Dries Van Noten [Golbin, Pamela, Bowles, Hamish, Logan, Joseph] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Dries Van Noten Review: A Belgian master in Paris - Not long ago Christian Lacroix curated a show at the Musee des Arts Decoratif in Paris where he picked clothing from his collection and paired it up with clothing from the museum archives. He was able to show how these vintage examples influenced or related to his creations. The Dries Van Noten exhibit takes it one step further by adding in art. After a short history and interview with the designer the bulk of the book is broken down into key words that describe his inspiration and few pictures that show the inspiration. These may be the direct inspiration or objects that match his inspiration. For example: “Butterfly” shows a piece from one of his collections, a Damian Hirst butterfly collage and a Schiaparelli dress. A short essay by Hamish Bowles about Dries’ country house and a lush photo spread follows. The book ends with a photo annotated listing of every men’s and women’s runway show. It’s beautiful book and you won’t be disappointed. You will LOVE this book!
Gorgeous book! You will constantly refer back to into if you work in fashion. There are great close up pics that are really helpful to see fabric manipulations, embroideries, and techniques. Highly recommend!

I saw the exhibition in Paris and sadly the book does not live up to reflecting the beauty of the exhibition. It was a missed opportunity to feature the clothes that were selected and highlighted in the exhibition. I felt that the book was lacking even though the presentation of a huge coffee table book with a lovely cover promised much. DVN is one of my favourite designers and his work is so rich in content and detail/handwork and the book could have shown more of these details and their relation to his extensive research. There were vignettes of outfits that were memorable from his runways and curated in the show but there was little to no feature of them in the book. I had high hopes for this but was disappointed.
