In addition to my 17 "laptop, could I fit 2 to 3 inches of files and a thick shawl or sweater into this briefcase? Those are my real-life needs!

I carry my Inspiron 9400 in mine - measures 15.5"x 11" overall (19" diagonal); easily have 3-4" of files, day planners, journals, etc; shawl or sweater would have to be compressed pretty tightly, but yeah, I think it would work
