Does it come with a cover?

No , but your heater has a cover that protects it, very easy to fit , just make sure you set the temp to minimum, I found the manufacturers setting too high...Regards Adam

Will this work with a 115 volt element?

Would this thermostat work with on older style side arm immersion heater that is 230 v 3000 w ? the immersion heater is a ge catalogue number sx3a2

My water heater is 140V only. I replaced the one that failed with a direct replacement.

How do you know your heater thermostat when out??

My water heater had no leaks so it was worth trying to repair it. After verifying that I did in fact have power to the heater I did a simple continuity test of the element. It showed that it was good so the only other electrical part it could be was the thermostat. I changed it and the heater has been working fine ever since.
