Works well, but directions could be better. Longevity TBD
I bought two of the SCP-180M's (wifi capable) to replace two Maxspect Gyre 250's that I had, one of whose motors failed after over 7 years of continuous use (not bad!). On first glance, these pumps feel sturdy and they install easily and securely to the 1/2" glass on my tank. Longevity is yet to be established, of course. If there are any surprises (like premature failure), I'll try to remember to update this review. The SCP-180Ms definitey produce more flow than my old Gyres (an important consideration for my 220 gallon SPS-dominated reef tank), so I've dialed back the pumps to 70% flow in the daytime and 30% at night. Setting up wifi was a bit of a pain because these pumps only connect on 2.4 GHz wifi and require you, on your phone or tablet using their automatic setup method, to connect at 2.4 GHz for setup. This won't do if you have a 5 GHz wifi network running at home or a 5/2.4 GHz network (I have an Orbi mesh network that doesn't allow me to shut off 5 GHz wifi independently of the 2.4 GHz wifi) but your phone connects preferentially to the 5 GHz network. Anyways, I learned that the way to connect in my case was to use the AP (access point) mode after which wifi setup was straightforward. The SCP-180M capabilities meet my needs, but the included directions are difficult to understand. But, with some effort, I was able to figure out the different modes and how to access/change different settings. I'm sure that there's a video somewhere that might have helped, but I managed without. The real keys to the kingdom, for me, was figuring out that the AP connection method was the way to go.

Strong and quiet
Great pump for vast water movement . I have this in my 180 gal 6’x2’x2’ and it is high flow for 2’ medium flow for 1’ and the last 3 ‘ are low flow Going to get another one for the other side.

Wifi is a pain
I've spent several hours trying to get this set up to no avail. The manual gives one set if instructions while the app gives another. Neither work. The AP, direct connection continually drops after a few seconds. I've tried multiple configurations...nothing. I think I will return and get thr MCP version with the LCD display. Maybe it is better... The pump itself is FANTASTIC. I have a 200g salt and it really gets the water moving.

Quit working within a year.
I have been reef keeping for over 20 years. My go to is always Tunze, but I wanted to try this wavemaker. I had one when these types first came out and it lasted only a year, so I thought since it had been over 8 years I would try again hoping it would last longer. Unfortunately it did not. It began, okay, pumping a good amount of water. Then started to fade fast. It seemed to slow easily even without noticeable algae or issues of debris. I removed it for a few months and now put it back in and it is going on and off constantly. It is only 1yr and 2m old. Ugh. You get what you pay for I guess.

Wifi does not connect
The pump itself works well. I have two already that each took me several hours each to get connected to the app/wifi. The third and fourth I have ordered will not connect after two days of trying for 4-6 hours each day. The connection issue needs to be addressed. The manual it comes with and the app itself give direction/instruction on a different pump. The “blinking” led indicators for connection do not operate as described in the manual or the app.

Very disappointed
Purchased end of March. End of June I paid someone to come help with some concerns in my 210 gallon reef tank. Turns out this item was sending massive amounts of electricity into the water. As I was slightly over my support window I reached out to the company in early July stating I liked the product but here’s the concern and is there any assistance (repair, troubleshooting, discount on new one) and I never heard back. I feel like I threw away $170. Very disappointed.
