Great for tile floors and laminated wood.
This stick vac does a great job on tile and wood floors. Rugs and carpet works fine, but again some reviews expected stick vacuums would do a perfect job on carpets and rugs. I disagree, stick vac corded or cordless were tailored for quick pickups, vacuuming "broom" floors and wood. Great for corners, side boards, window frames (inside frame), beneath radiator etc.. The brush roll is great to pick up debris or hair (any type). My recommendation for pet owners to purchase a stick vacuum with a HEPA filter, the filter on this machine is a piece of cloth, very fine dirt can escape and cover the case of the handheld just in-case you are allergic to dust. That does not bother me; eventually I will mop the floor. I also was able to decide in the future “If” I’m planning to purchase cordless models (I would not recommend them that much) I noticed that with the corded version I was able to vacuum four rooms in ten minutes. That gave me an idea that Dyson (15 min charge) or other cordless machines would be suffice to vacuum four to five average room sizes. The battery won’t drain out. Unless it’s a big house then it would be advisable to purchase a corded stick vac. moreover, stick vac doesn't do the same job of a large vacuum cleaner when it comes to carpets, rugs, upholstery, furniture, curtains, and blinds. Large vacuum cleaners were designed for heavy traffic areas, long pile carpets or short pile, rugs, and other things that could be done around the house with a large machine. Always bear in mind stick vacs whether cordless or corded models were designed for quick pickups, floor, laminated wood, solid wood, and side boards, food crumbs on the table or floor and corners; depending on some models that come with attachments. (It would be preferable if you purchase a stick vac “two in one” or “three in one”) I hope this review was helpful. I will provide a future feedback about this particular model. Contact me for further info about this stick vac. I kind of had a hard time deciding on a model or brand. It would be great if you advise others or assist them if they need it.

I liked it so much I wrote a review
This vacuum cleaner is exactly perfect for me. Works on my persian rug as well as berber carpet and tile. Gets pet hair out of medium pile carpet and is incredibly small and perfectly powerful. The dustbuster part is easy to empty, and the pieces go together really really easily. Obviously don't buy it to vacuum a three story office building or anything, but that's like buying a catfish and being angry it doesn't wash your windows right. Be real with your expectations, fool. Some unexpected but convenient design features: the assembled vacuum is angled and weighted to stand up on its own with no moving parts or release buttons. I don't know why, I just like this. The cord is the right length whether you wrap it left or right to never have the plug-in land on a plastic piece (in my opinion the downfall of appliance cords everywhere). The on/off switch has three settings: off, dustbuster, and rolly brush. That way when just using the dustbuster it's not diverting power unnecessarily. The container can be emptied without disassembling at all. It seems like it won't work but it does, and that makes me happy. The dustbuster attachment has a groove to click onto the handle. Seriously, this feature alone is worth the purchase, I have not lost that stupid thing even once because of that snappy groove. Finally, all the buttons to assemble the thing are kind of quick release, and I can put it together completely one-handed. I have a few animals, and without too much detail, they tend to leave sunflower seeds everywhere. This thing is like a sunflower shell murderer. I don't think anyone else has that specific issue as well, but if you do this is the vacuum for you.

Great value, does a good job, a little flimsy
I was looking for a small, lightweight vacuum cleaner that would do a good job of vacuuming my rugs. Our robot vacuum doesn't seem to get the rugs very well, and sometimes can't quite get up on them. I have a shag rug and a jute rug, both of which require a lot of vacuuming. The jute rug sheds a lot, and particles can get down in the shag rug and are difficult to vacuum out. Plus, we have two pets (a dog and a cat) that both shed. I wanted a compact vacuum that wouldn't take up a lot of space, inexpensive because I only wanted it for the rugs, but would still work well. After reading several reviews, I settled on this vacuum, and I am pretty pleased with my purchase. It's a great value. I have to say, it did a great job of vacuuming my rugs. After just one run-through, it was full of dirt and hair. I like that this vacuum can be broken down into a handheld as well. My current handheld has to be charged constantly, so I rarely use it (because it's never charged when I need it). The only downside to this vacuum is that the vacuum head itself is pretty flimsy. When you go to pull back, particularly on thicker rugs like my shag and jute rug, it just flips right up, so it's really only sucking up dirt when you push it forward. I had to do a couple of passes on the same spot to feel like I was really getting everything.

