It’s been twelve years since Jack Masterson last set foot on Lestaron Island. Fresh out of college and lacking a clear direction in life, he’s been asked by his aunt and uncle to travel back to the place he once called home to settle his recently deceased grandfather’s estate. Jack has little to look forward to in regard to his return, outside of a chance to reacquaint himself with Katie, his childhood friend and former crush. When Jack discovers that his grandfather wasn’t broke after all, as he’d been led to believe, he’s surprised. When he discovers that most of the old man’s monetary assets have been left to him, along with the employment contract of a cute, young maid, he’s virtually dumbfounded. And when an old enemy of the Masterson family decides to strike in the wake of his grandfather’s passing, Jack is the natural target. After being turned into a monster by a beautiful woman who claims to be his new broodmother, he’s left with a new outlook on life, one that strides a thin line of moral judgement. Dark magic, enthralling powers, and a thirst for blood that just can’t seem to be sated. Would it really be so bad to give in? WARNING : This book contains graphic sex, a slow building harem, and increasingly disconcerting moral dilemmas. Review: Great vampire book - The Story was pretty good to be honest. The book will make you actually feel for the characters. Gonna start the second one now. Review: A different harem story - I did enjoy this book. A Urban Fantasy with mature themes. While it lays the foundation for a harem it is much slower than most other harem stories. While in most other harem stories the protagonist would have 2-3 ladies by the end of the first book, here not so much. While the main love interest has big problems with what the protagonist has become she can't really just kill him so we get to follow here internal conflict. While irritating to some extent its rather more realistic than most as she doesn't just throw her upbringing and training to the ground and jumps in the protagonists arms. The protagonist is struggling with what he has become but doesn't just lay down and cry about it. He realizes the pros and cons and tries to use the pros for good while controlling the cons to the best of his abilities. I say: If you want something other than the standard harem where the ladies just sees the protagonist and falls in deep love and throws everything aside to be with him, this is something you should like.

Good Book.
A very good story, the characters are well defined and the setting is superb. When I am reading, I am right there doing what is described by a quality author and this author has kept me enthralled.

Premise is decent, execution needs work
There's a conflicted, emotional story here but it suffers under a very stagnant feeling main character perspective and secondary characters who feel too one dimensional to be of any help. The main love interest is more often snide and confrontational with every little thing and the secondary one is very passive and underdeveloped. The main antagonist is really the only real character to feel like she has some effort behind her, and she herself is fixated on the protagonist a bit too much and is even then too vague about her motivations. I still liked enough of it to want to know more, but I'm hoping for better.

Polarizing
So read all three in the series before coming here. If you're a fan of uneasy choices, raunchy situations and supernaturals with questionable morals, then you'll like this series. If you're looking for a "good" MC and a straight Good v. Evil bash, this is not the series for you. Knocked off a star for some plot pieces that felt out of place, but it was a fun, heart-wrenching read.

Outstanding and highly entertaining
I love the characters and the story is really entertaining, pretty much nonstop action from start to finish. I love the characters and the way they evolve.

Interesting
A decent afternoon read if you are looking for a title to last you only a few hours. A decent prologue to a story and really need more to see where it goes and if it is worth pursuing as a series.

Not bad
That was pretty good. I thought it was a little weird that neither Peter or Katie mentioned the fight behind the majors mansion after it happened. But it was a lot better than a lot of these types of books on amazon.

Excellent
Great start to another series. Has a great dark feel to it, like the start of a haunted house horror movie. Fans of the arcane dropout series will enjoy this.
