Good Directions Fire Pit Spark Screen Hinged for Easy Access

I'm truly impressed at the quality if this screen. I've compared product reviews for a lot of these on Amazon, trying to find the right one for my fire pit. While on a kayaking trip, I got a phone call from my Amazon delivery driver telling me that the original package had been damaged in their facility and wanted to know if I still wanted it (amazing service btw) and I approved it knowing I would probably do some assembly and modification anyway. When I got home I found it repackaged in a new box and today I had the chance to open it up and it was in perfect condition! The double layered and welded frame wasn't bent anywhere and the thin guage steel screen was in perfect shape. On top of that, it was fully assembled (which may have been listed in the item description but I don't remember) and i can tell it was done so with care. As a steel worker, I can tell that these welds will hold up nicely too. It's simple, but we'll built, and it'll make a nice addition to my backyard! I expect that the paint will chip over time (which is perfectly reasonable for outdoor equipment that will be regularly exposed to high levels of heat and cold) but I already have a can of black heat resistant ceramic paint to touch it up as needed. I recommend that anyone using this product with or without a steel fire ring in their pit keep a can of fire resistant spray paint as well.

This is an amazing product! It is very heavy duty and fits perfectly on top of the Amazon 27” fire pit bowl! I use the bottom of an old table which was made of cast iron and created the most gorgeous fire bowl ever using this topper screen!

I bought this screen to replace an old rusted-out screen from the fire pit we've had for years. This screen is accurately sized and the diameter matches my old screen perfectly. I'm not sure how much I will like the hinge feature. My old screen was one piece, sturdy but fairly lightweight; I had to lift it off to add wood to the fire, which could be a bit awkward and risky. The hinge seems like a great option to avoid that for routine use. On the downside, the overall screen is HEAVY, and if I had the need to lift it off the pit (or the burn barrel I sometimes used the old screen on) the two halves swing independent of one another. Lifting it off when hot is just too dangerous to attempt unless I wire the halves together to "lock" the hinge, and even then it's much heavier to move. I think it will be great for the fire pit but I'll need something else for the burn barrel.

Sturdy, well built

The iron used in this product was very good quality. The hinged lid is really nice and the weight of the iron makes me feel confident that the lid will not become compromised by the wind. The grid is the right size to get embers. Very pleased with this product

This item is heavy and well made. However, it did not work well with my Cuisinart fire pit. It needs to be on flat cement retaining wall stones that surround many fire pits for stability. I will try to drill 4 holes through the heavy iron band on the smaller half, and through the rim of my Cuisinart, and see if that works. It would be great if it did.

Malgré le prix qui nous a fait hésiter, nous sommes très contents de notre achat .

Great find! We use to have one like this that cave with our fire pit when we bought it. Over time it needed to be replaced. We love this style as you can easily fold back one side or the other. The fire poke is a very useful tool. Looking forward to many more fire nights!
