Burton Annex 28L Backpack

Designed for those serious about being and looking their best while constantly at work and on-the-go, it is an excellent combination of organization and presentation. When it comes to presentation, this pack nails it. The waxed canvas look (mine is beagle brown waxed canvas) gives a classic and durable look. The leather burton patch and metal straps on the front set this bag apart from similar looking bags. This backpack is like a really nice Jeep Cherokee, it's built to go off-road, but refined enough to use as an everyday work bag. My wardrobe (jackets, shirts, pants) have a lot of navy blue, brown, and grey, so the pack contrasted nicely with it. When it comes to function and organization, this packs pocket and compartment game is strong. The two side pockets are super clutch, and hold everything from a huge nalgene bottle to an umbrella to shoes (1 in each pocket), to coffee mugs. The very front of the pack also has 3 different pockets to store things. The designers made great use of space and real estate. The top of the pack has a soft-lined pocket for sunglasses, keys, etc. The inside of the pack has an awesome padded laptop sleeve, which can accessed through the main pack or through the side, which conveniently zips down. This is obviously great for going thru TSA lines. The only con I can think of is the the scale and weight of the pack when its fully loaded. It's not a super light backpack and depending on your height and size, it can look rather big on your back. Overall, I would highly recommend this backpack, and I think its an excellent, and much lower cost alternative to a Filson or similar quality pack which runs $300+.

I have owned plenty of backpacks, from light daypacks to heavy duty travel backpacks, and this bag is one of the best I have tried. I use it on the daily for school, but have traveled through multiple airports with it, camped with it, and taken it just about everywhere with me since I bought this backpack. It can hold an unreal amount of stuff in the center pocket, with large pockets on the side that are big enough to hold a 40 oz hydro flask with ease, which I absolutely love. The ease of access to the laptop sleeve makes for quick and instant access to my computer throughout the day, whether it be in class, at a coffee shop, or whenever I need my laptop. The one improvement I have is the straps that just hook in to the bag at the front by the metal hooks constantly fall off and dangle, but it isn't that big of an inconvenience to fix. Overall, this bag is an awesome and solid bag and a must have for anyone looking for a great backpack.

This was one of the few cool backpacks I could find that would fit my giant laptop and not look ridiculous on my time body. Love the color, love all the pockets for school stuff, and the quality is outstanding. The interior is big and you can fit a TON of stuff in there. I will be using this for a long time!

Worked terrific as personal carry-on and our daypack for Alaskan cruise. Padded tablet pocket was great, as well as water-bottle outside pocket and multiple smaller zipped pockets. Seems durable and well-made. We're not hikers or campers, but could see this used much more ruggedly without any problems. Also liked brush stroke camo - trendy without looking like it came from a surplus store.

Incredible bag! This is my second one. I had to leave the first one behind when I moved abroad, but it accompanied me on every single trip without any issues. I highly recommend it for travel!

This is my 4th Burton backpack, I love their bags immensily. This bag is great looking and has great aesthetics. Most of the bag is solid and good - zippers seem quality and materials look fantastic. The biggest setback is the shoulder strap/s - they feel very cheap and thin, not much padding - I couldn't imagine using this for anything other than short trips on campus or lite/short day treks.

The bag itself is designed well. It is however lacking some important details. I would like to have seen a leather bottom on this bag. The straps on the bag which come from the bottom and attach to the back of the pack come off all the time unless they are tensioned (Bag is full). The water proofing is done well. I would personally recommend that you get some wax and reapply, probably ever year or two depending on use and exposure. The lining of the bag is ehhh... alright. I personally would have liked to see something brighter to reflect as much light as possible, the reason being the bag only opens from the top. The inside pouch areas and the secondary "tablet" sleeve is so-so. I would like to have seen some better organization options inside the bag. I have resorted to using separate Maxpedition and Silnylon pouches to help organize. With any weight in the pack 20+ the straps become a bit small, and tend to wear on shoulders like they are made from sandpaper and malice. I would highly recommend a Kydex sheet added to reinforce the bag if you intend to carry significant weight (over 20 pounds), additionally the attachment points and angles for the shoulder straps do make it dig into your traps and lats (worse on the lats). The side pouches also allow for rain to get in because the top flap does not fully extend over the side pouches. Now for the good stuff. This bag has a very classic style, it is extremely appealing to the eye, and I have gotten many compliments on it. The pin stripe interior also is appealing to the eye, albeit not that bright. Adjustment of the bag is easy. Price was reasonable for the gear you get.

My son is SUPER picky but he absolutely loves this backpack. He will be using it in high school this year. He loves everything about the bag, all the compartments and how it holds his computer but the thing that he really likes is the bedroll holder straps on the back. Granted he won't use it as a bedroll holder though. Like most moms, I like my children to stay warm in the winter. My son likes to stay warm waiting at the bus stop and on the bus, but as soon as he gets to school he takes his jacket off. So rather than carrying his jacket all day he just won't wear one! Well now he has a place to store his jacket! He just uses the straps for the bedroll holder as a jacket holder!! Now he doesn't have to carry a jacket and I don't have to worry about him being cold!

Me encantó está mochila, creo que es muy versátil en su diseño y tamaño. La usé para un viaje de 12 días por Guatemala y estuvo perfecta. Las tiras externas fueron muy buenas para cargar mi tapete de Yoga. Muy útil para viajeros minimalistas. El diseño muy neutral la hace muy atractiva tanto para mi gusto como para el de mi esposo. I loved this backpack, I think it has a very versatile design and size. I used it for a 12-day trip through Guatemala and it was perfect. The outer straps were good for carrying my Yoga mat. Very useful for minimalist travelers. The neutral design makes it very attractive for both my taste and my husband's.

Great backpack, withstands daily school use. Laptop pouch, lots of pockets, good size. Very slightly water resistant. Can be further waterproofed. Straps on the back allow you to attach a skateboard or yoga mat (sideways).
