fence board repairs to secure the plastic hood to the 4x4. They were smaller in diameter and went through the holes of the plastic hood just fine. For the catching latch, I used 3-inch exterior grade Torx head screws for extra security. For the bolt, I also used 3-inch Torx head screws. Now someone will need knee surgery if they try to kick the gate open. At least they gave consideration to the location of the screws, which makes it hard for someone to remove the lock and defeat it by unscrewing it. They would need a crowbar. At that point, it's probably easier to just climb over the fence and unlock the gate from the inside. The metal enclosure of the Yard Lock was torqued a bit as a result of my using 3-inch Torx screws to secure it to the 4x4. I could no longer close the two halves of the Yard Lock. I had to back out the screws to allow the Yard Lock to be square once again. Then, I could close the two halves and lock my gate. Torx Head Screws FTW! Did I mention I love Torx head screws? The bit grabs onto the head of the screw and keeps turning like a knife through butter. The bit almost always never slips and almost always never strips the head. Other Issues The sliding cover for the combo lock also is hard to slide open and close. This is not caused by torquing from the 3-inch long screws, as this is on the other half of the lock. It's just poor tolerances when they designed the lock. Durability Only time will tell how long this lock will hold up to the elements (rain and sunlight). I'm confident the screws will not rust, as I used high-quailty exterior screws. The screws that came with the Yard Lock look like they are zinc plated. So, they will start rusting in 3 to 5 years. For now, it's good to know that I've secured access to my backyard. This is where the sidedoor leading to the garage is located. I also have a a back door and a toolshed. Now, I can leave stuff out in the backyard without worrying about someone stealing it from my backyard. Now, I don't have to deal with nonsense like having to go out through the backdoor and around the outside perimeter of my house to unlock the gate. This would be the case if I used a padlock on the inside. Likewise, if I needed to go through the gate from the backyard, I would have to unlock the gate from the outside first, had I used a padlock on the outside. This just makes life a whole lot easier.

Second one, still like it.
My first one lasted about 5 years before the gate latch broke. Just replaced it with a new one this year and it's still a wonderful investment makes it very easy to get in and out of the yard without having to hop the fence

Works Great!
The installation went pretty smoothly. The instructions were clear and I was able to thread the wire cable through the holes with a slow and steady hand so that it didn't get frayed. I tried lining up the cable through the post as straight as possible (rather than at an angle as in the instructions) as I figured it would pull more smoothly in a straight line. Everything was installed nicely and then I tried to reset the combination. I set my new combination and closed the box and tried to scramble it...and the numbers wouldn't turn. I read in other reviews that the fix was to loosen the screws in the box. So I loosened up all 4 screws connecting the lock to the post but it didn't work. I even tried loosening them to the point where the lock was wobbling on the post but still no go. So I tightened the screws back up again and was about to call customer service when I had an idea that maybe the excess thin cable was hitting one of the screws when the box was closed. The instructions said to loop the cable around the screw post and tuck it under itself between the posts. So I just decided to tug on the cable to make the loop smaller so that the excess cable was all mostly in the center of the box. I closed the box, and it worked! All 4 combination codes could easily be turned! So maybe if you're having trouble and already tried loosening the 4 screws and nothing is working, try just moving the excess cable away from anywhere it may contact the screws (or maybe even cut off the excess cable). I am so happy I don't have to make a trip through the house and around the backyard just to open the gate anymore. I also have a tall door so it took a little effort to reach over to access the original latch but with this Yardlock I was able to install the latch lower so opening the gate is so easy now.

Defective hinge
Defective lock, dismissive customer service. I recently purchased the YARDLOCK Gate Lock from Amazon and at first was impressed. It feels sturdy, well designed, and is exactly the type of solution I was looking for to secure my gate. The product even came with a link to a useful installation video. However, the unit I received was defective. As shown in my attached photo, the lock does not close flush on the right side. In order to lock it, I have to push hard on the right side just to turn the combination numbers, which makes it frustrating and difficult to use. This was apparent immediately after installation. The back plate sits flat, the wood is flat, the screws are completely independent of the hinge, and even when removed, the hinge itself remained misaligned. I reached out to YARDLOCK for support. The email address provided in their paperwork (support@yardlock.com) bounced back as non-existent. Eventually I received a one-line response from Dan in their support team. His explanation was that the hinge could bend if one screw was too tight or if the lock had been hit while open. Neither scenario applied. This was a brand-new product that came out of the package warped. Suggesting overtightened screws or that I hit the lock is both false and insulting. The product was either manufactured defective or resold after being returned defective. Instead of addressing the issue, YARDLOCK deflected responsibility and implied user error. Based on my experience, this company does not stand behind its product. I will not buy from them again, and other buyers should be aware that if your lock arrives defective, YARDLOCK’s approach is to dismiss you rather than resolve the issue.

Great product once I got a replacement but poor customer service
The first item I received would not let me move the lever to change the code and wouldn’t close anymore even though the default code was always entered. I tried reaching out to the company and was made to feel stupid even though it was the product not working. I gave up with the company and tried Amazon and they sent me a replacement immediately which did work correctly and is working great so far. So if you have a problem with the product go straight to Amazon. The product company is not friendly from my experience.

Easy to install, works amazing!
It was easy to install, and it’s been working great! I love the design so that you cannot see number lock unless you open the cover, which adds extra security. You cannot accidentally leave your lock code as is because door does not lock until you change the code. I’m very satisfied with this product!

Hard to change numbers
I bought two, I have just installed both. Both are hard to cycle through the numbers to change from the correct access code, which has made a clever lock into a hassle. They do look good though
