The Everything Kids’ Learning Spanish Book

My 8 years old son has randomly decided, on his own, that he wants to learn Spanish so I ordered him this book to get him started. It was actually the second book that I bought him, the first one was a Spanish to English dictionary and WAY too boring to keep his interest. This one on the other hand is great. It gives common sentences in English and then Spanish with pictures and games to help him remember the words. It has several worksheet type pages and is easy to understand. The pages feel more like coloring pages then book pages and a little thin but it doesn't effect the learning quality of this book. This is a perfect beginners book and we are both excited to learn a new language.

I needed something fun for my kids to practice their spanish. What I did not realize was this wasn't just activities for them to do. This book has actual lessons throughout the book and really doesn't have too many activities. I am not upset with the purchase because I should have paid closer attention to the description and I did need something like this to teach my early elementary children spanish. This book has 10 chapters and is laid out with the basics first progressing through manners, places and things. As far as a simple spanish lesson book this book is 5 stars. Unfortunately, I am still in search of spanish activity book.

This book has the same info that I got in my Spanish 1 text in college, but it presents it in a kid-friendly format. I had tried using my college text to teach my kids, but they were bored by the adult format--dialogues and nothing fun. This book has some fun. But not much. It seems to me that this book is really lacking in activities. There's no way a kid is going to learn to learn 27 parts of the body after just one workbook page that only has 5 blanks to fill in, and one suggested activity (drawing a picture and labeling the parts). This book mostly has lists of words in English and then Spanish, as well as helpful hints: "There is no English V sound in Spanish." I think it is possible to teach kids Spanish using this book even if the parent/teacher has no experience with Spanish because the helpful hints really are helpful, but because of the lack of exercises, using this book will either require supplementation of some sort, or it will require alot of memorizing lists.

Purchased as a supplement to my son's homeschool curriculum for a foreign language. He loves it and started to flip through the pages right away. It makes learning Spanish fun and provides all the basics in a way that learning isn't tedious. There are games and activities and the assignments are clear and easy to comprehend. I am glad this was the book I chose.

Bought this to add to our Spanish curriculum in homeschool. I like the way it's organized systematically with most practical/ common phrases learned first. Though the book is easy enough for kids to understand on their own, I wouldn't say this is a book to buy for a child to self-study. It works well for us bc as the teacher, I go through each portion and I ask the questions and give the examples, then we do it together, but the 'activities' in this book are NOT exciting or really engaging at all. That would have to be extra on the parent's part. I would even say this book would be IDEAL for adults who have absolutely no experience with Spanish but want to learn. Everything is broken down into basics nicely but the content itself is not childish, meaning you're really learning all the pieces of the language both grammatically and conversationally, including the necessary vocab. The only downside to that is there is no audio portion, unless they offer something on their website.

I bought this thinking I would have the maze or others like it for children. I was highly disappointed to find that it wasn’t in this book of exercises. However, this is a great book for someone who would like to go through it alone to learn Spanish. It gives you different tips rules of the Spanish language.

This book is a wonderful discovery - equally useful for my two year old godchild who is bilingual and a little three year old friend who is passionate fior books, reading, and a broad knowledge of vocabulary and also for use in teaching adults Spanish in a fun way - and we all love the beautiful, bright multitude of objects/words presented in such a reader-viewer friendly fashion!!! A little pricey for my budget but for such a gorgeous, good quality hardback I cannot complain - and a second purchase in good used quality an excellent buy.

For someone looking to start a beginner spanish course or brush up from earlier years of spanish classes, this book is perfect! Don't let the word "kids" fool you into thinking that this book is only for kids. Haha I'm a young adult with only a few prior lessons of Spanish and this book has been a lifesaver for me (I work and live in DC where it's predominantly a Hispanic environment). Since ordering this book, I started taking a Spanish class for adults and my teacher ended up borrowing this book to make copies for my fellow classmates!

Great help at Grammy's house as my grandson attends a bilingual Spanish school!!! Thanks Amazon for having these items. Spanish workbooks are hard to find in Canada.

Fantastic book. A whole language curriculum in itself.

A good book

It a good complement to other teaching materials. It is not usable (not intended to be, I guess) as a main Spanish textbook.
