Excellent!!!!! Runs quiet! Update April 2023
Update 4/5/2023 Still works and still is quiet however we are noticing a sound in the water pump. The water trickles out for a few seconds when dispensing has stopped which is annoying and fills up the collection tray quickly. I emailed Brio and have not heard back from them. Hoping there is an easy fix. Update 11/5/2022 Still running perfectly. I wanted to add an update regarding other reviews mentioning noise. When you place the 5 gallon bottle in the cabinet take notice to the pump and the the hard plastic tubing. If the bottle or tubing touches the pump you will hear a loud rattling sound. Simply pull the bottle towards you with enough room to still fully close the door and that should solve the problem. Also twisting the bottle to wrap the tubing around the bottle helps as well. The video you see is the sound of the ozone generator. It runs for an hour and a half then shuts off. So please don’t think the video shows how loud the unit actually is. The actual running sound of the unit is very quiet. This review includes positive experience with customer service (for Brio) which is a good thing! Also includes positive experience with Amazon returns. Also comment about video in the end of review. MAKE SURE YOU LET THE WATER COOLER SIT UNPLUGGED FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE TURNING IT ON. Let the oil settle so your cooler lasts a long time. Yes, their is compressor oil in refrigerating items such as this. Same applies to air conditioners and fridges/freezers. Let it settle as the cooler was most likely shipped on it’s side. This is as per the manufacture. Not mentioned in instructions but from customer service call that I made. They need to update their manual. As of right now two days after receiving this water cooler I have nothing but positive things to say about it. It works perfectly. Hot water is hot. Cold is ice cold and the best one is the room temperature. I prefer that when rest of family likes cold. The water pump makes a low noise when pumping water back into the cold tank as well as the hot. Pump works continuously on room temp, but stops when you stop filling your cup as it should. The compressor seemed loud the first day but the next day is seemed to have settled in. (Remember the oil has to settle so yes it’s like an engine that needs oil. Let it do it’s thing. Let it break in) The best thing about a bottom loading water cooler is no more violent splashes against the wall or wherever your current top loader is. You know what I mean. Now it’s easy breezy just insert the nozzle and slide it in. Close the door. DO NOT OPERATE THE BUTTONS FOR WATER UNTIL YOU INSERTED NOZZLE INTO CONTAINER. You’ll ruin the pump. Only negative thing about this is it is low. So you have to bend a bit if you are moderately tall. No big deal. Not worth taking a star off a review for that. The first water cooler that was sent was damaged really bad. I submitted a return request and was instantly given a return label to print out. Option to have UPS pick up or bring to UPS location. I opted to bring it to UPS myself as the UPS workers here seem miserable so why make them even more miserable. The second one arrived in perfect shape. When the second one arrived I called Brio customer service and within minutes was connected to a human being. This is a really good sign that this brand has good support backing up their products. I called to inquire about if this should sit for 24 hours prior to turning on and they said it should sit to allow it to settle. This holds true with any refrigerating device but I thought maybe it would be different here. Glad I called. They were super friendly. Regarding the negative reviewers: One person said they had to press really hard on the buttons to get water. Did you think to remove the thin plastic film that is over the surface for protection during shipping? That’s the reason why. Your low rating should be deleted. Another person reviewed this and said it arrived damaged. You do know you can send it back and they send you a replacement at no additional cost? I did exactly that. The first arrived damaged so I sent it back. Two days later the current one arrived in perfect condition. Don’t review a product based on damage. Take pictures of damaged package before opening and then take pictures of damaged product just to cover yourself if they don’t believe you. My experience overall is positive. I think some of the negative reviews are based on not operating the cooler properly and not noticing their is a protective film over the control panel. Added video of the ozone self cleaning in operation. It sounds like their is an ozone generator with an air pump pumping it into the cold water holding tank. You can hear it bubbling. Not loud it makes a humming sound and it’s supposed to shut off after 90 minutes. Pretty cool!

Brand has changed from Great to Horrible
Water cooler has changed and is absolutely horrible now. I have purchased three Brio’s (2 high-end/1 low-end) in the last three months and all have a critical flaw that makes the entire brand not worthy of buying. New water coolers come with a disgusting metallic taste that ruins the water. There has always been a “break in” where you flush a quart of water to fix it. Not anymore. All three units I had to run over 20 GALLONS of water, and do at least three full cleanings to reduce the taste. I contacted support and followed their instructions and the taste still there. Returned one unit, thinking it was defective, new unit exactly the same. THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR INTERNAL TANKS. I say this as a customer who has used and loved the brand for years, both at home and at work. Everything else about the water coolers are great. Nice and cold/hot. Study construction, good controls. However if the water is undrinkable, what’s the point. Don’t buy Brio. If you want to chance it - don’t start by flushing with good water. You will waste many bottles. Use an empty filled with tab water for your flushes. 0/10 star products now.

