Vegetable Korma

These are so great to have on hand when you need a convenient, but still healthy and tasty, meal. We tend to add a little extra seasoning to overcome that slight 'shelf stable prepared food' flavor that all food like this has, but I will happily eat it straight out of the package with no modifications too! Way faster than making our own curry and way cheaper than getting takeout. Many of the options are vegan too, which I really appreciate. I believe I've tried all the vegan varieties now, and they've all been great! The channa masala is my favorite :) Note: I believe my review falls under the vegetable korma variety, which to clarify is NOT vegan. They have since changed the product info to accurately reflect that, so I've changed my review to the above.

They recommend 90 seconds microwaving (after making a 1" cut in the top for vapor venting) but I found to adequately heat it in my microwave, it takes 2 minutes. No big deal. Nicely spicy without a high salt content. Utterly easy/convenient for a quick 300 calorie lunch. Looks like it has a several year (as in 2024, delivered 2021) shelf life. And it comes in several varieties! The amazon review questionnaire asked about portion size. If you're a hungry lumberjack out in the snow all day, you probably should eat a few. If you're normal, or watching calories, it's just fine. Highly recommended.

Always looking for items to carry or for travel with little fuss. The nutrition, taste & convenience here make this worth it. Hard to get the film off, but it's not a deal breaker.

These are not as hot as you'd expect Indian food would be. All the flavor without all the heat. Just enough heat to make it a nice flavor, but not enough to make your nose run. It's nice that they don't require a can opener. They have a long shelf life. I love having them around during hurricane season because they would taste great unheated. They are heat-and-eat, so they are great to have around when you are just too tired to cook. They are great over pasta, potatoes, couscous, etc. They are not a lot of food in each pouch. Great if you're on a diet, but not if you have an appetite. You may need to eat more than one or have something with it. These would be great for backpacking or any time you just want something quick. I like them when I want something to eat, but I don't want to snack on something unhealthy.

The Tasty Bite Korma has a lighter consistency than some other kormas I've eaten. The flavor is also uniquely milder. Not spicy, but has a blander taste, that allow you to add your favorite spices to heighten the good taste.

I discovered Tasty Bite at Costco from a free sample of the Madris Lentil. We just loved it and went on Google to check on other flavors. There is a fabulous website that rated all the different varieties and I ordered several more. I have not been disappointed yet. They are all high quality, tasty, and relatively low in calories. I usually make a big pot of basmati rice on Sunday and separate it into individual portion. Each morning I throw one of the rice portions and a packet of Tasty bite into a bowl to heat up at lunch. Perfect!

I'm not suggesting that this product has anything wrong with it. This is simply personal taste. I do not like the taste of canned corn, and I limit my intake of corn anyway. I grew up on fresh corn, family grown so most of what is on the market today will never taste that good. To the point here, when canned corn is an ingredient in any product, it alters the flavor strongly. The basic flavor and seasonings of this korma is pretty good. For me, I'll use the product but will find other veggies and possibly meat to balance the flavor. In the future, I will not purchase again because that overpowering corn flavor is just not worth it to me. I hope the company considers other options.
