Perfectly Functional in Plain Appearance
BACKGROUND: I've been using this keychain daily since February of 2016, so as of now I have a half year of use on it. I have three primary sets of keys that see regular use: car, home, and work. I also have a bottle opener attached. USE: I have a single car key that I keep on one ring, a set of three home keys on another, four work keys on a third ring, and a bottle opener on the final ring. I am a pretty active cyclist, and I regularly take a specific set off the FreeKey depending on where I going: if I'm leaving from the house I will take only the house key set off and put that in my seat bag on the bike; if I take the bike somewhere on my car I'll take the car key off, put that in the seat bag, and lock the rest in the trunk. The same is true when I ride from the office. (I do this to save space in the seat bag.) The point of explaining this is because I routinely take keys on and off of the FreeKey, and it isn't always the same ring that is being replaced. It doesn't matter what order the keys are added to the FreeKey--they can be taken off or added back without having to load or unload other rings sequentially. You only release the one you want, and can put it back on without worrying about where it sits compared to the other rings. For someone who routinely swaps different keys on and off this is extremely helpful. REVIEW: The FreeKey works extremely well. The simple depression on the keyhole icon to open the ring and allow the taking or replacement of rings works flawlessly. (You functionally just give the icon a gentle pinch to open the FreeKey.) To date, I have never had it accidentally open or drop a key/ring from pressure or jostling in my pocket, handling, or any other use. It keeps the rings until you want to remove them, and then is very easy to do so. It's also very light, which is nice. It stands to reason that most people who attach multiple keys to something--which have a cumulative weight of on their own--don't want a keychain that feels like a lump of pewter by itself. The FreeKey is very good in this regard. It also has shown no signs of deterioration of the last six months. It still opens and closes as effectively as the day it arrived. I would give this 4.5 stars instead of five if allowed for one reason only: it's just a plain-looking ring. There are other key systems that look so much better, or that have personality. For me that doesn't really matter, and I am completely satisfied with this in every way. In fact, if this one ever is lost or does stop working I hope to replace it with the exact same thing. However, if you are shopping for a system and looks matter to you it is a point to note.

After 8 years, finally leaving a review
My keyring is on a lanyard, with 20 small keys, 5 big keys, a car key, and a few flash drives and keyfobs on smaller regular keyrings. After 8 years of daily use, this thing still looks and functions like it's brand new. I have never had a key come off when I didn't want it to, and I have never struggled to remove a key. It has not bent or deformed at all. I bought it on a whim and am so glad I did, it's not really something you think about until you actually have to remove a key and the anticipation of frustration hits you. With this keyring it's effortless, and you don't have to worry about damaging the ring itself. Every time I get to use it instead of a regular keyring my day gets 1% better. I would say for the peace of mind and time saved fussing with a regular keyring, this has paid for itself multiple times since purchase.

I love these
My only complaint is that these are a bit expensive, and I wish you got more than 3 little rings with each big ring. I bought a pack or two of extra rings, so now I have everything I need, but I wish I could have gotten everything without spending $20-30. That said, I like these so much better than whatever key ring my keys happened to be on before. The big ring really does make it easy to get things on and off without using your nails. It's pretty quick to add or remove something from the main ring, which lets me use these to be somewhat modular and only carry what I want at a time. Unfortunately the little keys do require prying with your fingernail to get things on and off of them, but you should only have to do that once for each thing you want to be able to carry on the big ring, and thereafter you can just slide them on or off the big ring as needed. I use one big ring for my main keys and have a house key, flash drive, and a little bottle opener multi-tool thing. I have a few other keys on small rings that I keep in a drawer, and if I need them, I can quickly add them to the main ring and remove them when I'm done with them. I use another big ring for my truck keys, which lets me add keys for my trailer locks when needed and remove them when not. At the end of the day, it's a key ring, but I find it to be significantly nicer than the average key ring, both because it looks nice and because the big rings make it so much easier to add or remove things.

Makes your key life much easier but its not perfect yet.........
You're probably looking at this free key system for one or two reasons.... One, you've spent way too much time fighting with keys over the years, or two, this company has mounted a very good ad campaign and you want to see what all the hype is about. It was both of these reasons that brought me to amazon in search of the free key system. The first thing you should know is that after purchasing my first, I came back and purchased 3 more. Is it perfect? No, not at all. I think their engineers need to come up with the freekey ii system based on user reviews and complaints. So here is my take on the highs and lows. Highs: - very clever design - keeps its promise of making keys super easy to put on and take off while holding them securely on the ring once they are there - light weight - three little rings for attaching keys and other things that have a smaller opening - decent enough price (if you can get it for under ten dollars) for what it is and what it does Lows: - I prefer my metal gadgets to have more curved edges. The edges on this are a bit more severe. Especially the littler rings - the main ring should be offered in a couple of different sizes.... for my purposes this ring could be smaller in circumference - the littler rings feel a bit flimsy. They probably aren't, but I don't fully trust them. BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for an easier way to put keys on and take them off your key ring, I think this will do the job very well. It is a bit awkward for some of the more modern oversized car keys, particularly the bluetooth keys. The designers have a great concept and I would love to see them expand the line. Overall I recommend this as one of the better solutions I've found for the pesky key problems

