I have a wireless mouse with keyboard dongle and Bluetooth which would take up 2 slots. Plugged this in one of the onboard usb 2.0 headers and attached the dongles. works like a charm. Now it looks sleek with out any dongles sticking out that can be a bit of an eyesore. I would say the reception on it is what you expect. I have no way in doing any accurate tests but I can say that my case is a cm storm scout 2 and have it about 2ft away from my feet on the ground. Also I picked this over the one that's stacked only because I worry on attaching 2 dongles together as they may not fit in the ports together. Review: Works as it should - The product works as it should, however I am removing 2 stars due to the price and outrageously wasteful packaging. This device is just a couple of inches long, however the box it shipped in was massive.

Makes USB available internally
I am running FreeNAS OS on a server appliance. The operating system runs on a USB memory stick that is plugged in to this riser. This makes the package very compact, with no external gadgets plugged in.

Worth its weight in gold
this is an excellent product to use for people who wish to use an internal drive or extra storage for cheap.

Frees Up Two External USB Ports
This is a pretty nifty device that frees up two external USB ports. I built a Mini ITX PC using UBUNTU 12.10 for the Operating System. UBUNTU does not take up a lot of space, so I installed it on a USB thumb drive instead of a HDD. This adapter holds that thumb drive which is, naturally, installed on the motherboard tucked away INSIDE the case. Now, I don't have to worry about someone removing the OS/thumb drive from an external USB port on the back of the case, thus rendering this PC completely useless. Also, I installed a wireless USB adapter on the second port. Again, since it's inside the case, it can't be accidentally removed by anybody! Now, I have a wonderfully small PC that's WIFI enabled minus the bulky antenna! I can move it from room to room anywhere in my home and will always be on the network. Kinda like a Laptop with WIFI, but bigger. I have a bit of tweaking to do to get the signal strength up on the WIFI adapter. Being hidden inside the case blocks the signal quite a bit. But, that's a pretty easy fix ..... Highly Recommended !!!

Exactly what I ordered
Okay so I am using this for my freenas server. It is actually quite convenient and because the usb ports are sideways it allows for me to switch to a smaller case in the future should I decide to do so. It works perfectly.

Great adapter
I paired this adapter with my mini SATA to USB adapter to run a slimline optical drive internally in my micro ATX case. This allows me to keep the drive in the case without having to sacrifice a SATA port on my motherboard... Not only does this device keep a slim profile, it gives you two internal USB 2.0 connections on a single USB header. What can say? It's perfect.
