Remington MB4700 Smart Beard Trimmer with Memory Settings and Digital Touch Screen, Rechargeable for Cordless Use

I've been using the Remington MB4700 for about a week now, and so far I'm very happy with it. The standout feature is how easy it is to adjust the trimming length. The digital touch screen and memory settings make it quick to switch between different beard lengths without having to fumble with multiple guards. The battery life has been excellent for my needs, and it's easy to clean after each use. The trimmer feels well made and has performed consistently without any issues. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a beard trimmer, not a razor. If you're expecting a skin-close shave, this isn't the right tool. It leaves a clean, even trim, which is exactly what it was designed to do. I picked one of these up just to keep a 5 o'clock shadow as my wife/kids were not digging the full beard look. Lots of choices out there, but I chose Remington because of a very good experience with them. I also have their vacuum trimmer which works quite well as a body hair trimmer. After 2 years the vacuum trimmer stopped charging, I emailed Remington and the very next day, no questions asked, they mailed me a brand new vacuum trimmer. They didn't ask for the old one back or even ask for proof that I disposed of it, which would have been reasonable. In this day and age where companies seem to disappear the minute you have issues with a product I was extremely impressed with Remington's customer service. Anyway back to this trimmer, I really like the memory feature so it's always on 0.8 and I don't have to adjust anything. The cutting itself is great, but you have to make sure the head is completely flat which is a bit of a challenge on the jaw angles. You do have to have multiple passes with this one, I'd say several passes in both grain directions, but this is quick and a full shave takes me maybe 5-10 minutes at the most. It cuts very evenly as long as you keep the head flat and the battery easily lasts as long as I need it to. It even cuts unevenly if that's what you want, sometimes I want my chin/lip to be a bit longer than my jaw and it's adjustable enough to accomplish this and blend it well. The only wishlist request is a way to handle side burns as you can't get a nice line separating them from your beard without actually cutting the beard all the way right under the sideburn. I'm sure there is a better way but I haven't figured it out yet. 2nd wishlist item, I don't really like the mini-USB power connector, it's hard to tell which was is up and if it's properly connected. But overall a great little trimmer backed by very good customer service.

I had been using the same beard trimmer for over 5 years. It did the job but took a long time and probably was ripe for replacing. I did a ton of research and decided on this. The battery life could be way better - I don't know why they didn't put a longer lasting battery in it. The ability to adjust the cut by so little was great - I keep my beard short and this allows me to perfect the length. It's very sharp - while it still took multiple passes like my older one, it cut so much more evenly. You could tell after I was done that my beard looked far more professionally cut because of the length and the sharpness of the razor. I like that you pick it up and it's ready to go. I love the fact you can run it under water to clean it. I'm happy with the purchase even though I'll have to charge it more often. Also after I trim I take off the guide and gently use the razor to cut the hair under my beard and on my cheeks. It does a wonderful job of removing the remaining hair. Unfortunately no one has invented a good beard trimmer that also has a foil shaver module that works well. This would be nearly perfect if it had a foil attachment.

I mainly used this for beard, mustache, arm pits, and groin. Arm pits and groin you can use without the comb. For beard it worked amazing because you can store up to the four lengths and recall them as needed. I use a #3 and #4 guard for my beard which equates to approximately 9mm and 12mm respectively. I would recall those settings and just set it back to 1mm when I was done so it didn't try to spool up the motor to a raised height if I was using it without the comb. The blades cut well and stay sharp even with my coarse beard hair. I only had to drop a little trimmer blade oil on the blades themselves after a good cleaning around the year mark and I put one drop each in the gear slots where the guides for the comb are to lubricate the guide motors. I only did this because I noticed the comb was rattling a bit after the 8-9 month mark and the blades would get a little hot after extended use. The trimmer blade oil cleared up both. 2-3 drops on the blade and let it run for 15-20 secs while working it around the blades and 1 drop in each comb motor guide and run it up and down (about 9-12mm each time) a few times. Worked like it was brand new out of the box again. The only reason I'm buying a new one is it got used (by someone that wasn't me) and was allowed to get very wet under running water while the trimmer was running. Water got inside the trimmer while running and now the LED screen is messed up (I've seen other videos depicting the LED screen issue and they say it "happened randomly after a year or so". I'd be willing to bet it was due to getting very wet while in operation). This won't deter me from buying another one because it's THAT GOOD! The instructions explicitly state that while it can be put through running water to be cleaned it should only be done with the trimmer OFF and locked to avoid damage to the electronics. I would easily pay an extra $20-40 if there was an IP rated version of this trimmer with the same features. *Looking at you, Remington*