Dirt Devil policy is extremely wasteful.
I ordered one of these to sweep up around my cat's litter box and it does an excellent job with that little job as far as I'm able to tell, but the unit I received has a defective handle attachment latch, so the stick with the handle won't snap into place. I contacted customer service hoping I could return it so the unit could be fixed and I could get a replacement, but customer service told me that they wanted me to cut the cord off of the unit and send a picture as proof so that they can send me a replacement, then said I could discard the destroyed unit at an electronics recycling center. This is purely to prove that the product which functions perfectly fine as a handheld vacuum has been destroyed. I could not bring myself to be so wasteful. The only issue is the handle won't snap into place. I can use tape or something to hold it to the unit, there is no way I can justify destroying a perfectly good handheld vacuum cleaner for what is essentially just an aesthetic and minor functionality issue. Tape doesn't look the best, but it will hold the handle in place and it's a bit more of a hassle to use the handheld function if I do tape it on, but I would rather deal with that than be so wasteful when I KNOW the plastic and other parts of the unit can not be recycled. Not happy with Dirt Devil's wasteful policy here. Other than the handle not attaching though, the vacuum is a great little unit and I'm happy to have it. If the handle would attach, I would give it four stars.

Only lasted me about 8 months of VERY LIGHT USE---UPDATED REVIEW**
LATEST UPDATE ON MARCH 18 2025 - I thought I had figured out a way to make this toy vacuum keep working. I unscrewed the part of the vaccuum that holds the motor where the turn brush is. After unscrewing the 8 small screws on the bottom of the machine, and carefully pulling the top portion off and around the battery and roller mechanism: I was able to see where a ton of hair had wrapped around the base, impossible to see unless you take it apart as I did. I did this with success recently and thought I had found a way to extend the life of this toy vacuum beyond the few months it had worked well. Today this pos toy vacuum again stopped working, so I again took it apart to clean out any hair / debris that needed to be cleaned. Put it back together, and it worked for 30 seconds before the roller just stopped working again. I will be throwing this pos toy vacuum in the trash and will buy a real vacuum next time. One that does not crap out after a month's use. Dirt Devil used to be a good brand in the past. Very disappointed in this purchase. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE DIRT DEVIL VIBE VACUUM UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE MORE HOURS CLEANING THE DARN THING THAN CLEANING YOUR ACTUAL FLOORS OR RUGS. UPDATE - SUCCESS! I got the rolling mechanism working again by taking off the top of the vacuum via the 6 screws located on the bottom w/a phillips screwdriver. There was a ton of hair wrapped around the rotator bar inside the lid on both sides of the spinning bar. After cleaning this on both sides, the vacuum works again. I just googled 'dirt devil vibe rotator stopped spinning' and quickly found an instructional online for this. I have only had this vacuum for 8 months, and the spinning mechanism on the roller has stopped working. I cleaned everything and washed and dried the filter. When I turn it on, the roller will only spin for about 10 seconds before stopping. The vaccuum still has power, but the the roller won't spin. The suction is also very weak. I want to return this for a refund, but I no longer have the box. I'm really disappointed. I don't have a lot of money, and this is a bummer. I've only used it maybe once per week on a oval 4 x 6 short height rug. I will update my review if I have any luck with a return from Dirt Devil for this Dirt Devil Vibe stick vac. Sad face here. *update: no luck with a return, and the vacuum is still broke. Picks up nothing. Was only used very lightly on 1 small rug, and broke after 8 months. I do not recommend buying this.

it's light ... it's powerful ... great for a disabled senior!
I'm in a unique situation. I am a partly disabled senior. I own a 2 story home and I already have a great (but HEAVY) vacuum that I leave upstairs. So I wanted a smaller, lighter, but still powerful vacuum WITH a rolling brush ... THIS IS IT! It's under 4 pounds ... yet it has a very long cord and powerful motor which sweeps / vacuums my carpets very well.

