Glyph is it. Fast, tough, but be careful, power surges can kill it.

Very durable, USB C, External hard drive. We are using it for additional storage for a small small camera system DVR. Works flawlessly

I got this Glyph external hard drive after I lost all of my files and photos on two Western Digital external hard drives. I was hesitant about the getting it because of the cost, but seeing that it had an SSD in it, was fast, rugged and made in the USA, I went for it. I have a laptop with Windows, so I had to to call them to figure out to format it, since it comes formatted for Macs. They answered the call quickly, spoke English, since they’re headquartered in NY, and stayed with me until I was sure I got it formatted correctly. I copied over thousands of pictures in very few minutes, which I liked, and was super quiet. So far it’s working great! I think with the SSD in it, I won’t have the issue of losing pictures, but time will tell.

Updated: The enclosure has big flaw, it doesn't power down properly after safely removing USB. After unplug USB cable, for SSD, SMART records unexpected power shutdown; for HDD, a mechanical squeaking noise can be heard. No other enclosure i have has this problem. Stay away from this product. * The case is metal except the cover side with USB-C connector and light which is a plastic piece. * Rubber sleeve is thick and appears good quality. Rubber sleeve has two footing that are stackable. * The drive inside is WD blue SSD WDS200T2B0A * The frame holding the SSD with 4 screws is plastic, it is one piece to the cover side. * Control chip of USB-C is ASM235CM. * two cables included are one foot long.

In January 2024, I got a bad drive from Toshiba. I held my photo back ups. It was irreparable so I retuned it for a refund and bought this. Now, less than two months from setting this drive up, it is no longer accessible and I can’t get anything off it. It makes a clicking noise while it operates. It freezes my Mac. It disconnects itself and other drives. My photo library is once again unavailable and I can’t repair or even erase the drive as it is. I am trying to find the manufacturer and seller to make this good. I will update if I have any luck. In the meantime, beware the Glyph Drive! (Update) I was impressed. They did get back to me. Two different people. One apologized and offered a full refund. I didn’t expect that, the other person said they don’t do refunds. So I have to send it back before they send a replacement, which, frankly, I don’t want or trust. Besides, there is private material on the drive that I now can’t access so I can’t send it back if I wanted to. So here I am again. And I really need a new drive! Why would one person offer me a full refund and one say no? Not a good sign.) FINAL UPDATE: Customer Service contacted me and gave me an option that worked fine for me. I returned my dead drive and them erased it using a degausser. Then they found the drive and sent me a new one. So things went full circle, I am pleased, and that is why I have upgraded my stars and review. They came through for me! 🏆

Love it. I run Pro-Tools sessions out of this drive and it’s lighting fast! I have the 1TB and it does very well.

Good storage product, I recommend it

I like the solid build. Only time will tell in terms of whether it will hold up. Several month and seems fine. My last high capacity portable drive (different manufacturer) suffered a single 3 ft drop onto cork floor and was destroyed. USB-C port broke from encrypted internal board making data recovery possible only by expensive professional data recovery service. Hopefully this one doesn't suffer a similar fate.

Le produit est de bonne facture, même si la coque de protection externe manque un peu de rigidité et a une tendance a bouger sur le boitier. Ce dernier est massif mais difficile d'avoir 5to dans plus petit sans passer au SSD. Par contre pour le prix, on s'attend au moins a voir un câble Thunderbolt, mais rien, juste un câble usb classique donc il faut rajouter 20/30€ a une facture déjà salée Pour le moment les performances sont correctes, même si le disque a une tendance a gratter. Pour le moment il est monté en Raid 1 avec un autre disque de 3,5" et je l'embarque lors de mes déplacements.

En principio lo reconoce y el funcionamiento bien pero no se tiene acceso al disco para formateo ya que uso W10. Espero encontrar solución para acceso, sino tendré que devolverlo.

Adquirimos este disco para un trabajo el trabajo de postproducción de una miniserie y funciona bien. Lo único complejo fue formatearlo en ExFat desde un windows.

Fait trop de bruit ! Obligé de le débrancher la nuit pour pouvoir dormir...
