This works great with the our fan. I really like that the switch can be turned off. Great addition the remote which I hide from tiny hands.

Worked great, just flip the correct combo to match the fan and your in business. installs like any other wall switch but does take up some space so cramming wires into the box is a bit of a chore.

Bought this to replace the original wall control which failed. It took quite a while for me to determine that this was the correct wall control to buy for my old-ish (2016) Minka Volterra ceiling fan, because God forbid Minka should provide that information. Kudos to the seller for helping me figure this out. Installation was a bit complicated because I live in an old building, and there were both old and new wires behind the wall plate. Once the spaghetti situation was figured out, it worked fine. BUT, there was a problem: it kept mysteriously turning itself off. I finally realized that this was because I had a different Minka fan in another room, and since the controls use the same frequency, using any of the fan controls would affect both fans. Once again...Minka's instructions & online information provides no information whatsoever on how to deal with this. After hours of searching I found a helpful YouTube video, and I will describe the solution here: you need to change the frequency on one of the fans. To do this, you do this: 1) Turn off the wall control. 2) Pop out the wall control's front plate (a small, thin knife helps to pry an edge loose). 3) Find the row of 8 dip switches. They are numbered 1-8, and should all be in the OFF position. 4) Flick one or two of them to the ON position. Doesn't matter which ones. 5) Replace the front plate and turn on the control. 6) Press and hold the center button, the one you use to turn the fan blades off. The fan's light will flash a few times. Once that's done, release the button. Voila, you have now reprogrammed your fan, and can control it separately. I trust this helps explain why I gave this control 3 stars. There is another reason: the buttons are ridiculously small and fiddly, and the controls are really not that intuitive or efficient. Really wish it it could be improved.

It is very convenient to have this fan switch mounted in a wall switch plate. Operating the light is especially useful in an office or bedroom. And it leaves you the original remote to use on a nightstand or desk too. A little expensive, but worth it. Make sure you order the correct model for your fan. I found it best to ask Minka-aire first.

Out of four of these wall controls I installed, one emitted an audible buzzing sound when turned on, so I returned and replaced that one, and the replacement works fine. All four now function correctly, though I'd like to see the light buttons larger (perhaps by offsetting them from each other) and the on/off switch light dimmed and made white rather than blue. If you're replacing an existing wall switch, it might save some frustration to discard the existing screws securing the wall switch to the electrical box and to the faceplate and use the ones supplied. For some reason not visible to my eye, the supplied screws are sized a hair differently and fit properly whereas the existing screws did not. This is a bit irritating if you're installing the wall control alongside a couple of light switches sharing a faceplate, because the screws might not match exactly, but that's not a big deal. The real pain is trying to use the old screws and having them not quite fit. If you have an older Minka-Aire ceiling fan, I recommend calling Minka Group customer service to find out exactly which receiver, wall control, and handheld remote control are compatible with your fan (and whether you need to replace not just the wall control, but also the receiver up where the fan's down rod goes into the ceiling as I did). If you're going to use a handheld remote control with the same fan, you'll need to set the handheld control to the same dipswitch code as the wall control. A good design feature of this wall control is that the dipswitches are on the front of the switch behind the switch's own interchangeable-color faceplate. Follow the instructions to "teach" the receiver the dipswitch code, which are basically to 1) turn off the power at the breaker box before you install the receiver and wall switch; 2) with the wall control on/off switch off, flip the breaker back on; 3) at the wall switch, slide the on/off switch on; 4) within a few seconds, press and hold the fan stop button (in the center of the big round multi-button) until the fan's downlight blinks (don't press any other button before the stop button); if the downlight doesn't blink within a few seconds, release the stop button and press and hold it again; if this step fails (it worked every time I tried it), turn the breaker off again and repeat above steps; 5) release the stop button; and 6) test the wall control to make sure all buttons work properly. A handheld control set to the same dipswitch code as the wall control should now work properly as well. In the absence of a wall control, I believe the above procedure can be used to teach the receiver the dipswitch setting using the handheld control instead. Setting a dipswitch code other than the factory default keeps multiple nearby wall controls and handheld controls from interfering with each other.

Very nice controller but had to exchange for a different model compatible with my receiver.

This wall switch works as expected, ensuring that a quick way to control the fan and light is available when the remote is misplaced or has a low battery. After the fan and switch were installed the light and/or fan would turn on or off randomly. Once I changed the frequency for the fan, remote and wall switch things have been fine. Apparently this can happen in apartment or condo buildings with several units. My only negative is that it is yet another device that for some reason has a blue led light on all the time. Not ideal for a guest bedroom.

Not being an electrician i must say as a novice these are easy installs and a simple sync to the ceiling fan. I've done 5 of these now. Even the wiring is labeled as to what is hot and neutral. Takes all the guess work out with mis-wiring. Its great that the item comes with three different face plates including white, tan and black along with matching colored screws. Tip: If installing many of these do as I did and write down the dip switch combos you use to slave the unit to your ceiling fan. This will make it easier to figure out what frequencies to set the others at without having to un-install the unit to see where you set the dip switches. 8 dip switches on each one, so many different combos you can do.I would say the only thing we don't like about the wall remote is that when it's powered on, the on off button is bright blue which you cannot switch off unless you power the whole thing off. wish you could choose whether that light was on or off. Other than that, great product.