Excellent steal for a great cleaner!
I purchased this after the Shark Navigator we have had for three years finally decided to seize up and start blowing smoke. I've attempted contact with the manufacturer for the duration of the three years of ownership with no contact back, EVER. The brush would work at its leisure and this was frustrating with three small children making messes, but I refused to replace it because of how much it cost until it wouldn't work at all. That day FINALLY arrived last week, one month after we moved into a house with mostly hard floors and carpet only in the bedrooms. I initially considered going with another full sized vacuum but realized that would be a bit silly considering the bulk of our floors are hard, so this led me to looking into stick vacuums. My first consideration was the Monster by QVC, because I recalled hearing great things about it a few years back. I went to their site and noticed some very dismal reviews, in fact the majority were not good. So I googled "best stick vacuums" and one thing led to another and I ended up here on Amazon reading about this little guy. Reviews were primarily good and it was in the top 5 list of a review site I found so I bit. We needed a cleaner ASAP, and this seemed to fit the bill and prime would get it to me fast and for FREE. I won't lie, I had reservations about how it would do on the actual carpeting and rugs, but much to my surprise.... It blew the shark out of the water! The amount of dust, hair, and pet hair this thing picked up was INSANE. I had to empty it three times in one full pass of the house. This brings us to the only two downsides of the thing I can think of after the brief amount of time I've had it. The container is small, BUT not so small that it's annoying its just that we are a family of five and have a sheddy dog and a kitten to boot. We clearly are a hairy lot, and even with cleaning daily to keep things clean to my almost obsessive compulsive standards even the shark needed emptied weekly and cleaned monthly. The other downside is that the cord is shorter than I am accustomed, however, this can be remedied either with an extension cord or simply swapping outlets. Def not a five star deal breaker in my opinion since it cleans so well! One thing I adore about this thing at this time is how I can go literally from carpet, to hard floor, to rug without a second thought. Totally a steal for the price provided it holds up!

Wears out too quickly
UPDATE After almost 2 years of very lightweight use, we are disappointed, it worked fine when it was new, but we did not like that you have to carefully clean it after each use because the filter inside the canister is easy to clog. Worse is the fact that you have to use a scissors to cut the hair off the roller each time otherwose the roller will not spin at all and you lose 75% of it cleaning power. More expensive units have powered brushes which makes a gigantic difference, these low cost units are really only good for very light cleanups, light dust or very light dry dirt. Once there is too much hair that wraps around the roller (very easy to do if you have anyone in the household has any hair at all on their body then its useless and picks up almost nothing because the roller is not turning. The roller also slows down due to age so after two years of light duty (we only use it once our twice a month because we have a large very powerful unit as well) so it has a short lifespan. It does have a thick rubber strip that rubs against the carpet and acts like a carpet rake, this does help move the dust/dirt but does not help life the dirt into the container. We are surprised that after 2 years of extremely light duty the roller now doesn't spin despite toe much we carefully clean it. Yes, you have to clean it by hand every time you use it, which is definitely not desirable because it is intended for quick pickups so having to them clean it means that its not quick at all. Its great that it is AC powered and NOT battery powered because the fan spins at full power all the time, the power cord is long enough that I can reach two rooms from one outlet which is convenient and it appears to be more powerful than the battery powered model we previous had from tis company. Not recommended. Original review We were shocked at how tiny the box was when it arrived. Its certainly is slimmer and literally only half the weight of our previous top-of-the line battery operated Dirt Devil, yet this slim unit feels more powerful and because we plug it into the wall, it retains full cleaning power all the time and never needs to be recharged. Its an excellent cleaner, we ran over the same carpet that we just cleaned and this unit pulled up so much dirt and hair that it makes the battery operated units look useless. It's lightweight so its a joy to grab for quick pickup jobs so we don't have to drag out our huge super powerful full-size vacuum so its small size is a big plus. You can also unsnap the handle and floor sweeper to use it as a handheld unit to clean the sofa, windowsills, car seats, etc. The box it comes in is tiny so obviously you have to assemble it, but its easy. The flow sweeper snaps into the main vacuum, the shaft snaps into the top of the main vacuum, and the grip slides on the shaft, where they supply you with two black Phillips head screws, just insert the screws into the only two holes, tighten with (your own) Phillips head screwdriver, and its all set and ready to use. The 15 foot long power cord is plenty long enough, and because it is AC powered (no battery) it retains full power at all times and it never loses power no matter how long you use it, which is a great relief. Overall we are pleasantly surprised at how small and how powerful this unit really is, it is a great improvement over the previous battery operated Dirt Devils because its so light weight that it actually is much easier to use.

Damaged Product
I received the product but it doesn't work. Once I plugged it in multiple electricity ports it doesn't turn on. And on other note the box that it came in was also damaged.

Item was for USA voltage
As I live in the UK I expected the Dirt Devil to be OK for UK voltage and have a suitable plug. It did not, but an immediate refund given by the vendor, so no complaints!
