IXUS 150

The camera appears to ok but it was supposed to be new, only it didn’t have its box or instructions and the battery was missing. We haven’t tried loading photos yet.

I had a canon IXUS that I purchased in 2005. It was a great camera and went all over the world with me. This replacement was less than half the price I paid 10 years ago. Excellent. Simply marvellous. Buy one immediately. I can't believe they do little money buys such s perfect camera. Get one right now.

good picture but very annoying battery charge - you must remove it then plug in the separate special charger, doesn't charge from USB when you plug it, don't waste your time, buy something else. Picture quality isn't everything.

Camera seems to be functioning very well. It takes good pictures in a whole range of lighting conditions and is, from my experience, quite responsive. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that the instruction manual is a download of HUGE proportions and not really practical for printing 'at home'. In this day and age it can't be so expensive to produce a full printed manual to put in the box! And given the range of features in this little camera I should have thought it essential to explain how to get the most out of it. Not everyone who buys one of these is an 'expert'. Shame.

This product arrived with a 2 pin plug charger which in this country is illegal !! Sending back straight away ! Very disappointed as it was a birthday present !

I've tested quite a few compacts lately and they do vary in quality quite a bit. This Canon is in the more affordable price bracket, but a step over the super budget £50 models. The IXUS 150 has a quite nice zoom range (8x) wrapped up in small compact body. And bucking the trend from some makers, you do get a real battery charger and don't have to charge it in camera! (which is nice) My quick summary after field testing the IXUS good/bad points: Pros: + Handy 8x 28-224 mm equivalent zoom range, a step above some compacts in this price + Pretty good image quality for the sensor size + Excellent 1 cm macro (at the 28mm end) you can get some really good close up shots, much closer than some rivals (5 or 10cm is common) + Autofocus locked on well in most situations, the AF assist light helps in low light (I'd avoid using the tele end too much as it will struggle to focus due to the lens speed) + Fairly snappy performance, quick start up this is a point and shoot that is responsive and quick + Has lens based stabilisation which works very well esp useful for night shooting and lower light levels + 2.7" 230k dot LCD is fairly clean and clear even in harder lighting, not the highest resolution but in this price range it's normal + Movie quality is respectable for a budget compact (even though it's not full HD) + Good flash exposures, power balanced well with the scene (no real white out issues as you get on some compacts) + Battery life isn't bad for a small compact I got over 220 shots per charge, there is an "eco mode" that extends battery life some more + Simple to use with a help button if you get stuck. Menus are straight forward and easy to navigate Cons: - Lens speed is a bit slow at the telephoto end f/6.9 not ideal for lower light shooting - Optics are not bad for this price, wide angle corners not as sharp as I'd like but would be fine for normal printing. Quite sharp at the tele end. - Movie mode is 1280 x 720, 25 fps, not full HD and has mono sound - Image quality takes a bit of a dive in darker levels, I'd try to keep it to ISO 800 and under. - No panoramic mode and no software CD supplied in the box - Slow continuous shooting at under 1fps Whilst it's a simple point and shot the Canon does pretty well overall. The Smart Auto does a decent job in most cases. You have quite a good selection of filters and scene modes such as toy camera, fisheye, black and white, a low light mode (that drops the resolution to 4mp to reduce noise) An i-contrast mode that helps the dynamic range in harsher lighting. You also get a ZoomPlus 16x mode to enhance the zoom range (it's ok but don't expect miracles image wise) and the usual assortment of other creative effects. Controls wise fairly simple, you do have exposure compensation and a choice of metering modes. There is a long shutter speed mode that allows you to do longer exposures up to 15 seconds (handy for night tripod shots) On balance it's actually quite a well featured little compact, more so than most in this price range. I think it's a good buy at this price, Canon have done a mostly good job with a fun compact that's easy to use and takes quite respectable photos. Don't get too carried away with the megapixel number or marketing claims, you can get some decent A4 prints from this compact which is about as big as most people will go. Compared to the £50 compacts I've tested recently I think this is worth the extra asking price. Recommended for folks looking for a nice small compact, that takes pretty good photos and is wallet friendly.

Eigentlich habe ich meine geliebte EOS, nur auf Reisen oder wenn man etwas steiler wandert, dann kann es ganz schön stören. Ich bereue es keinen Sekunde. Auf meinem letzten Trip habe ich bereits über 1200 Bilder und einige Videos aufgenommen. Jeden Abend brav aufgeladen und weiter ging es. Die "Kleine" hat zwar viele Spielereien (auf Wunsch) arbeitet jedoch im vollautomatische Modus einwandfrei. Für Tieraufnahmen auf weitem Gebiet grenzwertig, aber für reine Urlaubs- und Familienfotos schon fast zu gut! Wie gesagt, es sind viele Funktionen verbaut - jedoch reicht auch ein OFF/ON drücken -> BILD-Taste drücken -> ERNEUT OFF/ON drücken. Heute vielleicht eher Standard, aber dass die "Kleine" auch noch das Datum in die Ecke druckt wie bei alten Bildaufnahmen mit Negativ - perfekt. Gerade für Urlaub, Familie, aber bestimmt auch für den Beruf nützlich - wenn man etwas dokumentieren möchte. Man kann erstaunlich nah an ein Objekt heran gehen und die Schärfe wird gehalten. Nur in der Nacht hatte ich auf Distanz ein Objekt in den Nachthimmel (ohne Beleuchtung) versucht zu fotografieren. Hier war die verständliche Grenze erreicht. Der Blitz blitze und erhellte die dunkle Straße vor mir, aber nicht das 300m entfernte Gebäude :) Bis jetzt habe ich das Handbuch noch nicht angepackt - evtl. kann man hier auch mit Belichtungszeiten usw. arbeiten, aber dafür habe ich mir die "Kleine" nicht geholt und ich weiß es bei meiner Großen um so besser. Passt perfekt in die Hostentasche, zack raus, Knopf gedrückt - bereit in 1-2 Sekunden. Kurz um: Für die bessere Qualität zum Smartphone, aber nicht zum Preis einer Reflex - genau in der Mitte. Ich behaupte frech: Perfekt für Rentner und Kinder geeignet die kein Smartphone brauchen/wollen, aber eine einfache Kamera möchten. Stoßfestigkeit kann ich nichts zu sagen - dass teste ich auch nicht (freiwillig) :)

