Great String trimmer for the price
Once you get past the must have a battery run version, this string trimmer is hard to beat for the average less than an acre property. The string automatically adjusts out and works well on basic grass and yard edging. Nope not the unit pro gardeners will use but for the average John or Jane public homeowner. This is sturdy, powerful and does the job.

Lightweight and works well
Bought this because my husbands heavy duty gas weed eater was just too much for me to use. I like that it is electric. I have re-wrapped the spool once, and after looking at instructions that came with, got on YouTube and found an EXCELLENT, easy, video that made it seem so super simple, wish I had written down the name, but just google instructions, and for those of us who have never done this, makes it easy. DON"T try to figure out from the instructions, lol. I have also used it quite a bit to EDGE my sidewalk and drive. Works great. 60+ age, 5'4" and just right.

Just a silly toy
This was cheap, but still a total waste of money. Scotts should be ashamed to have their name on it, because it now calls into question the quality of their other products. This thing uses up line like crazy, and the feed mechanism is cheap and over-designed with the need to constantly fix/adjust it. Please don't waste your money. Buy tools, not toys. UPDATE, APRIL 2023 It went out to the curb today, I give up! I did notice that the price on Amazon has actually increased!!!!!

Cuts grass and light to heavy weeds. Bad handle. Bad string.
I just edged half my house with this trimmer, but it shot out its string before I could finish. It's not a huge house, this thing either shipped with way too little line, or eats it like a maniac. Not sure which. Power is great. The handle is awkward AF, I skip it and hold the machine just below the handle, which is also awkward but feels more secure. It gets the job done, and maybe that's all I get for $40, but order more string if you intend to use it day 1.

Difficult to find wound spools of 0.065 string as required for this trimmer.
I've had mine for a year and my only 2 complaints are that the motor mounted on the string head makes it a bit heavy, and I had a very difficult time locating wound spools with 0.065 line as stated in the instructions. Most of them were 0.080 line, but the instructions empathized use only 0.065. Finally, I found a Homelite electric trimmer that looked identical to Scotts. I ordered the Homelite spools with 0.065 line and they work perfectly in my Scotts trimer. I ordered them at Amazon , they are AC41RLe Autofeed Dual Replacement Trimmer Spool Line 0.65" 27FT for Homelite Electric Weed Eater String Trimmer.