Very impressed, lightweight and slim - helped reduce the size and weight of my keychain "mess"
I was very skeptical about this FreeKey system. I had been using an aluminum carabiner for my keys because I have a few keys that I frequently swap to another set when I change vehicles. Well, the Freekey isn't as fast to use as a carabiner, but it is more secure (the locking carabiners are even heavier and bulkier), and extremely lightweight and thin. It doesn't add to the free length of a keychain - meaning with all the stuff attached, the Freekey doesn't let the items dangle even further and hitting me in the leg while driving. I don't keep a lot of unnecessary stuff on my chain. I have a work key, house keys, mailbox key, ResQMe keychain, flashlight, a gym membership tag, and car keys. The flashlight, believe it or not, is smaller than the car keyfob but is more than bright enough to light an unlit forest path under total darkness or for emergency car repairs (ask me how I know!). The ResQMe keychain is kind of important because it can be used to break car glass or cut through a seatbelt in an emergency. The other keys I have to keep handy because I'm a guy, and I don't keep a purse with unlimited storage capacity like Hermione has in Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. It's a good thing the FreeKey came with 3 smaller rings. Initially, I thought I wouldn't use them until I realized they could actually hold a great deal of items and still be a thinner, slimmer, and lighter profile than a standard key ring. One of these mini rings can hold about 5 house keys! All said and done, my final configuration has a much slimmer/shorter profile than before. The longest item becomes the Intelligent Access Ford keyfob for my vehicle. Overall: 5/5 stars. This is one of those small items that really comes in handy to clean up your keychain. Your mileage may vary, but it has the potential to reduce the profile and weight without useless clutter. The mini-rings can hold about 4-6 house keys which impressed me a great deal. The main FreeKey ring can hold a bunch of items. I highly recommend this for anyone that attaches stuff to their keychain, and this would make the perfect gift/stocking stuffer for that type of person.

Amazing design; durable; easy to use
It's weird to write a gushing review about what is essentially a key ring. But it's great and it took away a pain I only vaguely knew I had. I'm not an EDC maniac. I have a little multitool and flashlight. And a prybar, ok. Well, at times, when you're boarding a plane or going for a run, you need to take this bundle apart. Doing it with ordinary key rings would be nightmare filled with punctured flesh under my nails. This little metal ring makes taking keys off and adding new ones simple. It's 0 hassle. I'm writing this review after almost two years of using this. Not because something broke, but because I'm ordering a set of spare loops for more keys. It's this damn good.

5 YEARS LATER!!! WOW
I MEAN...COME ON...this ring is still looking AND working like it was brand new! I just looked up when I bought them and it was way back in 2/19!!! Unreal...and funny how you could get jacked up about a simple key ring...until you have one that works this well. What I love, besides looking good, is that it holds the keys perfectly and have never had the split open up and keys chase around to free themselves! The design is ingenious AND EASY to open, yet stays closed without warping!!

Does what it claims, but I still would like improvements.
A one-star review is rather unfair for this well made product. But it's a keyring; of course it does what it is supposed to do; even a piece of twine is adequate for this intended purpose. While my gripes are minor, and others will disagree with them, they should be noted. The bent metal in the middle of the keyring results in a nice and easy way to remove keys. But I would much prefer it not be bent and wind up being a little harder. This isn't a complaint against the product, but a complaint against the company for not producing a similar ring without the feature. Let's face it; is anyone out there really removing a key so often that this is required? This keyring has a very large diameter. Rather than making my key assortment look more organized, it results in everything looking janitor-ish. This ring would be better served by 50-75% of its current size. The flat metal itself is very wide. A key fob will not fit correctly on it (it fits, but does not easily move around). Instead, the fob needs to take up one of the smaller rings. This isn't really that big a deal, but it does mean that the product is only 75% as useful as expected. The smaller rings are rather expensive, and now I need to order a new set. In the end, I do recommend this keyring (and additional small ring set). It works. It looks nice. I just wish the company would make another size ring between the large and the small without the easy-open function. In the end, I might just get rid of this keyring and use only the smaller ones.
