A True 10 Minutes Top

I have never had a good top like this so I can't compare it. Its not a whole lot of fun, but it is fun to try and get longer spin times. It is easy to spin even for me and I have bigger hands. After alittle practice I get about 12-13 min spins. The glass you can buy and the one you get with it definitely help with spin times and control. They are pretty close to the same thing, I'm pretty sure its the free one that is kinda thin and has a rubber ring around it, but the other is alot thicker and has a high polish. My only gripe is the 2 tone top I got is 2 pieces that fit together really good, but my 1st one started coming apart when I'd spin it if I didn't keep squeezing it together. I reached out and they sent me another that isn't coming apart like the first. The piece is small so it could be a choke hazard. I would get a one piece/ tone option if I did it again.

It was delivered promptly during the Christmas shopping season. Top + spinning base. It is a quality top. If you are willing to spend $60 for a top to spin 10-15 minutes, vs $25 for a top that will spin 5 minutes, then you will be pleased. The design takes some getting used to. The main body is quite low to the ground. This is necessary to achieve a low center of gravity and the longest spin times. However, this requires a person to use correct technique. You can't just take it out of the box and spin it with all your energy on the first attempt. The sides will drag on the tabletop or whatever spinning surface you're using. With a controlled effort, sacrificing RPMs for a vertical spin, the top will spin 10+ minutes almost every try. I have gotten up to 15 minute spins regularly ( just using a digital clock, not a stopwatch ). It seems that I reach a point of diminishing returns, where more forceful spins only add a little more to the spin time. This is certainly partly due to my lack of expertise. Still, I expect that in the world of high-end expensive spinning tops, "you get what you pay for." Manufacturing tolerances and material used become extremely important. Unless I can perfect my launching technique, I I'll be satisfied to not pursue a more expensive design. ;-)

So, I don't know if this is 'cheating' or not, but using a piece of string and a small tool I was able to get a spin of 20:06. The top has a hole in its shaft making it possible to use the small tool to keep it upright when pulling the string, after winding it around the bottom of the shaft. With this method, I can consistently get 18+ minutes, with 20:06 just now being my best duration. So amazing. Of course, it is more that I ever expected to pay for a top, but is it worth it? YES! For the hours of entertainment it will surely provide. Great desk toy to add to the collection!

I purchased the High Performance Spinning Top with the highly polished base and I got great results without very much skill at all. In the first couple of days I was able to get close to 14 minutes on my record spin. I really like how the base keeps the top well contained without any risk of bumping or send the top off kilter. The base works really well but I would like a larger one in the future if one becomes available. The top itself is well made, heavy and it has a good grip. If you like tops, and you have a dream to make it spin forever, then this is your chance to try =) Not to mention this top looks pretty cool (IMO) and honestly the copper and silver tones make this stand out.

My son wanted to order this top, and unfortunately the first one came apart on the first day. But the seller advertises that you can contact them if you have issues, so I did. They responded very quickly, and they sent another one out immediately. The second top is fine, and it spins FOREVER. It's pretty amazing how long it can go -- probably close to 15 minutes when you spin it just right. If you like precision tops, definitely give this one a try, especially knowing that the seller backs up the product with such great service.

Tops are always fun. This one is smooth as silk, very attractive, very well made, and runs for a long, long time with little effort. It meets expectations and hopes as a desk toy for those days when nothing seems to be going right. It draws attention and envy without being too much of a distraction.

I have bought quite a few finger spinning tops and this one is in a class of it's own - vastly superior to all others. Spun it for ten and a half minutes on my third attempt. Don't worry about other brands - just get one of these. You'll be very glad you did.
