Yes it will fit, as mentioned it is a tight fit but since the container is foamy and stretches the nexus 6p fits inside just fine.

Would this work with the original Oneplus one?

yes, this works with any smartphone size regular or even Iphone 6 plus.

does anyone else have problems with the large phones ripping the headset? i have a lgv10 and that is slightly bigger than an iphone 6+

Yes. I have an iPhone 6+ and it ripped the sides. The folks at Merge were kind enough to send me a new pair and assured me that I had received a fluke defective product. Well... The second headset is now tearing in the same place. I don't recommend this product at all...
