Review: Works for unusual applications - I'm using this with an HFC 16mm film rewinder (Bodine universal motor); obviously not what it was intended for. But it works perfectly in this application, allows me to ramp up and down the motor speed slowly, and stays cool after rewinding multiple reels. I'm glad I didn't buy the knock-off version of this. Review: Controls my RotoZip's speed for use as a pseudo mini lathe - I needed to reduce the diameter of two dozen 1/2 inch long copper parts by 0.008". Threaded the parts into an adapter and secured the adapter into the RotoZip which was clamped to my bench. Used the foot controller to run the RotoZip at a slow enough speed that I could use an Eze-Lap diamond hone to shave down the parts. Worked perfectly. I can already see a dozen more uses for this controller. Great item.

Very limited range
I had high hopes for this actually working. I plugged in my Dremel tool and I had to press the pedal almost all the way down before the Dremel started. I was expecting it to start the tool and gradually increase the speed over the full travel of the pedal but that's not what happened. It went from low speed to high speed within just a few millimeters of movement of the pedal. If I held the pedal in my hands I could just barely get some intermediate speed out of the tool. Update: I decided to get a single speed Dremel tool (model 100) and I tried this foot control with it. I had nearly the same results as with the model 200. I hooked up my oscilloscope to the output and watched it. I believe the foot pedal control is mostly doing what it's supposed to. But even the single speed Dremel tool apparently has some circuitry besides just the motor and this circuitry is interfering with the expected operation. Update 2: After repairing my Ryobi rotary tool, I tried that with this foot control. Finally, success! I had to have the speed dial turned up to the max on the Ryobi tool but then the foot control worked as I expected it to. So it seems that Dremel tools have some sort of control circuitry inside that makes it pretty much impossible to use an external speed control like this foot pedal. So I bumped my rating up to 4 stars.

Excellent speed control of DeWalt scroll saw
I paid extra for Foredom quality to have this run my DeWalt 7880 scroll saw. I had borrowed some other off brand foot pedals from friends and they were on/off switches. The Foredom foot pedals actually allowed me to control the speed of the cut. Well worth the extra money and highly recommend.

Purchased to regulate blow dryer used for alcohol ink art--and it is great!
I purchased this as a controller for a blow dryer used as an art tool with alcohol ink. The amperage of the dryer would be too high for this if I used it on high heat, but on low heat or cool, it is great--gives me fine control of how hard the air blows on the paper. It might feel a bit stiffer than sewing machine foot pedals, but I think it's sized for a man's foot anyway. This solves a problem that the blow dryer makers and craft embossing tool makers don't address. I find myself wondering what other uses I might find for this. Just have to watch out for the amperage. It is very sturdily made, as are the cords. If I could make a change to it, I might give it long cords for power input AND output. It only has a long cord for the input. Your gadget will need to have a cord that can reach down to it.

PERFECT!
haven't used it long, but its perfect for what I need it far. Using it with my 1.4amp Wen flex shaft and my 1/2hp Master Carver flex shaft. Hooked them all up to a 4 way dj power strip so I don't have to unplug different tools when I need it to run one or the other. The pedal controls the speed of both variable speed tools and that's what I wanted.

Doesn’t control speed of your rotary tool
I’m in Canada, the pedal arrived but is not as advertised. The speed control for my Dremel 4000 doesn’t work as it said it would. It only turns on and off with the pedal, IT DID NOT CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE TOTARY TOOL. I did read all the reviews before I Bought it and it was mixed about this issue. I took the chance anyways, and now I am disappointed in that decision.
