Is this a thermal protection product I can use to protect from blw drying and flat iron damage ?

No, it's not really a thermal protection for your hair but it's a great uplifting foam. Biolage sells a thermal protection spray which also uplifts and protects the hair. It's in a pump spray bottle.

Can this be used on wet hair, without blow drying?

I always apply to wet hair & blow out after. Have never used it without blow drying my hair.

is the "thickening spray gell" the same as what used to be called "volumizing foam"?

No.... The spray is more of a texturizer that you spray in while your hair is damp. It works great. By itself it adds some body .The foam is More like the traditional mousse/foam