QUIET!!!
I've used this Brio dispenser for around two weeks. It is the quietest Brio dispenser I have ever used. It cost more; put you get MORE! I like the clock feature, the 3 cold water temperature choices, the single hole dispensing, the night light, and it looks great! Sleek and modern. I recommend!!!

Easy to use & so modern looking!
We were getting ready to package the unit to return it for being defective when we noticed something we had not done on the unit... low and behold, it solved the problem! We love this water dispenser and highly recommend it! There is a protective plastic film covering the touch panel that you can easily miss removing. That film was preventing the child safety lock & hot water to work properly. It was always a struggle to get hot water because pressing those buttons was a constant hit and miss. Now it works perfect! The unit is very modern looking, only has 1 button that dispense water which is nice and doesn’t drip at all. The unit is quiet and very well built. It doesn't look like a cheap unit. The hot water is HOT, you will get a nice cup of hot coffee or soup. It’s nice that you can control how hot or cold you want the degree to be. The cold water option is nice but we prefer room temperature water so the unit is ‘totally’ quiet (not a single sound from it) because we don’t use that feature. We were feed up of constantly filling the hot water machine on the counter as well as the cold reserve one. This unit solved a bunch of problems from constantly filing containers and eliminated the extra clutter on the counter.

Short 1-year limited warranty
I purchased the Brio Water Cooler with high hopes of having a reliable and efficient way to enjoy cold and hot water in my home. At first, the cooler seemed to work perfectly fine, but unfortunately, my experience with it took a nosedive shortly after the one-year warranty expired. Within a few weeks of the warranty expiration, the water cooler started showing signs of trouble. The cooling function began to weaken, and the water was no longer as cold as it used to be. This was disappointing, considering I had invested in a supposedly high-quality product. As the weeks went by, the cooler's performance deteriorated further, and it finally broke down completely, leaving me with lukewarm water and a malfunctioning device. I reached out to the customer service department hoping for a solution, only to be frustrated and disappointed. Their response could have been better at best, and they seemed disinterested in assisting me with my issue. It was as if they were washing their hands of responsibility now that the warranty had expired. This post-purchase support was nowhere near the level I had expected from a product that positioned itself as a premium option in the market. What's most frustrating is that this water cooler was a costly purchase, and I had hoped it would last for several years, providing convenience and reliable performance. However, it failed to live up to even the most basic expectations. The fact that it broke down shortly after the warranty period is highly disappointing and speaks to the product's poor quality and lack of durability. Overall, my experience with the Brio Water Cooler has been highly disappointing. It failed to deliver on its promises and left me stuck with a broken appliance that I now need replacing. I cannot recommend this product to anyone, as the lack of quality, durability, and reliable customer support makes it a poor investment. Save your money and look for a more reputable and dependable water cooler brand.

Very nice looking, easy to program, very modern feel
This is a very nice looking water dispenser (stainless steel & black version). The console is very modern and easy to program. The water flow is just about right, wish it were a tad faster, but it's faster then the unit it replaces, so I'm happy. It is also very quiet (although my home has ambient noise because of the swamp cooler this time of year). I may find out differently in the winter with no swamp cooler noise. My only problem was with hot water. I adjusted to 194 degrees in hopes that coffee the next morning would be a little easier (not much additional microwaving to 200 degrees for a french press). The hot water was only dispensing at 179 degrees per the display on the unit. Tried later and it's at 184 degrees. I want 194 degrees give or take 5 degrees margin of error. So I called the number on the manual and I got a representative on the line within 1 minute! I discussed my issue and they told me (and it's in the manual, I found it) that I need to have the unit 8" from the wall so that the overheat doesn't turn off the water heater pre-maturely. So I did the 8" and have it resetting unplugged for a few hours. I will try for 194 degrees this evening and hope the space works. My only disappointment (and thus 4 stars and not 5) is that it has to be 8" from the wall. Aesthetically, that far from a wall looks awkward and makes navigating the space awkward as well. If this dispenser doesn't make it to 194 degrees being 8" from the wall, I'll update my review (dropping stars of course) and will call CS back again. **Update post Customer Service Recommendation #1** After I let the machine reset for 2 hours, I plugged it in and tested the water about 1.5 - 2 hours later. The hot water was at 194 degrees, which was great. However, this morning when I went to make coffee (and the machine wasn't used all night), the temperature was at 184 degrees, not 194. Still outside the +- 5 degrees margin of error. I'll call CS again and as them for recommendations to get it to HOLD water at 194 when set at 194. I've had this over a week now. I have to say I'm very happy with it. Occasionally, my morning coffee H2O temps are 186, but most often they are at 194 degrees consistently. I do wish the hot water resevoir was slightly larger, but it's almost perfect. As for keeping water cold, it does that exceptionally well. I have it set at 39 degrees, and the warmest it's gotten was 41 degrees. So cold works very well. Granted, it is now 8 inches from any wall, and it's still awkward, but that's why 4 starts and not 5. Also of note, the "empty bottle" indicator is NOT very obvious. It's a water drop to the right of the digital clock, and it's easy to miss if you aren't looking specifically for it. A nice red LED would have been better. Again, something that keeps it from 5 stars and only at 4. Update #2 I bought this in June of 21. As of Feb 26, 2023, it stopped pumping water out of the bottle. It made it about 2.5 years. That's not too terrible. It still gave me a bunch of trouble getting 195-degree water the entire time, even when it was more than 8" from anything. So, it's going o the curb on large item pickup day, and being replaced with a Primo Htrio (for the k-cup). I've used the htrio at a boyfriend's house, and I love it.

