I used these things to put LEDs in a daft punk helmet I made. I had to use a continuity meter to trace the pin paths (the actual output pins of the ic and the chip are random and do not match with rows and columns), but once I traced out the paths, I was able to solder to wires connected to the led matrix I made with other LEDs. I am pleased with the function, and with the price of this product. Hope to see it back in stock!

I’m not sure if I got a defective one or what, but I bought this one and it didn’t work too great no matter what I did, so I bought the same product from Banggood as a two pack and both of those work flawlessly so idk. Refunded

These display units work well enough. The kit aspect of it is good practice if you need to hone your soldering skills or begin programming chips. (Playing with the MAX7219 is fun!) My only real gripe is the electrolytic capacitor is too tall and doesn’t let the matrix unit fully seat. It seats in well enough to operate, but I’d rather not see exposed pins sticking out of the headers. Guess I could pop in a shorter cap if it comes down to it. It’s no better or worse than any other low-priced imported circuit kit. And it powers on and works, which is all anyone can ask, right?

LED Matrix was 1088AS, row - common cathode; column - common anode. The PCB and IC MAX7219 are wired for 1088BS(?) row - common anode; column - common cathode. Photo 1 shows "conversion" wiring to get it working. Basically swap pins 9,13;14,3;8,4 etc Fig 2 shows one LED matrix with bad LED. package had a contact of support@hiletgo.com. No reply to email sent there almost a week ago.

This is my first 8 x 8 x 8 LED cube, it came out great a little flat and a foot long. The kits are easy to build, but be sure your pin headers are straight.

Good price but didnt come with any instructions so im leaving a picture of this product all assembeled except for the matrix.

Sodered it and it works great! I already made some projects with shapes, try to find good libraries and if you a project with Bluetooth and have the shield you can control the matrix with your phone

These work as expected and are easy to control and combine to make a bigger matrix. The only problems I ran into are that first it’s not obvious which way the LED should go and the packaging wasn’t great, so a lot of pins were bent. As far as the LED orientation is concerned, if it doesn’t work, just flip it. Though if, like me, you don’t know if your code works it can be hard to know if the LED is backwards or you have a bug... Another minor issue is that the black ink on the LED matrix wears off easily if you remove the protective film.

Both unit works (if you've read my previous revision, the contacts on RSET were bad, my soldering problem, nothing to do with the product.) If in doubt, check the data sheet on MaximIntegrated's site, it's pretty well documented. Oh and the matrix's stamp is on the right when you insert it into the board.

Produit qui correspond totalement à la description, livraison rapide. Malheureusement il n'y a pas de notices de montage, pour la puce c'est assez simple, il y a un repère. Par contre impossible de savoir dans quel sens insérer la matrice, aucune indication ne figure. Autres problèmes, un câble est arrivé sans son connecteur et la plupart des supports DIL arrivent avec des pâtes tordues. Heureusement, ce n'est pas trop le cas des puces MAX7219.

Nice little kit, especially if you wish to introduce soldering and arduino to the community of those with little experience, ghe PCB has everything labeled as to which way anything specific shpuld go and labelled inputs and outputs that can be daisy chained together, have recommended this to a friend to introduce to the younger community in regards of practice soldering and learning to use Arduino IDE. Easy to find examples of code on the infernet. Only fault i saw was that there was no clear indication as to how the Matrix should be mounted (Side with a little hemisphere goes on fhe side closest to clock "CLK"). Overall, rather satisfied with this product

Correspond parfaitement à l'annonce. Il a fallu que je regarde sur le net pour savoir où se trouve la pin 1. Sinon pour le reste très satisfait du produit. Il est arrivé suivant le temps indiqué. Rien à dire!
