It is made in China, shows it on the bottom of the box. I'm returning it as I was led to believe it was made in the USA from the other answer. I'll try and post a picture.

Why is this item a "subscribe and save" item? Does it break that often?

I have had mine for 5 years and I use it every single day and put it in the dishwasher every day and it has never broken. Great quality! If you slam it against something in the sink I am sure it will break like any other glass but it will last a very long time if you take care of it and use it as intended.

How do you get the leaves out and do they steep all the time they are in the pot?

I keep the leaves in until the top is empty -- i usually drink it all over 24 hours. Then I dump the leaves into the trash or compost pile. The lid/filter is very easy to clean. I use a dish brush, and it take 5 seconds. I have had mine 3 years and love it -- i dropped it today, though, and it broke. I am buying another one today. : )

Are there any plastic parts that come into contact with the hot water or tea? Is this all Stainless Steel & Glass?

Fabulous for making loose leaf tea. Much better than the tea egg or filtering spoons I have used in the past. Size is perfect for a large mug of tea. Love it. I actually bought two of them!
