Easy to Setup and Works as Expected
After almost having a disaster when I had a hard drive go bad on my NAS device, I decided it was time to stop putting off doing regular backups. I don't trust the cloud, yes even the Amazon cloud...sorry Amazon, so I have my own NAS device to store my files which has two mirrored hard drives. Still, even though when one HD failed I still had the mirrored copy, I was sweating it for a little while. I have been meaning to setup a backup system for some time and the "almost disaster" finally convinced me it was time. It just makes good sense to backup at least the most important files. I purchase this just for that reason. I did not need anything special and I already had a 500 GB hard drive so this fit the bill perfectly and at a good price. I had it up and running in about ten minutes. After downloading some backup software I am now backing up my files on a regular basis. All that said, this is a nice enclosure for under $10. I would not recommend it if you are a road warrior or plan to move it around a lot. It's just not that solid of an enclosure and I would not expect that for the price. If you intend to use it in a similar fashion as I described here, it will work well and I can recommend it. If you need something that can get banged around a lot, I would plan to spend some more money and purchase one a little more durable.

Does exactly what it is supposed to do
All I needed was a simple case to hold the hard drive I removed from a broken MacBook Pro so I could transfer the data. I was not going to pay a lot of money for something I may use once, or twice. And it worked perfectly. Easy to open and pop in the hard drive. Plugged it into the new MacBook Pro, and it showed up. Just like plugging in a thumb drive. Simple pimple. I highly recommend it for this purpose. I would not trust it for continued use, as it is only a light plastic case. But it worked great for me.

Good USB3.0 speeds, cheap price, easy installation.
Package arrived as expected and without damage. Unboxed, dropped in an extra SATA HDD I had laying around, plugged into my USB3.0 slot and drivers were installed and recognized instantly. Also get great speeds with the 3.0 slot as it should! Very satisfied with the purchase overall only thing I'm worried about is longevity of the case. There was a metal option for another 2$ but being tight on funds I opted to keep with this plastic one, I hope it withstands the test of time.

Does what it's supposed to
I had an old 750MB laptop hard drive sitting around, and wanted to put it to use. This was the answer. It works as it should, but is limited on speed by the drive itself - like I said, it was an older one. I wish I could tell you it's blazing fast, but that hard drive is just plain slow. I'm sure it would work better with a newer SATA III drive instead of the SATA II drive I used. BUT... I've now got 750GB of external storage for my HTPC, put that old laptop drive to use, and that was my goal. I'm happy with it.

Easy Button Product
This case is built well enough and is so incredibly easy to use! I like it so much that I bought 2 more after my initial purchase. I have multiple drives and swap them in and out constantly with no problems to date. I use 2.5" drives and ssds both for audio production and for computer repairs (my 2 current hobbies) and these are perfect for my use case.

Hot Garbage Dumpster Fire!
Look im gonna be blunt with you, if you want a very think, flimsy NOT SNUG AT ALL piece of plastic to protect you TB's of precious archived data, then open your cabinet and get some scissors then carve up a tupperware container because THIS isnt worth $8....$4... OR EVEN $.99 . 1st its advertised to hold 12.5mm drives (basically if you have a new fancy 4tb HDD, even with force and duct tape this thing wont fit. And you KNOW DUCT TAPE CAN SOLVE ANY PROBLEM... EXCEPT THIS. and even if you put a smaller HDD inside, it will bang around in all the extra unguarded air like the 1st time you... well you get my drift. #2. The USB 3.0 interface it uses IS NOT a SATA converter. It will make your device identify as a SCSI (outdated back to when the Govt actually functioned ... some time in the 80's i think). And im not biased. I tested this on 2 Macbook Pro's, A Windows 10 Desktop, and a Linux/Windows Alienware (2019) ... FAIL FAIL FAIL... reading and writing was so slow i literally left a surface scan running all night and woke up 9hrs later and it was at 75%... now in comparison, i connected the same drive up to an external NON POWERED converter usb 3.0 and completed the same surface scan in under 45 min. Final eval , PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFLT!!!....... G- ... and yes that is a "G -" because an F shouldnt have to be associated with this crap.! If you have an infant or a friend with a baby, wait til the child has had some healthy portions of Fruit, Applesauce, and Sweet potatoes, and maybe some of those greens for good measure... then at the next VERY AWFUL diaper change, dont throw it away... go get your HDD, and just sit it inside the diaper then wrap the straps tightly around your hdd.... THAT WILL BE A MUCH BETTER PROTECTOR AND 20X MORE EFFICIENT than this styrofoam takeout material enclosure that i feel violated for even testing it when i knew it was garbage on sight. Buy some gum and a vita water.. while chewing and drinking, use that time to look at other enclosures. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Xmas to you all!

Perfect for my needs.
I had an extra hard drive that I wanted to use for backing up my hard drive. This enclosure works just fine. It looks nice and all I had to do was put the hard drive into the enclosure connect the cable that was provided and it's worked fine ever since. I like the light on the end and it's a very sturdy enclosure, not flimsy at all.

Has one massive flaw
update:: After buying a new external drive for my PC gaming needs, I moved this unit to my PS4 instead of doing the whole replacement hdd thing aunt makes you go through. Anyway, works better than when it was connected to my PC. Connects on power up for the PS4 everytime. ::Original:: Great value, with one major caveat. I have to unplug and plug it back in every time I start up my PC. For whatever reason, it's never recognized upon startup. Setting as I use it to store the over flow of my games (2tb internal filled up fast) this kind of sucks. Sometimes I forget this step, especially since the lights come on the second power hits it. Starting up a game launcher then seeing no games and having to close, run the external gambit, restart launcher and add the directories again is getting old. On the plus side installing the drive into the case was crazy easy. Even sometime that has zero tech skills could do it.
