It's Big Sister Time!: An Empowering Picture Book About Family, New Babies, and Why Being a Sister Rules (My Time, 1)

My daughter is the youngest out of 3 and we knew becoming a big sister would not be something she instantly loved. We bought her this book and gave it to her when we told her the news. It was perfect. She has read this book more times than I could count. I def recommend for big sisters to be.

Great book for my granddaughter who was an only child for 5 years.

This has become a daily read in my house as we prepare for the baby. My daughter loves reading it, is engaged in the storyline and especially loves the end. “We’re a team now”. She sometimes falls asleep holding it lol. I’m glad we were able to find a book that she connected so well to as she gets ready to become a big sister!

My niece was pregnant with her second child and this helped introduce my great niece to having a baby brother. It is a book that she absolutely loves and in fact now her baby brother is 3 months old and she pretends that she is reading to him

My coworker loved this book as a baby shower gift for her second baby. I loved the images and the story!

We welcomed a baby boy and needed a book to help our daughter transition to a big sister. This book made her excited about her baby brother.

Good book to read to big sisters. Becoming a big sister is not easy and a book like this helps sure the message of becoming a team and working together

I like the illustrations and cute ending. However, the “rules” it has the big sister telling the baby at the beginning are going to potentially end up causing problems with how she treats the baby. Like not sharing the toys, or the blankets, the sister is the special helper not the baby, and she gets to sit between mom and dad. I get the gradual acceptance and love of the baby by the end but I am an adult, kids listen to and take words literally. There are parts after these “rules” that try soften the negative aspects but most kids might not remember the softer more reasonable part of the “rule”. If I’m reading these “rules” to her about how to treat the baby she will remember me saying things like “absolutely no playing with my toys.” or “you can’t sleep with my blankie” and live by those words that I told her. It has a cute turning point where she starts liking the baby and a cute ending but not worth the potential of a child taking these “rules” seriously and it causing issues and fights and a negative relationship between the two.

Wonderful book for a big sister expecting a baby sister. I love the story of introducing the baby sister into the home and how the big sister is now best friends with her little sister. It’s a wonderful book and I love that the characters are black too! It was just perfect for my daughter 🩷