I initially bought this for the integrated adjustable comb which makes it easy to set the right height every time and not have to keep a collection of combs around. It only took a few moments to realize the true power of this device for my daily use though. The first thing that brought a smile to my face is the fact that it uses a standard USB charger. This is huge as I dislike having to track a collection of cables for various products that are only plugged in on occasion. It also makes travel a bit easier as you can always find a USB cable in a store if needed but trying to locate some one-off style charger can be a challege. Next, I was pleasantly surprised at just how well this cuts. I've used a lot of other trimmers that get the job done but they are clearly designed for trimming and don't feel very powerful. This one made me think it could possibly do as well as my clippers which leads to the next point - it does! I've used a set of corded clippers to cut my hair close but not shave it for many years. This trimmer (by the same manufacturer) cuts just as close, just as fast, and eliminates the cord!. I am impressed by this trimmer and am glad that I decided to some research before just buying one like the last one I enjoyed using. I highly recommend this product if you're interested in it

Great trimmer, best I've had! The digital interface is great, as is the feature to save the last trim length. Cheaper than other trimmers I have bought, but performs better. Have used multiple settings and its worked well on them all. Would recommend.

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like the adjustable guard, but it is really cool! The ability to dial up whatever trimmer length is surprisingly handy. The trimmer is easy to grip and easy to clean; I just run it under the shower head. I have had it for a few months and haven't had to recharge it yet. I am very happy with this purchase! UPDATE: I have had this trimmer for about 6 months and am charging it today for only the 2nd time. I use it to trim my beard about once a week. Works great! The guard is removable for defining fine edges. Very happy with this purchase! Update#2 - At 2 years, I still LOVE this beard trimmer!! Works just like it did when it was new! Last Update 4/23/2024 - well, a few days short of five years and the trimmer cutting bar will not start. Battery still fully charges and the comb still moves. The LED display has a few dim segments, but it's nearly all readible. Going to call them tomorrow and see if they will honor the warranty. I still love this trimmer!

First with the bad. If you want a bloody sack, this will do. If you go around the area I suggest you dont skimp out on length. Originally I tried at .8mm and cut myself, then I stepped it up to 1.8mm and tried to be careful and still cut myself. It isn't pleasant by any means, so I would keep it at least 2.5 and work your way up if you need more room. It's not only specific to the sack but other areas where the skin is a bit thinner and not as tight. Hair accumulates at the brush really quick, so if you are hairy you will have to stop, sometimes 10 secs after starting to get the hair out of the way to get the desired effect, otherwise the hair stuck will push the hair on the body and have it cut at a higher length or not at all. Initially I would take out the attachment and clean and put it back in. This scared me because the attachment feels like it is designed brittle and can only widthstans force while on. When I opened the bag where it came I thought thank God I did not force it out of the bag. (TIP) Now after usage I realize it is easier to use the brush and brush down, not up the attachment. this way the hair fall out the bottom of the attachment. I also was not pleased about the cleanliness of the product when I got it, it didn't look like it came out of a sterile place, not sure if it's because of the texture but this is the first time I ever notice something like this on a product. I shaved my whole body and I'm pretty hairy, I stopped midway to charge because I didn't want to have partially shaved legs. Good thing is this runs on cable so I shaved my face and left it charging for my second go. The pros are the length control, really close which is great for the face. I can imagine the length control being great for the eyebrows. I loved the closeness you can get on the mustache which is usually a pain point since it usually looks longer than everything else after being cut with other devices. Didn't have this issue with this machine and was pretty pleased with that.

The adjustable trimmer stopped working

Purchased in 2020. 5 years later and battery life is still excellent. Blades still cut nice and is very smooth. I can’t recall it ever pulling a hair. Probably the most precise shaver, since you can adjust increments of .1 mm. And it saves the setting you used last. It’s also easily adjustable using the up down buttons. I can’t say how well it works with trimming long beards as I use it to trim my moustache and then remove the guard for the remainder of my face. I keep it in the shower, use in the shower and fully clean with water and have zeros issues. Will continue to use until blades dull or battery pooches.

Fiest time using beard trimmer. Turns out to be a fine trim for my beard. Excellent product.