Not worth the extra money
I bought this water dispenser for three reasons: 1) I wanted to go back to drinking more flat (non-carbonated) water. 2) The sediment filter approach I did before, and the filters end up being far too expensive in the long run. 3) It was advertised as self-cleaning. Since installing it in my home, four days ago I have had exactly zero glasses of cold, drinkable water. First, the unit had to sit for a full 24 hours before use, in order to allow the refrigerant to settle. Even though patience is not one of my virtues, this wasn't a problem as I didn't even have any water jugs yet. When I got the chance to connect a water jug, I followed the installation procedures to a T and installed my first bottle. An hour later, I poured myself a glass of cold, dusty, disgusting water. I looked through the manual and saw that my self-cleaning unit may need to be cleaned, so I ran the 90-minute self-cleaning procedure. This time, I used a liter bottle and got cold, undrinkable water. Yay. The next day, I followed the very limited troubleshooting offered in the manual, and checked the bottle. By now, my first five gallon bottle was nearly empty: less than a gallon left in it after the installation procedure, a few glasses of water (for testing and attempted drinking), and a complete drain of the reservoir tanks. I swapped bottles (per the manual) and repeated the installation procedure. This time, I wasn't stupid enough to wait for cold water and just tasted the tepid tap. Undrinkable. So this wasn't a problem with the bottles of water I was getting, it was the machine. Looking at the VERY LAST PAGE of the manual, I found that my self-cleaning water cooler, for which I paid a premium $200 extra for SELF-CLEANING, needed to be manually cleaned with citric acid. It was the literal only reason I opted for a self-cleaning model. So, I quick order into Amazon for citric acid, and another day of waiting. A few hours ago, my citric acid arrived, and I, again, followed the cleaning procedure to a T. And I can safely say that, after cleaning the brand new unit, it finally produced drinkable water. And I get the honor of waiting another hour before that water will be cold. The up and down arrows are hard to read because they're gray on gray, but if you catch them at just the right angle in the light, you can finally set the clock and the water temperatures. So bad design there. But the buttons do work with minimal pressure (not surprising, they're just touch pads), and it does dispense water quickly enough. The door is difficult to open because it's smooth and secured with a reasonably strong magnet, so that's an issue too. On the plus side, the unit looks amazing, however I would like to point out the only part of this device which is actually stainless steel is the grate over the drip pan. Everything else that looks stainless steel is PLASTIC. I don't know why companies are allowed to do this because no one wants a unit advertised as stainless steel to be made of plastic. Just say "gray plastic", please, and I'll be on my way to find a better unit. Now, for a funny side bit. The manual for this unit says not to put it in a place where water can "splash" on it, then they put a drain plug horizontally and tell you to catch the water with a bucket. Except you can't put a bucket on the floor behind it and catch the water because it shoots out a good two feet, spilling water on the floor. And as part of the cleaning procedure you need to BOTH drain from the tank AND the dispensers, requiring a Herculean effort for a single person. And even if you do get lucky enough to not drip a single bit of water on the floor during this procedure, the horizontal drain plug will eventually just dribble down the back of the unit, where all of the electronics are. For real, guys? You couldn't even put a right angle tap in the box JUST for the purposes of draining this unit? Which, by the way, you want us to do 3-4 times a year?? Save your money. Don't buy expensive. Self-cleaning isn't. What a racket for a company to get into.

Easy to use in the daytime but not at night.
Keeps water cold and works as expected. Have not had a use for the hot water and switched it off to conserve on energy use. My two complaints are that the touchpad type buttons to dispense water are not visible at night and the water jug empty warning symbol does not work as described in the product description. The water jug empty light has only come on once and I have used 5 of the water jugs of the type of water I like. The one time the empty warning light came on is when I manually held the dispenser button down for a couple minutes after the water jug was already empty. The pump made the sound that indicated it was sucking air and not water but as I said it took a couple minutes of holding the switch down before the empty icon came on. Have no idea why the touchpad buttons could not have been made to glow with LEDs when the night light is switched on. Seems rather easy to backlight those buttons. I have to use the light from my cell phone to show where the buttons are when I use the dispenser at night since the night light only lights up where the water comes out. For the amount of money charged for this water dispenser it is a flaw that cannot be overlooked when comparing different models/brands of water dispensers. If you could see the buttons to use it at night I would have given it 4 stars.
