Laboratories Sinking Ceramic Betta Log 4.25 in

This log is a huge hit in our tank! My betta absolutely loves it—he’s constantly swimming through it like an obstacle course and uses it as his favorite spot for sleeping. It’s also been a great source of entertainment for my son, who loves watching him hang out in his little "tunnel." It’s rare to find an accessory that provides both a sense of security for the fish and so much fun for the family to watch. Definitely a five-star addition to his home!

I am really not a fan of artificial decorations in my fish tanks, but I needed something for my african dwarf frogs to hide in and any type of cave-like thing I would build myself from natural items would likely end up looking fake anyway. Not to mention that I was afraid to build something on my own that might fall over and crush them! Better to buy something designed specifically for animal hiding. Based on the positive reviews of this relatively inexpensive product, I figured it would be worth a try. I received this yesterday and I am surprisingly pleased at how well the "wood" on this decoration blends in with the natural manzanita branches and plants I have in the tank. No, it doesn't look natural, but it doesn't look bad either. I also checked the inside for rough edges based on previous reviews, and didn't find any. It is the perfect size for my 10-gallon tank and my frogs. It is just right for them to hide in, and small enough that it doesn't take attention away from the rest of the tank. The frogs took to it immediately and I am glad to give them a home other than behind the filter where they used to like to hide, which is far less appealing. Would not hesitate at all to recommend this for ADFs.

The holes in the top weren't open so I had to use a pen to open them up and then sand down the inside so there weren't any sharp edges. The log is great, it just didn't come ready to use.

Bought this for my new Betta fish tank. After reading the reviews I was nervous. However, this log has NO rough edges at all! My Betta fish, Vito...loves it! I have since bought one for my boyfriend's Betta tank too...both his fish (Rocky) and mine just love it! It takes a few days to a week, but once they explore and discover the log, they seem to love it! I went to both Petsmart and Petco looking for a log like this...yes, they had a "version" of this log, but it was VERY rough on the inside edges and there is no way that I would risk it harming these seemingly, delicate fish. I would 1,000% recommend this product for Betta fish owners. I've had my log for months, it doesn't discolor, it stays at the bottom of the tank, it's very smooth, it's attractive, it's not too large, and the two Betta fish in my life love it. So...don't hesitate, it will be the best purchase that you've ever made (when it comes to a Betta fish). :-)

Perfect hiding spot for when he feels like being at the bottom of the tank. We have the floating one as well and he loves them both! We did have to sand down one of the sides due to sharp edges.

I order two of these and ended up with one because the other one was in multiple pieces. The log itself is OK. It did have some sharp point on the inside which I took off just by pressing on them. I'd bought one for my betta and one for my African Dwarf Frogs. Since only one survived (and replacement wasn't an option when I tried to return it), I put it in with the frogs (they like to hide much more so than the betta). I've had it for a week and haven't seen either of the frogs in it ever. I will say that Amazon customer service was great! I didn't want to have to find a box and find a UPS drop off in my rural location for this one item ... or rather the broken pieces of this item (I order multiple items so the box it came in was very big) - after all, it only cost about 5 bucks. I took a picture of the broken pieces in the box and Amazon refunded me without having to send it back.

My grandsons betta loves hiding in and sleeping in this. It has no rough edges that would hurt his betta.

Took a little while to arrive but I am glad I waited for it. I have ordered numerous decorations for my Betta to be able to swim through or hide in and up to this log they have all been returned. With a Betta you have to be cautious of sharp edges so that the beautiful fins do not get caught and tear which can happen very easily. This ceramic log is the answer. All the edges are nice and smooth inside and out. It is finished inside and out. has a couple different ways to go through it and the 1 cut off branch on the trunk has lots of holes through it so that there is good circulation through the complete log. I will be ordering a couple more for my other small tanks. Impressed with the quality of this log decoration. It is approx. 4 inches in length so a great size for smaller tanks.

The log is perfect and as described. My beta loves it. Would recommend to other beta owners.
