I got in trouble with this thing
My son needed new curtains for his room and being a single father on a limited budget, I thought; " I can cook, fix the car, Make AWESOME Halloween costumes", Ima gonna make some curtains. I have done nothing but hand stitching up to this point and curtains are big and a friend suggested I get a little hand sewing thing. Mom had a singer so I got this one. Not kidding I had sooooo much fun with this thing. Took a little getting use to and the curtain material was kinda pushing the operational limits but the curtains were if not professional were functional. Fast forward a few weeks and my friend asked me how I liked the machine I had bought. I of course raved about it and told her how much fun I had and then, and forgive me but this is true, I said "it was kinda like a women's power tool". The only other time that I have ever seen an icier look was when I was at a parent group and the subject was disciplining toddlers. I told them that I made some small stocks that I keep in the basement. Misbehavior could be effectively dealt with by time in the stocks. I was of course joking on both counts but apparently still have a lot to learn.

Cute but does not perform well
If you have a full size sewing machine, this mini one probably will fall short of your expectations. For the time I spent fiddling with it, I could have pulled out my full size machine. This mini machine is not easy to thread. You cannot thread the needle without a needle threader. The tension is very difficult to control with the knob. The thread breaks easily. It’s also not easy to control the fabric as you sew, especially using the handheld setting where you can only use one hand to guide the fabric. I found that the bobbin thread and the needle thread sometimes twist together (like a rope) causing a jam. I think I would prefer hand sewing over using this machine. My only other thought is perhaps the thread that comes with it is not the best quality, which exacerbates the problems. You can wind your own bobbins, but I haven’t tried that. It comes with two white bobbins and one black bobbin, which makes no sense as you need two per color. It is cute, light weight and portable, so if you have a good amount of patience it could work for you. I regret the purchase though.

Passed the initial test very nicely.
The first job for this new little guy was to add additional fabric around 3 sides of a california king sized blanket while it was on the bed. It did it and did a great job. I had a bit of a learning curve, but overall, this machine should turn out to be a very useful tool around the house. I encountered a couple glitches. It's not clear if it was the machine or operator error, but they were easy to resolve. A couple of times the machine stopped on me for no apparent reason, but I was able to get it back on track. Also, there were a couple of times when the thread unexpectedly broke. I was able to get back up and running once I paid particular attention to the proper threading of the machine. It's a choppy little operator, but the stitches are smooth, even, and secure. I look forward to more projects and becoming more comfortable with it. Good purchase.

Good Value for Simple Tasks
Out of the box, this machine felt a little toy-like - lighter than I expected, plasticky, and somewhat fragile. When I tested it on scrap fabric, the motor locking lever got stuck. I managed to force it loose. I was discouraged and thought of returning the whole thing, but instead I persisted with a small project. It actually worked out surprisingly well. The two thread system is easy to understand if you are familiar with larger machines. The lower bobbin threaded automatically. The on-off switch was relatively easy to control in hand-held mode, but a little awkward to reach in desktop mode. Nevertheless, I preferred using it on my desktop because it felt more stable. It sews at only one speed and it's quite fast. You have to be on the ball. The finished stitching was tight and strong. For me, it's certainly suitable for simple repairs, taking in slacks, or making a pillow case, providing the material isn't supper heavy. I would find its ergonomics challenging for larger projects. Battery life is fairly good. However, it would be disruptive to have the batteries die half way through a long stitch. You can get an optional power adaptor, but it costs about half the price of the machine itself. Overall, this is handy product for the price if you can accept its limitations.

Singer doesn't disappoint!
I've sewn on a few machines over my lifetime, including Singer, Sears, and Bernina, so I have a bit of experience, but I'm not a seamstress. Due to arthritic hands, I can no longer sew or lift the heavier machines but still needed something to do mending. I thought I'd give this handheld/desktop machine a try. I was thrilled. I watched the 4 videos online and they were sufficient to help me with the technical details. The straight stitch (all I ever need) was even and the tension perfect. The Stitch Quick is made with solid plastic and metal material and feels quite sturdy for such a compact machine. It certainly is portable (high on my list of why I chose it) and my leftover thread spools and bobbins (from my Bernina) are compatible with it as well. I'm very happy with this well-made product and highly recommend it for anyone, possibly a beginning sewer as well. Just watch the videos (I do much better with "show and tell" than reading), and I hope that you enjoy it as well.

Didn't care for it.
First of all the instructions were about as clear fog. Couldn't make much sense of it the reference "Left, Right, Front and back without any idea of what they were referring to on the machine just complicated it more just as the instructions on threading the machine by giving both 1 and A, 2 and B we're of no help and as for the pictures, couldn't make out half of the things it was pointing to. After finally getting it to stitch, it lasted all of 1/2 of the cuff before it stumbled on the seam and unwound the thread and had to rethread it again and again and again. I finally finished the second pair of pants by hand which was faster then with the machine. I'm sorry for such a bad review but in my opinion very poor design. Surprisingly from Singer. Must be one of those that was outsourced to another country that doesn't care about their workmanship. No quality control and the person that allowed that instruction booklet really fell short to pass that as OK.

Good handheld sewing machine
This is a good handheld sewing machine. I used it to fix the seam on my comforter and it did a great job. I have a suggestion. Put a LED light above the needle to see what is being sewn better.

Klarar mer än man tror.
