Great light duty everyday tool
I'm my opinion, this is the best small utility knife for practical everyday use. Starting with quality, the materials are very solid and stainless tools are high grade. As far as tools go, everyone has specific needs but with the bottle opener being built into the body of the knife, you don't have to open anything up to use it. That's very handy if opening bottles is something you do frequently. Also the box opener is an excellent tool to have so that you know dull the main blade. I also really like that they're is a plyers and scissors and in such a small package they get the job done without adding all the bulk in my pocket, which leads me to the last point which is that it doesn't have bulk or any weight in your pocket, which makes it excellent for everyday use.

Great Multi-Tool
Great little multi-tool. Its very versatile, doesn't weight much, and its smaller size makes it easy to carry in your pocket. I hike and camp and its nice to have so many small tools available that you would otherwise not have with due to weight/space (e.g. scissors, plyers, tweezers, etc.)

Love it
Great key chain tool. Had one six years and I finally wore it out. The small size is great and only thing negative I have to say is not the products fault. The small size does make it weaker if you put extremely high torque or power behind use. At which point you likely using it when you should be using a larger version. The blades are sharp, the drivers work as expected for small tool, the pliers are super useful as long as you don’t go crazy with the power grip. The scissors are perfect for those small jobs threads, cord, fishing line, etc.. Mike keychain will never go without one.

Excellent Quality!
Do not listen to the negative reviews. They are from people who Baton logs with a 3 inch folding and call the knife garbage when it brakes. This is my first Gerber multi tool. I have expensive full sized leathermans, but wanted a small pocket carry for small every day tasks. This is the perfect key chain sized multi tool that will not do everything, but will do enough. The scissors are very good; not as nice as the small Swiss army scissors, but a close second. Drivers are of good quality. The spring loaded pliers are very nice and bite down nicely. This is a quality tool, made very well.

Good quality tool if assembled right
This is a pocket-size multitool with good mix of just the right tools. Quality of the materials meets Gerber standards (I also own a Gerber Suspension which I think is the best of its kind). The only issue I have with the Gerber Dime is the assembly. The first one delivered to me, the knife wouldnt open unless it was pried open. I replaced that one, but on the second one the file would barely open. I used WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil on it with little effect. Maybe it just needs to be broken in. I'll keep it. The blade is sharp and the box cutter is even sharper, so far its the most useful thing on board. The spring loaded mini-pliers and mini-scissors are handy, just dont put too much strain on them. The bottle opener is so small it takes multiple trys to pry open a bottle cap. There are also tweezers to help with the ever-present cactus needles we have in Texas. Compared with other pocket-sized rigs, the Gerber Dime is better designed with better materials. If you can get one that was assembled right, you should be happy with it for a long time. Update: Seems like the 3-n-1 Oil I applied finally made it to the point of friction. All the tools open more easily now. I used a knife sharpener made for pocket knives on the blade, now I have an edge. It's a keeper! This handy little multitool is going to live in my pocket from now on. Recommended.

A postmortem
I bought my dime a year ago at least. Maybe more. It served me well. It's small enough to carry constantly but it came in handy nearly every day. The tweezers and blade will take care of splinters. The box opener works well. The file is nearly useless. The scissors too, although between the two I was able to trim and file my nails with effort. I have tightened many a screw with the flat Phillips and slotted bits. The can opener will pop open a paint can. The little pliers were what I used most - I have weakness and dexterity issues I my hands from carpal tunnel surgery and they made a lot of small tasks easier. As you can see from the patina i used this little tool a lot. Today it finally gave out. As others say, you have to be careful not to put torque on the pliers. I was trying to twist an Allen key with them to adjust a truss rod and I twisted the pliers the wrong way. They're thin, and the steel finally cracked on me. Rest in pieces little buddy. You'll be missed. I decided to upgrade to a tool with heftier pliers since that was the failure point, but this little multitool is great as a very light duty utility tool. Get it if you want something lightweight that fits in a crowded pocket.

half is great! the other half disappointing
I would have given it 2 stars, except for one redeeming quality (see below and pic) that made me decide to keep it (well, half of it). If Gerber sold only the half I kept, by itself, I'd give it 5! But it's kind of a funny story... Context: After always having a Swiss Army Knife as a kid, I then carried 6 or 8 different multi-tools over the years, mostly Leatherman (wave and juice) and an older version of a Gerber gear mp600 that I modified to add scissors from a broken SAK. I carried that on my belt for years (the sliding pliers are great, though the quality of other tools is mediocre). When I saw the Dime I was hopeful; I've mostly carried the Squirt PS4 for many years now, I like how compact it is and I've left all the others around (car, backpack, office drawer, bike bag) so they are handy but I don't have to fit them in my pocket (I'm tired of the belt sheaths!). I actually had the squirt replaced recently under warranty, after about 10 years a plier jaw broke off and they sent a brand new unit that's even a bit nicer than the old one. So when I got my new Dime, I was not disappointed by the things I was most interested in: the bottle opener is great (that is by far the worst tool on the squirt, it barely works); and I LOVE the package opener on the Dime, and the tweezers. I thought the other tools would be comparable, it's mostly the same list, but after using the Dime for a while I realized that most of its other tools are basically garbage. The pliers are cheaper and thinner, and the pivot has some side play; the wire cutter literally cannot cut, it can only mangle wires of various types (I tried! how can you not cut soft solid copper 14 Ga wire? repeatedly bending the wire back and forth is more effective than this thing!); and the scissors also mangle, rather than cut. The file is way too short to be useful. The knife blade and two screwdrivers are fine, but I already have those on the squirt. After two weeks of using the Dime, I decided to get the squirt back out, but I immediately missed the three things I like most on the Dime (package opener, bottle opener, and tweezers). Then I realized that these tools are all on the same side. So I got a torx set that had a small enough wrench (I already had one that fit, but needed two), and unscrewed the pivot where that side arm meets the pliers, and pulled out the pliers and the other side that is attached to them (see pic). Replaced the pin, and voila! I finally have a new tool I love. I guess it's a half a Dime, so it's a Nickel! The paint got pretty beat up in the process, and actually the first pivot screw head sheared off when I was trying to loosen it, so I had to pull the whole pivot out of the other side. Doing that and reassembling it was kind of arduous, and I can never put it back in original condition. (But why would I want to?). Now it's a narrow tool that I can hang it on the same Nite-ize hook on my belt loop with the squirt, without too much bulk or tool redundancy (carrying both full tools took too much space, and felt stupid). The only thing the two now have in common is the regular knife blade, but the two blades are pretty different designs, so I will save the Nickel blade for careful/sharp tasks and use the squirt blade for more sturdy work - the squirt also has a sharper tip that doubles as an awl. And both knife edges will stay sharp and clean for a long time, because now I have that package opener, which really is amazing; I use that more than anything else! So thanks, Gerber, I guess... despite the disappointment, I now have something I'm really happy with... after a bunch of extra work, and throwing half the tool away.... :( At least it wasn't expensive. But I can't give it more than 2 stars, as a tool, when so much if it is such poor quality. I have to wonder about all the 5 star reviews, these must be people who don't really use tools much, or have very low expectations ... ?

Best Mom Tool
I have tried other brands and this one is the most useful, compact, durable, and sturdy. It is perfect for my mom bag. I use it to cut straws, open packages, and change batteries.
