Great for puzzles or hidden locks
The product is exactly as advertised. You get an RFID reader attached to a very simple locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is spring loaded and will forcibly eject the latch, which can either be useful or inconvenient depending on the application. You can power the lock with either a (very short) USB cable or two AA batteries. The USB cable is standard USB 2.0 to a 2.5mm bipole, so you may need to hunt around if you're looking for a longer one. Programming the lock is extremely easy, and you can program other 125khz RFID items like stickers. Perfect for if you want your unlocking item to be inconspicuous (i.e. not a fob or a card). You can pick up a pack of 10 stickers for $10 elsewhere on amazon, just search for 125khz rfid sticker. The lock comes with two cards and two fobs, but no stickers. It is annoying that the program button is on the opposite side from the latching mechanism. That means that if you want to reprogram and you've lost your master card you'll need to drill a hole for the reset button or unmount the lock to get at the reset button. On the plus side, the device keeps RFID signatures even when the batteries are removed, although I have not yet tested to see how long it retains programming. The mounting hardware is sparse, but functional. The hatch is stamped metal inside rigid plastic, so it won't stand up to any type of realistic forced entry. But that's to be expected. This isn't for high-security applications, it's for hidden applications or keeping honest people honest. If you are looking to use this in a puzzle (e.g. escape room, puzzle box) then you'll probably want to open it up to disable the speaker so the solvers can't get extra information, and you'll probably want to buy a longer USB cord (or really hope the batteries don't fail). There's not much more that one can expect from this item at this price point. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to hide a locking mechanism, then this will do the job.

Whiskey Bar lock, will buy again.
So I've had this lock for a few days and I must say I'm impressed. It comes with a back up power cord that I ran out the back of my whiskey cabinet for added protection. It is recommended not to have batteries and power source used at the same time but it is a nice added safety feature. I have a gas strut that pushes the door down and there appears to be no difficulty with opening and closing (about 20lbs of force). The package comes with two cards and a master card. These cards read through about 1.5 inches of material from my tests. The two included key fobs are a little less about an inch. Overall, I'm really impressed with the value.

For the price you literally can not do better
Not usually one to write reviews but figured I’d write one for this if you’re in a position I was looking for a solution. I ordered these to attached to an ikea cabinet which I would be using to store items I did not want guests or maintenance entering my apartment to accidentally come across. Ease of Installation: Installation is really straight forward, like really straight forward. If you have any semblance of common sense you will have zero issues installing it to a cabinet, drawer etc. Ease of programming: Again, ridiculously straight forward, programming a master key for the two locks I purchased, then individual keys for each lock took me less than 10 minutes. All it takes is following simple 1,2,3 instructions. Programming is a little more involved if you want to use the advanced features (dual key access) but still easy enough. Durability and functionality: Had mine for roughly 2 weeks now, opening and closing each cabinet door several times a day with both the master key and the individual keys, not one issue has appeared. Locks do not shift nor do they need to be adjusted as long as you use the included hardware. And this is with my both slamming the cabinet door shut on my way past it and gently closing it. Its been handled gently and abusively and has stood up to the test with zero issues. Battery Life: Can’t speak to that but like I said have had one of the locks for two weeks opening several times a day and not a problem yet. The instructions mention that once battery is low you will hear an audible long beep after opening it at which point you should soon after replace the battery. Then it will pop open on its own to avoid locking itself with dead batteries. Overall its a great little security feature for 12-15 bucks.

Locks you out if batteries aren’t installed
In the description for the locks it says that it will power down in the unlocked position when you change the batteries. I had made a box with very expensive wood for a client and tested the mechanism which worked fine. After I had unlocked the box I took out the batteries in order to ship the box to my client. The door closed and locked…. So now I have a custom made box that I’m supposed to ship out and I am completely locked out. I tried contacting the company with a question or advice on what to do and they haven’t responded. I’m left with the only option of cutting into the box which will ruin it. Not happy.

Frustrating gadget, expectation destroyer. Needs a miracle to install
It's almost impossible to install on a drawer. The installation diagram is useless. The screws they give you are big and can damage a nightstand. The USB connector wire provided is like 1 foot and if plugged with batteries in the unit you hear an unnerving humming. I spent 3 hours trying to install it. Every part of it should line up perfectly for it to work, I mean in the 1/16 of an inch perfect. I wasn't able to program one of the cards to get it to open, 3 out of 4 not so bad. I don't recommend it for drawers. I do recommend it for cabinets if you can access it from the back. The only way to get it to work perfectly from first try is if you can install both parts while attached. Which is impossible for most people. Yay got it up! After using all my tools and lots of prayer got it work on my twelve try.Mom always said St. Rita is best.

Using to secure a cabinet door from the grandkids
I purchased 2 of these to secure a couple of cabinet doors from the grand kids. I have some upper cabinets where I store ammunition and other gun related stuff (cleaning supplies, ammunition, holsters, cases, extra magazines, etc.) that I don't want the kids getting into. These have worked out well. They of course are not security locks. They would be very easy to defeat for anyone intent on breaking into a cabinet, but to keep casual nosy kids out, they work well. They were very easy to set up. They come with 2 programable key cards and 2 programable key fobs. They operate on 2 AA batteries (not included). In the event of low batteries, the lock will automatically unlock. There is also a USB cable that will allow you to connect to a power source should the batteries go dead and the door is locked for some reason. Installation took some figuring. Trying to figure out the placement of the lock and latch inside a closed cabinet took some doing, but if this old retired prison guard can figure it out, most people should be able to make it work. This turned out to be a very inexpensive way to easily secure stuff I don't want the kids getting into while still allowing me ready access to it as I need.

Never forget where you hid your keys to open these locks.
These works great. Once installed it is hard to open when locked without a key. I like the fact that it has a setting where you have to have two types of different keys to open. The only problem I have with it is that I keep losing my keys resulting in my cabinets being locked all the time. LOL but that's my fault for forgetting where I hid them. Definitely worth your time and money. Read all the instructions when going to install it and make sure everything lines up.

Makes loud noise when unlocking
Works well but makes loud noise when unlocking plus they only give you an adhesive for one of the sides.

No support from seller.
I initially had a question about the product and the seller responded in a few days with a solution to my query. I followed their instructions and now my cabinet is locked and none of the cards or fobs will unlock it. It has been over a week and they have not answered my questions.

Many parts missing from order but refund was instantaneous
The order arrived very quickly but the latch , battery cover, usb cable and sticker was missing, no instructions whatsoever in box. Contacted seller and a refund was processed immediately, props for this only. Seller did not claim the original package, I nevertherless installed batteries to see if the unit works, but it seems defective, only beeps and does not unlock, reset button also defective. So buyer beware.