Estoy totalmente satisfecho y encantado con la compra de esta cámara digital Canon y de sus resultados. También tengo una Olympus y una Ricoch de similares características , pero la Canon me ha sorprendido. Precio muy competitivo, y Amazón como siempre perfecto con el envío.

Ich suchte eine für die Hosentasche taugliche Zweitkamera. Die Canon IXUS 150 habe ich nun seit einem Monat im Einsatz und bin sehr zufrieden. Die Bildqualität ist besser, als ich erwartet hatte. Die Auflösung reicht auch für Ausschnittvergrößereungen, Farben kommen auch beim automatischen Weißabgleich recht natürlich, beim Zoom habe ich auch voll ausgefahren kaum Farbsäume feststellen können. Die Kamera hat für den Preis natürlich kein lichtstarkes Superobjektiv, für Innenaufnahmen bei Tageslicht reicht es aber noch. Den Blitz habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert. Eine SD-Karte ist nicht im Lieferumfang und muss extra gekauft werden. Zum Laden des schmalen Akkus gibt es ein externes Ladegerät. Die Akkulaufzeit habe ich nicht gemessen, sie hat aber für ein Ausflugswochenende mit rund 100 Bildern und zusätzlich einigen Minuten Video dicke gereicht. Für längere Touren ist ein Zusatzakku empfehlenswert (z. B. von Lookit). Wie bei den meisten Einsteigerkameras ist der Deckel für den Einschub von Akku und SD-Karte sehr empfindlich, da sollte man beim Wechsel immer gut aufpassen. Als preisgünstige Schnappschuss-Knipse sind die Einstellmöglichkeiten begrenzt. Im Modus "Live" sind immerhin Farbstimmung (kühler - wärmer), Farbsättigung (natürlich - kräftig) und Grundhelligkeit (dunkler - heller) einstellbar. Im Modus "P" (Programmautomatik) gibt es noch ein paar Einstellungen mehr. Leider gibt es für das Verhätnis von Zeit und Blende keine Einstellmöglichkeiten, das regelt allein die Automatik. Die verschiedenen Szenen-Modi nutze ich kaum. Einige zum Fotografieren bei Schnee oder beim Feuerwerk können sinnvoll sein, andere sind Spielerei. Überrascht hat mich die Videofunktion. Wem die 720er Auflösung ("Einfach-HD") reicht, kann damit auch kleine Urlaubsfilme aufnehmen. Hervorzuheben ist insbesondere, dass der Bildstabilisator kräftig aber weich reagiert, so dass auch mal ein Schwenk ohne Ruckeln möglich ist. Das in einem kleinen Loch neben dem Einschaltknopf versteckte Mini-Mikro bringt natürlich keinen Kino-Sound, ist aber recht unempfindlich gegen das gefürchtete Wind-Bollern. Bei viel Wind klebe ich noch ein kleines rundes Pflaster drüber und habe damit fast soviel Windschutz wie ein Profimikro mit einem aufwändigen Fellschutz. Fazit: Für rund 100 Euro bringt die Canon IXUS 150 als "immer dabei Kamera" erstaunliche Qualität bei Fotos und Videos. Für Gelegenheitsknipser und als Zweitkamera reicht die IXUS auf jeden Fall aus. Gegenüber Einsteigerkameras in der Preislage von 60 - 90 Euro lohnen sich die paar Euro mehr für bessere Qualität im Sensor und im Bildstabilisator. Für entscheidend bessere Bildqualität und v. a. größere Einstellmöglichkeiten muss man schon mindestens 200 Euro zahlen.

Vorab: Ich hatte die Kamera nur einen Tag und habe sie dann zurück geschickt. Daher möchte ich an dieser Stelle nur meinen ersten Eindruck von der Kamera kundtun. Dieser erste Eindruck könnte sich im Nachhinein sicher als falsch erachten. Glaube ich aber nicht. Nachdem ich das Gerät ausgepackt hatte, fiel mir als erstes die sehr billig wirkende Verarbeitung auf. Die ganzen Knöpfe machen keinen stabilen Eindruck. Insgesamt wirkt die Kamera nicht wirklich robust, sondern sehr "günstig". Das war dann auch der Hauptgrund, warum ich sie zurückgeschickt habe: Wenn mir nach dem Auspacken als erstes durch den Kopf geht, dass das Gerät vielleicht gerade so die Garantiezeit überlebt, dann ist das nicht das, was ich von einer Kamera erwarte. Ich denke wer eine günstige Snapshotkamera zum gelegentlichen Fotografieren sucht, liegt hier genau richtig. Wer ein Gerät sucht, dass häufig im Einsatz ist, dem würde ich eher empfehlen mehr Geld in die Hand zu nehmen und eine wertigere Kamera zu kaufen.

Eine sehr gute Camera, leicht zu bedienen, eignet sich auch für "Frauenhände" (ich meine ungeübte Knipser) Das müßte als Beurteilung doch wohl genügen
